It's supposed to be like "Lavender Castle" if you remove the extra letters (a ton of people put emphasis on the VEN which sounds super weird to me!!) (yes it's an L not an i)
I was thinking of rebranding to a different name entirely, but that's too much effort and a lot of people would be confused sooooo... yeah. Also fun fact the name lavencas was kind of a placeholder until I thought of something that sounded better, but my channel exploded way faster than I would've ever imagined and by that point it was too late...
Name change might happen eventually... but I'm afraid of people not liking it lol (rn I'm torn between either laven or cas with a slight preference to cas)

In flash isaac you can make Pin kill himself with his own ipecac shot if you stand next to him. And as for the shops, i've never had a shop pay out with anything helpful. you're better off donating to beggers. OOH, and sacrifice rooms ruin your devil deal chances

If you plan to use Brimstone, under no circumstances do you pick up anything that has Shot Speed Up as a perk. It'll reduce the beam's time on the screen and reduce damage. It's not worth picking up Chocolate Milk since it used to be an amazing synergy way back in the day, but now a full-charged Choco-Brim only deals roughly 50% its normal damage. Also, because of Shot Speed Up, Lump of Coal is not as useful as it would be. Also, calm down, especially with Mom's Heart. It cannot do any Bullet Hell behaviors. The worst it can do is spawn enemies and eventually shoot Ipecac shots. It doesn't do any bullet hell patterns nor does it have the Brimstone beams. That will maximize the chance you get to going into Sheol or Cathedral.

Ok so here are some tips for flash Isaac #1 if there is an active item, also pick it up even if you're just gonna put it right back down, as in flash Isaac, no items ever leave the pools until they are picked up #2 getting Krampus is really good in this version as because there is no head of Krampus, you are guaranteed a lump of coal.

Also if you didn't take a devil deal in a run you can get a angel deal instead of a devil deal on your next run. Unless you closed the game

Ah the old days of isaac, lol, trust me, that struggle, a lot of us understand it SUPER well! Couple details: -The best way to bypass ending the game after mom's heart is by not getting damaged, that's how you got entry into Sheol -Mom is a lot easier in this game, just stick to one of the doors, she never stomps if you are hanging out next to the doors, hugging the wall -My personal way of dealing with Satan's final phase here is to stock up on bombs and spam them as I run in circles, dodging the leeches, it never failed me! -Like in repentance, you will unlock it Lives after your 5th mom's heart kill, so keep it up! -Don't waste your keys on shops unless you actually got at least 15c or a Steam sale, money is actually hard earned here!

dont you unlock it lives after 11th mom kill? 1- 4 mom's heart kills are unlocks, 5th is Everything is Terrible (makes the game harder), 6-9 are unlocks, 10 is ??? unlock, and 11th is It Lives

Oh, i suppose you may know by now, but the reason you can't use Joker cards in Sheol in this one is cuz the original idea was that you don't get devil deals in hell. Ed was originally going to be very mean and make it work like Emperor, but Satan was such a hard fight that he made it a random teleport to give a chance for some health and items / charges

Yeah, it's a mix of a couple things. Part of it is the fact that there are just so much fewer ways to get strong enough to make it a fair fight, but also that Sheol was a chance to reach it (and the only way to guarantee it was to have a Joker by the time you beat the boss in Utero II) Satan was intentionally ass-blastingly hard back then, he was technically a superboss you could only get to if you played perfectly or got really lucky

I always thought the devil room was thematic. Issac’s mom locked him away with no clothes or anything else cause she thought god told her to stop him from being tainted by sin. Eventually this escalated to her killing him before he could ever bring corrupted in order to save his soul. By surviving your letting yourself be tainted by witnessing and being corrupted by the various instances of sin you encounter. The devil wants you to be corrupted so he can claim your soul. This is why the devil deals only appear if you don’t take damage. If you die along the way then your soul is saved but if you survive and kill your mother your fodder for the devil. So only when you don’t take damage and are at no risk of dying dose the devil step in to aid you with items that give you strength since you can survive without the extra hearts. So when you defeat your mother and enter the depths your soul is already forfeit. You need to then enter hell and defeat the devil to reclaim your soul. Defeating him and the evils that taint you. The devil no longer needs you to survive, your soul is his and he now wants to kill you to claim it. That’s why he dosent offer to trade with you. He already owns you, he has nothing to gain because you have nothing to give him that isn’t already his. You need to rid yourself of evil and resist temptation thusly you can’t bargain with the devil. By entering the depths you’ve committed to that goal and decided not to rely on him for power. Meaning you’ve reach a impasse. Nether you nor the devil have anything to trade each other or even the desire to do so.

