Hello and welcome to the first episode of Building Better, this is a new series on my channel where I will be discussing the meta game and how to climb to challenger on each patch of the year for season 14. This will be covering the best and most op builds to climb for patch 14.2, but I will definitely be taking suggestions and making more videos for patch 14.3, patch 14.4, and more as well throughout all of the new season for league of legends!

Other strong things I could have mentioned but left out to keep the video from going over 20 minutes: Vladimir is right up there with Rengar in the perma ban tier, his items are ridiculously good. Cosmic drive / Liandries / Riftmaker are all so good on him AD Twisted Fate after recent buffs has become a monster, just needed more time to assess how good it really is but I am pretty sure it's completely OP Kalista in high elo / pro play is menace with BORK now proc'ing on the first auto and with items like rageblade and terminus being strong - however this doesn't apply to like 99% of players Katarina and Akali even after several nerfs to stormsurge are still really OP Karma just got buffed and every one is spamming her with Malignance for very low mantra cooldown. Yeah on the ad tf, I was convinced it was weak in patch notes, I started playing it. Then I realized I was playing it like AP tf and still winning games and fights. The more I play it the more I discover that the 60% attack speed on e is next level unbalanced.

Bard has been my main for 5+ years and the new trailblazer is such a good and fun item on him. I usually vary my build a lot depending on what the team needs but almost always take trailblazer, it just helps Bard do things Bard always wants to do regardless but better. It fits with tank builds, with dps builds, burst builds, roam builds, it’s great

@@wchye9734 its more just the constant commercial advertisement at every opportunity that interrupts me watching. Also the builds arent always great and they tend to show/say the wrong things a lot cause its hasnt been revised before being pumped out to people, which can be pretty confusing imo

these kind of videos are amazing! as someone who wants to improve, it gives such a good insight into what builds are good and WHY they are good. Knowing exactly why the build is good feels like its so much more important than just copy the build from a random site. Amazing stuff.

I love, love. This video concept. I must admit I am a little worried about burnout on your end from doing it every patch, I think even every two patches would be plenty. My pocket pick (that I started learning for collegiate Esports) has been maokai top. You build bamis then the op tank items. Your only issue is mana, which you can help fix with a 400g tear (and later a fimbulwinter,) or with careful proccing of mana runes. Into free matchups like Darius, I even take Presence of Mind

Extreme quality video. I watch a lot of channels with this kind of content and I can say I'm impressed by the way you present information+ intro, transitions quality and content on point with what is really op and trends. Loved the malphite item after R, might gonna theorycraft it into other characters 😊. And yes Vladimir is broken, I tried it yesterday and healed 60%hp with a empowered Q and stacked Riftmaker, insane!!!

First off I love the series, I was wondering though when you mention champions that certain items do well with for example the top lane spear build that aatrox, riven, and fiora do well with I know it sounds weird but when you pop the images up it's easier for me to know what champs and to understand it better. Also I LOVE the series and I plan on listening to all tips/trick you end up uploading.

The lichbane attack speed was huge for my own ahri builds. I always played her as more of a discount APC DPS with riftmaker and glacial augment, letting other champs be the burst for the backline while I poured damage into whatever I could reach. With the lichbane buff, riftmaker becoming a legendary, and being able to pair it with ludens, my winrate with spell dancer ahri shot through the roof, not to say what happenes when I get magilance

HoB Ekko was build for some time but almosy exclusively by ekko mains/otps. It was taken in matchups vs champs that had skillshot at lvl 1 (Syndra Q, Zed Q, Orianna Q etc.), you would take E lvl 1 and bait their spell, dodge it with E, jump on them, proc passive with HoB and run away with almost no counterplay for enemy.

yeah I went nuts when I first saw how many items Ingenious Hunter worked with. There are 48 items not counting trinkets which is just an unreal number of valid targets. Part of what makes ingenious so good is that it gives you 16% CDR at level 1 right from the start of the game which gives you 33 seconds off of your ward trinket cooldown. Once stacked up you get 33% from just this one rune.

