Japan is known for many great engines, I mean when you really think of greatest engines ever quite a few of the enignes you will think of is japenese, to list a few the RB26, 2jz, Sr20 DETT, F20C Te list goes on and on, but you see 1 thing all those engines have in commen is the fact that they came out of sports cars, well the engine we are looking at today is coming out of 2 and a half ton luxury sedan.
This is the Toyota century, I know what you are thinking. That thing looks fast, and you would be wrong. Its actually quite slow reaching 60 in 7.6 seconds and she went on to a top speed of 149mph. But this video isn’t about the century, rather its beating heart. You see under the hood lies a 5.0 v12
So this V12 wasn’t really designed for speed more for being able to cruise along at speed with out struggling. Its go systems like being able to switch of one half of the engine and only running on one bank to save fuel, its just not a race engine. Or is it??

If this V12 had been made available in the Lexus LS sedan, no other Japanese luxury sedan would have been able to touch it. It would have become an icon among Japanese luxury cars.

Actually the supra smokey brought to the uk had an RB26 from a skyline, going well only 197mph. the second supra though was tested at The Nardo Ring had the 1GZ-FE that had an impressive record going 222mph.

Hey nice video! But actually to inform you when Smoky went to England with his TS Supra, that was a different car, not in this video. It had an RB26 swapped in capable of 900+HP! This car is different!