The best dumb synergy I remember from flash isaac is book of shadows + the virus. Virus used to do CRAZY levels of damage, and book of shadows lets you use that without getting damaged in this version.

There is a challenge called "Dark was the night". You should complete it before Amy other challenge. It unlocks the blue candle, the second best active in game

Pre-Repentance, it would always take any Soul or Demon hearts before taking your last half read heart. I do not miss that fact and am very glad you can empty your red health first without Crow's Heart.

im a player since flash Isaac but my favourite era is the Afterbirth+ one, with all "booster packs", because there were so many easy breaks and breeze to get broken runs. Although Repentance added a lot of great natural synergies

Double book in the library was bc it was the last item in the pool iirc. Not picking an active item up won’t mark it at “seen” and since the book of Belial wasn’t “seen” yet and the pool had items in it, both pedestals were the remaining book

As a heads up in flash isaac you need to pick up space bar items even if you dont want them. They will stay in the item pool if you don't.

Another reason why magic 8 ball and cat o ninetails (which is just shot speed) are so bad in og isaac is because lump of coal is the only item krampus drops. The way lump of coal works in flash issac (and old rebirth, got buffed I believe) is the amount of time spent in the air, not distance traveled, so shot speed ups with lump of coal are just damage downs.

It's been a very long while since I concerned myself with the og isaac, but from what I do remember: > Brimstone was THE item to have. Lump of Coal made it 1000x better. (This is what I commonly saw people do.) I do want to believe that Sacred Heart did exist...? > Cricket was called Max. Not sure why the name changed. > Not a lot of items existed back then. I wanna say you might be working with not even 1/16th of the items we have nowadays. (Someone can correct me on that math, im bad) > Good builds were extremely hard to come by, unless you focused primarily on devil deals (Brimstone aside). > Guppy was _insanely_ op. Every player wanted a chance to get that transformation, as it pretty much made you close to a god back then. > There was no Dark Room back then, so you couldn't fight the Lamb (despite the expansion being called "Wrath of the Lamb"). > Thus, there was little reason to go to Sheol, other than to get a chance to have that Satan kill (or get killed by him.) Anybody can correct me on these if they'd like. My memory of the old isaac is fuzzy at best.

Sacred Heart existed, Fakered Heart didn't. Good builds were not as much of a requirement, nowadays you HAVE to be op to have a chance on beating Hush and Delirium (and Mother, to an extent). Then, you just needed patience, experience and a bit of luck. Also Brimstone/Guppy/Mom's Knife = "You Win" button :D And both Sheol and Cathedral teleport you to The Chest if you have polaroid.

There were 196 items in the original game, and there are currently 719 in Repentance, so it's closer to 1/4 rather than 1/16.

In flash Isaac, if you don't have enough red hearts for a devil deal, you can still take the deal at no additional cost (no soul hearts needed) so you could have taken the familiar and the dead cat and still ended up at 1 red heart

Thing about the synergies in the 2011 Isaac is, that there is simply not a ton of items. All pickups together in the old one only equal to 196 Items, While Repantance has...I think 719?

Shot speed ups are actually a damage down in this game, as Lump of Coal (one of the most consistently achievable damage ups) bases its damage up on how long the tear is in the air, not distance from your character. Thank you for the entertainment and nostalgia

@@ovaiggy This is very true, you could take it if you really struggle with range, but it will not increase the damage, as it only increases the distance due to the tear traveling faster. The rooms are a fair bit smaller in the flash version, so I never saw a reason to take them when I played. You'd usually get a range up before it becomes necessary, as a boss item or otherwise

If there’s an active item you don’t want to see in the current run anymore, you have to pick it up. Or else it could spawn later in the run again.

Oh and tip with brim. Fully charge then tap the direction your firing. There was a bug in flash issac where you could restart the initial hit and just destroy bosses

pretty sure in this game, you can take 1 heart deals for free before a 2 heart deal if it's your last red health because you can take trade 2 heart deals for only 1 last red health. So like i think that sister maggy would've been free, nbd but just a tip.

