2:58 "Don't run out of room" Wish I had someone told me this growing up lol. I had years of bad habits of taking off too late or just not being aware of my space, now that I don't play nearly as much it is so hard to change.

@@USAtheraI think he mean use your length, take those big steps and don’t limit yourself by taking off once you’re already close to the hoop, and try to take off from as far as you can

@@USAthera for example, jumping too late for a layup, resulting layup landing behind the backboard. That is really bad, but I wasn’t aware of that until I am much older.

@@USAthera not always, but just be aware of your position on the court. But yeah in general it might be better to jump earlier rather than jumping too late and land behind the board, you should land under the board. But again, good athletes just does it naturally lol I am just an average guy

I like the detailed explanation. It would be awesome if you could pause the video as you do the steps for the viewers watching your videos. Also it'd be awesome to see different players doing the moves more frequently. I saw you gave the taller guy in black a lot of screen time. However seeing different body types helps.

Great move, elite defenders will learn how to time the 1 2 step. Another move is to push the ball out bump and finish off 2 .

All I see are coordinated, natural rhythm moving kids. This is stuff that makes good players better, but won't work for a large majority. Handy tips though.

In my opinion the kids should be doing more fundamental movements with a live defender. All of these moves wouldn’t work for these short kids.

Why not push with 2 hands on that layup in the beginning for better control and protection? Plus, I see a variety of age groups here. I see some utility in some of these moves, but are u trying to tell me that all of these kids have already mastered fundamentals? Because none of what I see here are fundamentals.

How is the first move not traveling? The player establishes the right foot as the pivot foot, picks it up, then replants before shooting the layup. This is traveling.

you are correct - that is a travel in High school - 50/50 in college and not even close in the Pros. :)
@ragzy02
@ragzy02 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely a travel in any league but the NBA where you get step zero (gather step.) Trust me, many HS officials will call this. Some may not but too big of a risk. Ask refs before game if you want to use it.
@KenFushen
@KenFushen Жыл бұрын
@@TrevorDeBuhrcheck out last Mavericks and Warriors game. It’s a point of emphasis with the refs. You never want to be teaching a fundamental move that will arguably battle a point of emphasis. Why? There’s too many other legal moves you can teach. I like the thought of the coach using a strong power move but maybe he could teach some other options so kids aren’t going out and traveling especially when the title of the post is the only finishing footwork you need. The motive was good and he obviously is a great coach and teacher. I just wouldn’t bill this to the universe as the best and only finishing options you need. That’s just all I’m trying to communicate. Lastly, even if what you said was true and it isn’t traveling on the NBA level, look at the kids he is teaching. I don’t see any NBA players at the clinic.
