It is an annoying on KZfaq Music, for example, when I listen to Disney, it is marked as for kids, but it won’t let me play it in mini player. Adults listen to Disney too, and how does that protect kids?

Hey Sonic Fan here, this was also a massive problem in the Sonic community for a while. A lot of Sonic videos ended up being marked as "for kids." And this included animations that were marked as 13+, I believe a Sonic Animation youtuber went patreon-only because of it. I think the issue has been somewhat fixed but I think it still is a bit of a problem.

the thumbnails were 100% NSFW and youtube was like "yeah this is alright" i watched more. everything made sense.

I watched that live chat in one of the clips. That creepy guy telling you to wake up at 3:05 AM. That is another reason those streams suck. They can hang out there until a kid joins, then do their "magic"

AAAAnd, the original creator of monster school quit because KZfaq was banning HIS content instead of the content farms. The issue with monster school isn't as bad anymore, but other Minecraft content farms started appearing and spreading like wildfires. KZfaq should realise that children are growing up on this discusting sh*t, and NOT F*CKING PROMOTE THEM just because they will get that sweet, sweet ad revenue

Those spam bots are on every live chat with no moderation, the Kirby Live Radio is one of the most infamously unmoderated live streams on the platforms, and for at least a year the chat was comprised of around 70% bots. The creator is the only moderator and he rarely is online, but when he was he swiftly removed every last bot and i havent seen them since. Obviously these channels are disgusting but i don't think the bots are a part of their scheme, itd just that content farms obviously have 0 moderation because their only focus is clout and money (and unfortunately sometimes conditioning kids into having "intrests") Another issue you mentioned is incorrectly labeling a video as a game in the description. One of the biggest "intrests" gro0ming channels on the site "Kusemek" abuses the mess out of this feature by listing every video as hollow knight or pizza tower.

So, while I didn't watch the JJJacksfilms video everyone else is talking about, I do watch his content, which must be why this was in my recommendations. Glad to hear KZfaq got this in order and congrats on the transition!

KZfaq should not have kids content, and especially not a kids section/website. This is the problem, parents need to parent. Mojang and Microsoft also need to step up here, not just KZfaq. Their game is being used to target children.

This is fucking disgusting. KZfaq needs to be sued big time for this. Maybe then they’ll finally learn to respect their creators and to provide a safe platform for adults. Kids content should only every be allowed on KZfaq Kids and should be heavy moderated to prevent Child Abuse.

Want to mention that this needs to be more specific about No More New Monster School. Since the original creator of it, is aware of what Monster school has become and it is nothing more than a disaster. His original aka the OG Monster School was meant to teach folks about the game.

I grew up on monster school in 2015-2016, and all it was was “bottle flip challenge” or “thug life challenge”, and stuff like that, what has it became now?

The solution has existed for a long time. Parent your kids, watch first what they are going to watch, let them watch from sites that are made for kids and well moderated. Don't give your kids un filtered access to the internet or to you tube. Manually review content and download it then disconnect the device from the internet.

I've experienced the opposite thing in watching videos. I'll get videos that are NOT made for kids get marked as for kids so no comments can be made. It's not because of anything like the bots you saw, it's more because the videos are of certain characters that I know a kid shouldn't be exposed to or is about some sort of violence or gore. I had an ad on a video once on the recommended videos based on the one I was currently watching about Gacha Life that basically was showing an image of something sexual going on and I haven't seen any more of it at least.

Yep, something to add is that a lot of the “made for kids content” is not good for kids since almost everything involve adult themes and are unnecessary sexualised on them so they could also get another situation like elsagate again on top of kid privacy violations

One of my Minecraft livestreams had one of those live-chat spamming accounts, and the livestream was literally me just playing Sky block, i did what normal people would do and banned the bot from chatting on my streams and now the spam bots don't show up anymore. Kind of weird.

Those videos "meant for kids" are lowkey scaring me, if that's meant to be watched by kids, well, uhhh... damn.

I was kind of mad at first, about being clickbaited, for an issue like this, I'd say use whatever means necessary to make sure more people see it.

As some have already pointed out, KZfaq also mislabel videos that clearly aren't made for kids. One example of this happening is with the first episode of Power Rangers Unworthy, a gritty story set in an alternate PR timeline. It features more brutal violence, the death of several characters and occasional profanity, but guess what: Made for kids. KZfaq do this sort of thing constantly making it both easier for certain individuals to get away with abusing systems they put in place, or not thinking about how their system of review bots can prevent errors of this kind. I'm Honestly glad that someone brought up this issue with the Made for kids system, at least one side of it, and hope the petition really does the trick.

It's unfortunate. Yeah the changes, knew of this content or other garbage ones, even the no saying Minecraft in the title I removed any mods that said that to something like game title or something else to be safe. But ah the bad videos and many ways some creators exploit things is just sad and wrong. But at the same time some people grow up with games or are parents or just 20 year olds that enjoy a game whether Mario/Sonic or Minecraft but have different age range audiences and how they present content but I assume those get filtered well of regular playthroughs, ROMhacks or swearing in a review/retrospective. I myself make mod videos primarily and had my let's play that were 1-2hr recordings edited to 15 minutes (because I don't have a higher level account and it's easier to control my content that way and fit other length videos) and have a core audience of 18-24, the odd older too, which makes sense. Basically targeting the audience I can communicate on a level with. I make sure to not swear unless for demonstration purposes for a swear filter mod and I also offer neutral opinions on things in the Minecraft modding community but also because mods and fan content for Java or Bedrock PC are a particular case so making videos to be safe but also technical risk aware makes sense (even if safe mods not the garbage ones, because it's technical support installs I try to make my content for adults only setting. Never seen it for kids as all for a marking change).

i really can not understand why youtube not allowed to collect data on kids would effect platform features like being able to get notifications from channels or creating playlists that part seems like the stupid part as i feel like some parents would want to make sure to create a playlist of the safe things for thair kid or get notifications to even knwo who what channes they are watching in the first place removing notifications and ability to create playlists was youtub's worst thing they did to the site

There's a reason or two that stopped making Minecraft content. This is one of them. The other reason is that Minecraft somewhat brings a terrible memory back to me. Back in December 2021, I had gotten on Minecraft after I got home from school, knowing that my best bud, a Golden Retrever-Lab mix, Al, was at the vets office, I had been playing Minecraft waiting for him to come home with my mom, when my mom came home, Al wasn't with her, at first when I saw it, I thought, "ok, he's just staying the night over at the vets office" and after a moment or two mom informed me that Al had passed away, and now I rarely even touch Minecraft anymore, it just pains me to play it