OG Isaac was wayyy harder than repentance. It can be broken, but it takes min/maxing, luck, and patience. Also, if you stand against the top wall, red flies can't reach you.

Hello, I'm a Vanilla Isaac player of 3 years. I started playing Isaac in like 2017 ig but my pc didn't run RB somehow so I played vanilla for like 3 years until my dad bought a new laptop. Here are some stuff I wanted to point about the things you said in the video: Blood donations never took your last half red heart until rep. Krampus never shot diagonal lasers until rep. Krampus's Head didn't exist in vanilla. The Virus was always a speed down until rep. I think they fixed the soul heart cap bug in later updates but I remember finding ways to farm infinite soul hearts in vanilla lol. Super secret rooms didn't have to be close to the boss room in vanilla, and since every room was designed to never block all four doors it could be literally everywhere lmao. Your build didn't blow, it was pretty decent in vanilla standarts, that's just how vanilla is.

Fun fact: you can turn invincible on the pony (not the white one). Just pres spacebar and use your mouse to shoot. And if you got Epic Fetus... Well, now bosses can't even push you out of the range. Or you can just get meat boy and wait for a while.

Something that I remember about the old flash game was that cards/pills would crash you if you picked up too many after taking PHD. Bisnap would just not pick up tarot cards after Depths II

I used to play OG Issac on my mom's laptop in 2012 so I knew the struggle lmao. My mind was still hardwired for super broken OG Issac when I picked up Repentence so learning that you have all these new QoL and new synergies has been fun to see. Basically you want to abuse Devil Rooms as hard as possible cause all the items are kinda weak until you beat challenges.

throw me back to my highschool days, when this came out i remember every student in the school had it on USB, and every single class on computer had someone playing it in a corner, that or LAN quake 3 (sometime with the teacher in my classes), i'm talking of a time when tactile phones barely came out, mobile games weren't a big thing yet, i mean we could barely fit more than a dozen music track on our phone before filling the memory completely, we had to delete messages often or we couldn't receive more because the phone memory would be full, and personal laptops were a very rare thing too and everyone agreed to say this game was hard af so it's not just you don't worry

OG Isaac Game Break strat: 1. Unlock the D6. 2. Find Greed in a secret room. 3. When fighting Greed, wait til he spawns those jumping enemies, then kill Greed so he drops an item but leave the other enemies alive. 4. Exit the secret room (they don’t close up when fighting Greed in OG Isaac). 5. Repeat as many times as you can to get as many item drops as you want. 6. REROLL!!!!!

If my memory serves me correct, you have to have guppys head with you in order to get guppy transformation. Meaning if you have 3 pieces and the head is one of them and you get rid of the head, you lose the transformation aswell

Pro isaac flash tips: don't ever go into the shop. Just don't. Most of the time it's useless and you cant use a restock machines because they don't exist

In case it has not been mentioned, regarding Lump of Coal. It makes the tear stronger the more frames it's on screen, not distance travelled, so a shot speed upgrade makes Lump of Coal worse. Also, regarding synergies, the website platinumgod can tell you have different items synergise. 10:20 It's "skipping" two item rooms (by skipping the item) and killing mom

Old Isaac player here! Started in Wrath of the Lamb. (that one DLC that didn't have The Lamb in it anywhere but the title) On a previous video, you found the Game Squid; it was added by Florian Himsl, the OG developer, after he played Rebirth and was inspired to make a free update for the OG flash version, the Eternal Edition. He also changed the way the D6 behaves, and that's what the Eternal D6 is. 1:34 no money crutch here! 2:49 good decision, Crack the Sky sucks in old Isaac. Makes no effort to track targets, and doesn't do much damage when it hits. 5:33 surviving with only soul hearts and empty red heart containers was not a thing for a long time. 11:22 full meat boy is great! And if it weren't for Book of Revelations, the Relic or the Miter, I'd probably never have gotten anywhere with blue baby Other notes: - The game is extremely un-charitable about devil deals regarding red health damage. There is no "i wasn't hit by an enemy so it's OK" system, so even curse room doors and blood donations aren't safe. - Movement speed didn't have a cap until Rebirth; it was very very easy to become uncontrollably fast, like with GFuel. - There's no EID here, but you can use platinumgod.co.uk's original Isaac page for item info.

