I’ve had every kind, type, and make of Rc car, buggy, and truck. I’ve had 5 traxxas summits over the years. Every time I sell the summit I regret it later and end up buying another. If I could only have 1 Rc land vehicle it would be the summit. It’s upgradable to brushless, even though it’s fast enough o put a smile on your face in stock form. It’s wide and stable with the gobs of suspension travel. And with the ability of locking all 4 wheels and a low gear it will go most anywhere you ask it to. It’s strong enough to pull my small kids around in a wagon, and durable enough to take quite a beating. As long as you don’t stuff 6s power into it or abuse the locking diffs or 2 speed by shifting under power, it should hold up just fine and bring miles of smiles to your face!

Those opening comments sum up RC discussions online full stop, not just the Summit lol Person 1: "I've had my slash 5 years and only broken one arm. All stock." Person 2: "I had to spend $1000 on upgrades for my Slash just so it would last a single bash session. Worst RC I ever bought" How is anyone supposed to reconcile those opposing viewpoints!? 🤣🤦‍♂️ I really do like the Summit, it's a very good all rounder. Not a master of all trades but it comes closer than most. I've seen them go pretty well at skate parks but usually with brushless or the bigger drill motors in. Not a competition spec crawler but I've seen some videos of it doing some pretty impressive crawling, keeping up with scalers like the TRX-4 if not the dedicated ones. Diffs are famed as the weak point but from what I've read and seen, it only happens with bug power and reckless driving. The diff case/bell seems to be the real weak link as it allows the gears to spread and slip and then the teeth get snapped off. You can get metal ones for cheap these days.
@TomleyRC
@TomleyRC 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. The comments on the first video were funny though... just shows how different people see things. 😎
@KurNorock
@KurNorock 3 жыл бұрын
It's easy to reconcile those two opposing view points. By looking at more than 2 people. If you look at 1000 people with a Slash and see that 850 of them had to buy upgraded A-arms, then you can be safe in assuming the stock a-arms might be prone to breaking. Just because there are 150 people who never broke an a-arm doesn't mean it is a 50/50 thing, or that some people just see things differently. Or go to a hobby shop and ask the owner "What is your number one selling part for X vehicle?" For the Summit/Revo, the answer is almost always going to be diff gears. As far as the diffs in the Summit go, they are known to be weak in both the Summit and the Revo, and for a multitude of reasons. Metal diff cups and diff housings and proper shimming can help, but ultimately, the gears themselves are made from a very weak material that can be prone to snapping gear teeth off. Sure, some people with high powered E-Revos go and bash the hell out of them and never break a diff, but most people don't have that experience. At one time the Traxxas forum moderators were actually deleting comments and banning people for saying anything about the Revo diffs being weak, because so many people were having issues.
@ValleyRC
@ValleyRC 3 жыл бұрын
Well I'm sorry but my experience is that the complainers are a vocal minority. I'm sorry that you disagree with my personal observations and want to try and tell me otherwise. Pulling out a load of made up statistics isn't evidence of anything, hypothetical claims don't equal proof.
@phillipballoon3597
@phillipballoon3597 3 жыл бұрын
@@KurNorock why would you assume he based that on 2 people? That's a ridiculous assumption. And then you just go on the invent a load of imaginary statistics to back yourself up 🤣🤣 2 can play. I say 15% of people who moan about breaking stuff have genuine issues and the other 85% are heavy handed idiots who don't know how to drive and cry when they snap something in freezing temperatures or land jumps full throttle. For these people, "Durable" means "able to withstand by awful driving skills" If there's 200 people who think your comment is spot on but 2000 who think it's meaningless speculation derived from personal bias then it's safe to say it's not a 50/50 thing.
@KurNorock
@KurNorock 3 жыл бұрын
@@phillipballoon3597 Because he literally said "Person 1" and "Person 2". Now I'm no mathematician but I'm only counting two people there. And yes, I clearly made up those statistics. Because that was a hypothetical example of my point. Hypothetical is a good word, you should look it up, see what it's about. See I don't care about whether or not some people drive this way or that way. I don't care if they are "heavy handed idiots" with awful driving skills or precision professional drivers. And the reason I don't care is because as you said, most of us are heavy handed idiots with awful driving skills. If the car can't hold up to my awful driving and bad jump landings then I don't want it. That is EXACTLY what a "bashing" car is supposed to hold up to. If I only wanted a car that can only be durable while being expertly driven without error, then I would look for that. But that isn't what I want. I want the car that isn't going to fall to pieces the first time it cartwheels off a jump, or strips the diffs under the power of its own motor.

It was a really revolutionary truck. Just think it needs a sensored brushless system to give it more top speed and make it more versatile with more antisquat tuned to rear to help with massive squatting under power. Then it would be the perfect. Btw I put a castle sensored system in mine and great on 4s.

As one of the blessed chosen commenters from the beginning of this video I would just like to say that I stand by what I said and I maintain that your Summit will probably be fine as long as you never do the twin motors or brushless conversion. And after watching you "bash" in that skate park, I would say that your Summit will absolutely last forever. Neil Armstrong saw more air in space than that Summit saw in that skate park. But that's ok. Like you said, it is all about having fun.

Run it on batteries with a higher c-rating I got 27 kmh on grass out of mine (I have 7000mah 50c lipo) And you need to switch of the lipo cut of and use a lipo alarm instead, because it throttles at 50% battery to 50% throttle Im really looking forward to the next video with it!

Did I miss something. My Summit will raise up and balloon it's tires. As far as I know I even have stock gearing in it. But maybe when I replaced the spur gear I may have changed it. I love that color.

Thinking about picking one up. I think traxxas should make a 2.0 version that has a lot of components from the E-revo 2.0. It would be bulletproof. I'd also like to see it have the same brushless system as the maxx. It's not as powerful as the 6s system in the E-revo but it still has some punch to it.

I've literally heard the best about the summit and the worse all while trying to buy an trx4 defender for Christmas, but now I'm so confused😟. I will be using 3s all the time. -my choices this time round are; trx4 defender, e-revo 2.0, traxxas summit or the Arrma big rock.

This is an older model that I don't think they make anymore. It was available in the US and it was basically just an E-Revo with a brushed motor, larger tires, softer suspension, and lockable diffs. The trx4 came out much later.
