Stan race sealent, it is so good that if you try to put it through the valve, the valve seals

Stans race sealant when you put the tires on and then top-up with the standard sealant every 3/4 months through the valve with a syringe. Famous last words but I haven't had a puncture that didn't plug fairly instantaneously in about 5 years, on and off road. I used silca chain wax (the black stuff) for the first time last month (took chain off (SRAM Red), cleaned, waxed in the bag etc). Completely coincidentally, my riding buddy (who is a former pro tour mechanic) commented on how free my chainset spun when we were discussing bottom brackets this morning. There is a nice sheen on the links. So the treatment seems to have done a good job. Full disclosure. I am not good enough to be sponsored by anyone:)

I use orange seal if I cross country mountain bike and my gravel bike. yes it does clump up and dry up and lately it’s been clogging my valves replace them lately and I put some silicone lubricant on the valve plungers . Let’s see if that provides a barrier from them clogging up. taking care of two bikes running tubeless is not my preference, but it is what it is.

I think at least SRAM 1x chains are slow because they have those variable width teeth to match chain and although they hold the chain on the chain ring better, there is more contact area and more friction.

How do you adjust silca calculations for inserts? Let’s say a 650x 2.1? And a 700 x 45? Down 2 PSI….3?

When talking about the subject we have to remember that the most durable chains are not the fastest. Asking for the best quality chain to be both the fastest and strongest is like asking for the tire to be both fast, and grippy.

Muc Off sealant is the worst sealant I’ve tried in a mountain bike tire. It doesn’t seem to dry out like a latex sealant but it also doesn’t seal. I’ll never go back to tubes. But I’ll stick with a latex sealant that works. I’ve had good experience with orange seal, stans, caffelatex and others. Haven’t tried the silca sealant. Dylan may be sponsored by Silca but zero friction cycling does actually appear to be genuine, independant testing.

Well. Dylan made an important qualifier. He prefers Silca for race day. He probably uses it generally because he's always on the bike. But he did mention it dries fast. For race day though that's irrelevant. Also they didn't mention it being a pain to top off relative to other options (can't shoot it through a valve stem). I think for most, Orange is probably the best middle ground. Or make your own.

Muc off sealant (the pink stuff) ruined my day last year. That, and my failure to pack plugs or a tube. But the tire pressure was low and the hole small. I am back to tubes for the foreseeable.

Basically all muckoff products are trash level. The company is a marketing machine adding bubble gum scent and coloring to crap products sold at a premium. They don't make anything, they repackage everything. Those products they sell that aren't crap are the result of some OEM doing the RD for them, and slapping their brand on it.

to be fair muc off seems to be terrible at everything except marketing. Their lubes are documented to be pretty much the worst out there, and i never heard anyone say good things about their sealant.

Zero friction cycling sells 200$ dura ace waxed chains to noobs. His claims aren't trustworthy either. Oz cycling has a great tutorial on how to wax yourself very cheaply.

He's very transparent about his methods and the limits of his protocol. The labor to initially strip a chain, and prepare it correctly is meaningful. You will easily recover the $100 premium with wear savings of the drivetrain. It's a lot more money than we're used to, but so is every other part on the bike these days. If you're a person that earns enough to afford a premium road bike, you're likely time-constrained enough, to not want to perform multiple solvent baths, then responsibly dispose of the waste. I'm very grateful for @zerofrictioncycling.

OzCycling’s stuff is actually rubbish. And he got jailed for torturing and murdering his neighbour’s dog so there’s that. $200 for the chain fully prepared isn’t that crazy. Think about the time to prepare each chain, cleaning and waxing. He’s also not forcing anyone to buy them. Be more careful about who you listen to.
