Hey, TheThings fans! Welcome back to another video. Disney and Pixar's newest animation, Luca, is making waves on Disney Plus and we just discovered why.
Starring Jacob Tremblay and Jack Dylan Grazer, the film is a beautiful coming of age story that follows 13 year old sea monster Luca, who lives off of the coast of the Italian Riviera. He gets the opportunity to have the summer of his life alongside his new best friend Alberto as they discover the human world and just exactly what gelato is.
While on the surface Luca may just seem like your average Disney film, we’re here to show you it’s so much more. The studios first film to solely focus on the beautiful Italian culture, is piled high with amazing symbolism, legends, and touching personal stories.
Believe it or not, the legends of the sea monsters are a big part of the Italian culture especially in their fishing towns, and director Enrico Casarosa, who was born in Italy, added his personal touch to the film in the most unforgettable way.
The best part of Luca's story? The true meaning and symbolisms the filmmakers were able to portray through the characters and setting. Ready to find out what the true meaning of Luca is?

Well it doesn't have to always be a tear jerking or heart warming to be considered a good Pixar movie. Pixar movies can be just fun and a good time, not needing to something big or world changing. But I getcha, Pixar movies are great.

My 30 year old husband cried after the credits aired. He was holding it in. I could see himself in that little boy - wanting to explore, race and ride so they can win the ultimate prize, ice cream/pasta (my husband’s favorites), dreaming of big things, friendship…it really touched him ❤️

Luca set in Italy in the ’50s, is modest to a fault, and at times it feels generic enough to be an animated feature from almost any studio. But it’s a visually beguiling small-town nostalgia trip, as well as a perfectly pleasant fish-out-of-water fable - literally, since it’s about a boy sea monster who longs to go ashore.

In our school and college we have all had a friend like Luca or Alberto or Giulia. I know cause I had a friend like Alberto who always kept encouraging me. This movie was very nostalgic for me.

For those who noticed how Enrico Casarosa's hair resembles Luca's : Its Because the movie is literally based on his own childhood ! Alberto the character is also based directly on his real-life bestfriend ; Alberto Surace. Ofc theyre not really sea monsters, but its a metaphor of feeling like an "outsider" or " different" when growing up

Luca is so intent on meaning something that it only ever halfway inhabits the delightfully colorful world it lays out. We never get a deeper understanding of the history between the sea monsters and the humans beyond some hints that there has been far more interaction than Luca was raised to believe.

In the start there’s a boat with people in it so in the background is the ‘snake island’ which has over 3000+ snakes maybe, and the island is so familiar to the snack one. And the water surrounded by it is the same as well. So the movie Luca’s backgrounds are from real life.

I hope this is an original plot of mine but I don't know .... I hope that there will be a luca 2 where luca and julia have grown up and married and have had a child who is half sea monster and half human and the story can be similar to luca's but kinda different.... She/he is restricted from the sea by their parents due to some sorta danger what so ever and she/he decides to explore it anyways? How cool would that be!🤯