2:27 In this devil deal you could have taken the other item too for free before taking nine lives because in this game it works like that, only in rebirth do the deals change after you take one item, and you'd end up with 1 red heart and 3 sacred hearts still.

I've been playing Isaac for years now and only just started getting into the community. I'd like to get the verson that Lavencas usually plays but I'm unsure what version it is. Could somebody also tell me the best version to play vanilla?? I'm unsure about what version to get for my PS4

My advice: Forget everything about Repentance, and focus on Guppy, ignore early shops, and try to get the D6 for Isaac as soon as possible. Don't even bother trying to find a build, you'll never get it consistently, if ever again after the first time you find it Also try to find Tear ups

5:19 truly a repentance player moment in pre-repentance versions you couldn't get all red hearts empty, when repentance came out I noticed the change and I was both grateful and scared (I fr thought that it killed me)

If I remember correctly you can get items you've already seen but haven't picked up in the original Isaac. So with some game breaks you can get insane builds. I remember Cobalt Streak getting like 8 sacred hearts in one room.

I'm not sure Edmund even had Cricket the cat when the original Isaac originally came out which might be why it's 'Max's Head' instead.

Book of Shadows is great with Virus and the three orbitals (cube of meat, sac dagger, guardian angel). Dagger is really strong. Also, because of you, I am playing Flash again. I have to beat Eternal Samson and get Spelunker Boy, then I will have 100%ed it. :)

One pro-tip: Whenever you die, remember to exit the game before going back in. There's a bug with devil room % not being reset between games. So, if you die because you got hit on your red hears (especially at a boss), then your next game, the first devil room will have 1% chance to spawn, because it's not set to 100% at the start of the level.

Here's a fun flash fact for you: Goat Hoof will increase your speed past the 2.0 speed cap in this game. It's incredibly minor, but neat nontheless

I played the flash version for a very long time. Even wayy after Rebirth was released. Mostly because the only gaming device I had was my dad's laptop wich would already lag on long runs and would simply not run Rebirth at all, it would just crash on startup. and I must say, while the artstyle is nostalgic and I like the music better; Rebirth was such a massive improvement to the game. Like, there's just no contest. Even when I had no idea what items were in Rebirth, I could really feel the limited item pool being a problem in the flash Isaac because there were so few attack-ups. Stacking babies was literally a viable strategy because there really weren't many ways to make your attacks hit harder, making most runs feel oh so slow, worsening the longer you went into the run without a damage up. Brimstone was grossly overpowered, but the lack of damage ups really made it more worth it to reset if the first devil deal didn't have brimstone, because then bosses would take forever to kill and in turn, they would have a lot more time to kill you. I have a lot of nostalgia for flash Isaac, but I'd be lying if I said Rebirth isn't the better game.

I could be mistaken but I remember that blood dono/curse room damage will kill your devil deal chances, so try to do it after the boss.

Stuff you should take in mind when playing flash Isaac Curse rooms might be connected to secret rooms so it is worth checking them if you are out of bombs but high on health Every single source of damage can take away your devil chances if takes away red hearts EVERY SINGLE one And if you are playing BOI eternal Edition or last dlc for flash Isaac, there is also its own hard mode worth to play and its exclusive transformation Eternal Isaac + Shops are worth checking if you can afford stuff from them, as it often sells Treasure room items because of how low the amount of shop items are there And brimstone is also curse room item pool.

So yeah in pre Issac plus or repentance machines wouldn’t let you reach less than half a red heart cause it would kill you for some reason that’s why it took your soul hearts and as you might have noticed secret rooms close after you leave too also yeah using the joker card after the point of no more devil deals just teleports you because the engine would know where to put you after you left since there was no “initial entrance” to the devil deal

Each iteration has had item power creep, so it makes sense that you think that items suck in classic. But fairly simple items have a larger impact in this game

In flash Issac the boss door will almost always be left of the spawn room. I think they changed this in rebirth though.

Ah yes, original flash Isaac, I remember being hyped for Rebirth (but unable to play it bc of slow computer), so I tried to get to Mega Satan in Wrath of The Lamb, yeah, good times
