The Dark Sea compass directions has been changed last update (Mistral Update) which makes the compass part of the video inaccurate. From the patchnotes of the update: "Changed the Dark Sea compass texture to make it more intuitive. Previously, the purple needle pointed towards the War Seas, while the white pointed deeper into the Dark Sea. Now, the light blue needle points towards the War Seas, while the purple needle points towards the Dark Sea."

instead of bronze hammer, you could also put a bunch of cargo on your ship and use a quartermaster to make the crew repair the boat with the cargo

Got a bunch of dark sea chests, turned around to go back to open them, got struck by red plasma lightning thrice and died. Another time trying to return, got a little greedy and went onto a lava island and accidentally jumped in a white rectangle which I guess was the cover for a pool of poisonous water which drained almost all my health instantly and the remaining poison killed me. Not water poisoning which I could've washed off, just regular poison.

Going into the dark sea feels like the game is intentionally trying to kill you at every given moment. I went in with a ketch and it took ages to find an island. Luckily i found another player who was friendly and went together. Still need a few more shards tho :/

ketch's are the other type of boat that can enter the dark sea (make sure it has hull armour)

Heres another tip that I have learned by experince myself while in the dark sea: DONT I REPEAT, DONT TRY TO FIGHT THE ATLANTIANS ON THE SHIPS. Why? Because if you suck at pvp OR you have a bad pc that cant handle all the things going on in AO (like me) you're gonna die and they are strong as hell. Just sink them and dont try to fight em.

I highly recommend ignoring Atlantean ships as they will slow your progress down to much

Actually, that's you you're supposed to repair your ships, by sinking the atleantean, and they will chase you anyways, so unless your ship is faster, just fight and sink them, it's not that hard if u have rams and cannons, the ships u skin also heal a ton of hp on a brig Also if u run away, they will chase u through insanity stages and will attack whenever u stop

Dude... I had 20 dark sealed chests and I was solo in Layer 3. My ship got jumped by a heavy brig while I was off it and I scrammed to sail away on my 8k hp ship. I ran out of cargo at this point so I had to use my hammer while sailing and moving the ship and stuff. Then I got jumped by a shadow tornado which flew me into the sky, but I had to make sure my ship was fine so it sailed away. I had to swim back to my brig while the heavy brig was chasing it. Luckily I managed to escape and open all my chests, and... I got garbage. One hell of an experience, only in the dark sea

Haven't played since the Easter event so I'm pretty behind. Honestly I think I'll avoid the dark sea for like a week or 2 until ppl calm down and I can get prepared properly cuz I went in twice and got absolutely wrecked by the insane weather as well as crazy players just attacking anything they see

⁠@@shoobzy3431to be fare I don’t find dark sea that hard in first layer especially. No insanity and I barely encounter people who have the time and skills to fight me in such conditions. (Hell an assassin even gave his last breath attacking giant white eyes so I could live. Props to that guy) The weather is fairly annoying but not super threatening if you bring some cargo and a brig also have good time management since you have to count the travel time back to the bronze sea.

I recommend filling Ur ship with at least 20 cargo crates as they heal 400 hp each (you use them by talking to enizor or who ever U have in his place )

The dark sea compass appears above your other compass. The dark sea compass is Purple & White. While in the Dark Sea, the purple part of the dark sea compass will point towards the Bronze Sea.

Gear with the warding helps but can't negate later stages of insanity. Also ghost ships go to where they originally sunk which will have treasure. I personally don't recommend ghost ships.