Just to add, the new tank item and frozen heart works wonders for bard as well. The Bard OTP is R1 on EUW currently with it, and I've won 8/9 games so far :D

I have a build I've been using on Wukong Jungle. Since lethality items have been super strong lately I tried it out. While not OP, it's a great alt. If you want that burst build on him. I rush Profane, get Voltaic Cyclosword, then Shojin. For jungle item, its up to preference but I get the green one for a bit of tankiness but blue if you want more speed. Profane has a lot of stats you'd want early on Wukong, Voltaic helps with chasing and burst, then Shojin helps you stick to your target if you haven't killed them yet. There are other lethality builds out there but this one works the best for me.

I love the items and I am so happy mythics where removed. They just need to tune the items which will take time, because it is hard to tell if the item or the user(s) are to strong. Currently just happily spamming Senna + Sion bot games with my duo, we just reached diamond with 73% win rate together with 26 games. (Senna seems also really strong right now, at least in winrate)

The HoB ekko is insane. The rune was in the game all this time, completely unchanged. Ekko didn't even receive any Atk speed buff's but nobody experimented, so it never existed, but was essentially this strong on him since S11.

What I find overlooked is Sejuani, she is secretly OP: buy sunfire/mr new sunfire, heartsteel, then abyssal mask or iceborn (depending On enemy team comp) and after those four finish with thornmail. Damn she has tone of damage this way, couple of games i finished with the most damage dealt in team, you can actively prey on carries

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't Luden's Companion receive no benefit from Ingenious Hunter as it's stacks are not generated on cooldown rather a count up?

I believe this is correct yeah? However it does reduce CD of lich bane and cryptbloom. Ludens is just your best mana item for ahri, it's also getting buffed next patch. Generally though yes Ludens is pretty underwhelming

@@Exil22 I personally prefer Malignance over Luden's for the additional 20 haste on ult plus the DoT AoE with Resistance reduction, though I understand the Luden's means you're not obligated to all-in for the full item value.

I honestly think that hubris feels so niche because someone like a talon does his job reguardless of the extra 40 ad hubris might or might not give which isnt enough fot him to kill tanks anyway. So items that actually help him are more utility based like ghostblade and oppurtunity or EoN

Udyr main here, and I'm here to tell you, you've not seen a tank Udyr yet this season. As R max archetype, run unending despair & fimbulwinter with ingenious hunter of course. Add jak'sho to add insane value to your unending despair & fimbulwinter & W heal and shield & awakened W heal and shield. Enemies need an absurd combined DPS to take you down because if they can't go over the threshhold where unending despair and awakened W heal you thousands of HP back up, you'll just never die with this build. Sure frozen heart and kaernic rookern make you a tough bastard, but they don't last you in teamfights that last 4 minutes long.

Seraphs or ludens Shadowflame and cosmic are good 2nd items but my personal favorite is horizon focus Cryptbloom is always better than void, haste is too important His late game still sucks and doesn't have enough damage or mobility to carry fights. Too hard to position. With that being said you want to buy defensive items last and let your team carry you if the game goes late. I don't like dcap for this reason. Surprisingly, utility items aren't bad. Mandate and shurelya are viable

Whatever's good to climb currently, it's not as good as my Hwei. I've got a 90% winrate over 15 games, went from Plat 4 to Emerald 4 in a few days spamming him Mid. Sorc boots, Seraph into Shadowflame into Zhonya (Though, if you need more damage and don't have to worry about getting jumped, a Stormsurge/Cryptbloom can be done instead) has been carrying hard. EDIT : Although that Ekko build seems very bullshit, I remember fighting one and it had to be one of the lanes I had a hard time winning. (Did win in the end, EQ just fucks Ekko if you time it right.)

Great Video, but one question: you said that voidgrubs are so important, but are they? it feels like saving one ore two autos on a turret isnt that strong or if u are a splitpusher u dont need the dmg anyway, for me they are the biggest questionmark of the season: are they strong or bait?

with multiple voids you can push in turrets really fast, the win con for me high elo games is ace at baron or dragon and push hard, with grubs stacks you can do this so fast that you can win the game and snowball very far ahead with just a few teamfights. Grubs=tempo and money!

Funny how they're calling it the AD Mejai's... *Rocks back and forth, pipe in hand* Aye... I remember the last game I played while Sword of the Occult was still in-game... That enemy Fiora showed us no mercy. An item that must never be brought back.
