Klaus is the best and most well-written character in the entire TVD and the originals universe. The character development, perfectly written backstory, his point of view and things he’s passionate about, he’s redemption path, everything. These thing were so brilliantly executed and expressed on the originals. And for that the originals will always be my favorite show.

The originals was something special. It’s rare to get attached to a show so much and that’s because of how good it was every single season. And they knew what they were doing with legacies. Most of the fandom likes it because how couldn’t you. They forced us into loving hope as if she was our own family by showing us for five seasons how her family cared for her and fought for her since she was in the womb and then we saw her grow up. How can someone not get attached to that character? I love hope so much and I think she’s amazing because of that love her family had for her

@@eseschannel12 Totally agree. I love each of the characters so much and can't help but see Hope as a daughter to me since the moment I heard her heartbeat when she was in Hayley's womb. I could go on about how attached I am to each of the originals and how hard it was to move on from that ending in season 5. The Mikaelsons feel like family, because I too am broken just like them. I will love them always and forever

Ha Yoon 하윤 that ending was heartbreaking and I cry every time I watch it. The amount of love klaus shows for his daughter shows how much hope matters as a character. She did what no one else could. She made klaus redeemable. She made him accept his family and most of all Elijah’s love for him. She took this person who didn’t care about anyone or anything and turned him into someone who would die for any of his family. That’s character growth. Ha Yoon 하윤 they were supernatural creatures but also just as normal as everyone else. I love every single character in that show but of course my favorites are Elijah and Klaus. Their love for each other was so palpable. It was hard not to feel for them. It really would take forever to say everything I feel for everyone on that show. Goes to show how well written it was

To answer the "why it exists" part: The original family was introduced as antagonists on TVD. But their backstory and the characters themselves were way too brilliantly written to just be a side story for another show. The characters were way too charming and the actors were way too talented to have them be antagonists that get defeated or eventually leave the show. The fans quickly became obsessed with the mikaelsons family and started making their own fanmade trailers for "The originals" as a series or movie. The production company saw it's potential through fanmade trailers and their fan following and gave them a backdoor pilot which was hugely successful so they got picked up by the network. Also, the originals is the first successful spinoff from cw and one of the very few spinoffs that generated the same amount of fans and viewership as the original show. The fact that it is a spin off based on not the side characters of a show (which most spin offs are) but the ANTAGONISTS of a show makes it all the more brilliant.

The Originals is ONE AMAZING tv series, better than TVD, and it's so rare to find a spin-off better than the “ original ” series. The characters truly have developments and so many things happens. Everything based on the love, the loyalty, protecting this hybrid child because it will help the family to find that love they kinda lost but most importantly to change Niklaus and lead him to redemption. It's SUCH A GREAT show, I recommed everyone to watch it if you didn't already.

Joseph Morgan's acting as Klaus is beyond amazing and deserves an Emmy! The Original siblings are probably the most interesting characters to have ever been created. It exists because fans of TVD loved the Original family when they were first introduced in TVD. Also, TVD fans have matured since then so this show also catered to them.

That said he does has a point that it seems very out of place in the overall thematic the channel has going. That'smostlywhere he was going with that, since it's very strange for a mature show to be born from a teen-drama show. And even less for it to remain on a network shock fullof teen drama shows. Though they must be doing something right if they managed to make a darker spin-off work in that network. It actually kind of reminds me of the contrast that Buffy and Angel used to have in their glory days. After the Angel spin-off begins Buffy loses someof the dark tones that Angel inherently brought to the original show, with Angel becoming the darker and broodier show and Buffy being a lot more humor-filled.

The Originals is one show I didn't expect to be on this channel, what with it going beyond being a shitty teen drama. Unlike TVD, I found the Originals to be a lot more mature with their adult characters and the problems focusing on their dysfunctional family, loyalty to each other despite personal morality, and a villain here and there. While at the time (middle school) I loved TVD, it's character development and overall elements of the show were juvenile and very static- two brothers in love with the same problamatic girl...that's it. So, in my opinion (and I'm sure many others) The Originals is much better, almost too good for a spin off haha. Watch a few more episodes, I think you'll understand what I and a lot of other comments are saying :)

The Originals really is a phenomenal show. It's so well constructed and layered that it can stand on its own. pretty much completely apart from TVD. I love how the characters just live in the gray area. they never do anything particularly good for anyone but themselves and yet I love them to pieces. I agree that it is a lot more mature.

The Originals focuses on how subjective morality is for a family that has been around for a 1000 years. They kill a bunch people and it just falls in the category of normal. Family, Loyalty, Betrayal are the 3 things that make The Originals tick. #HopeMikaelsonIsAwesome

Why did they kill off Haley??? In the last frickin season and it wasn't even in a relevant episode OR storyline. Fuck this, Hope could have gone batshit crazy even if Hayley was just kidnapped, like why kill of my fav actress who is one of the goddamn best in the show? Also with legacies coming out, jeez, we know that Hope's gunna be okay, I'm not even excited about the ending anymore....

You really should watch a few more episodes of the Originals because honestly, the show isn’t that bad and its plot is pretty good (not to mention the GORGEOUS cast). Its definitely better than the mess that the last few seasons of TVD was AND the explanation of how a vampire got someone pregnant was FAR better than what Twilight explained to us

The originals is so much more than a vampire show. A lot of us grew up with the vampire diaries and when it ended we were in our mid twenties and this is a show for those of us who want something more mature/adult. You should watch the rest of the show it really is good. I’m stoked to see everyone defending it here in the comments. It really is a good show. Especially for the CW.

TVD and The Originals have only three major problems in my opinion, one, the high school setting in TVD, two, Steffan trying so hard to be Angel from Buffy, and failing, and three, the vampire myth in this universe is lame and stupid, other than that, most of vampires and supernatural creatures are like they should be, ruthless and cruel.

@@UnidentifiedAnon My issue is the mythology of the Originals, not the plot, in other media and books, vampires are much, much, older than 1000 years, of all the vampire media that I consume, TVD and The Originals has the younger vampires in existence, hell, even in Underworld they are more older, in other media they are three thousand years old or older, their origins are surrounded in mystery and myth, but the Originals are kids compared to them, that is my problem.

I don't get your question as to why The Originals were made. The Originals target audience were people who've spent their teen years watching TVD and as 18-19-20-something yr olds wanted a more mature show, but with a similar premise - i started watching TVD when i was 14 and now i'm 22, so it was a good move from the CW, they know their audiences pretty well - also, a lot of us watched TO bc Klaus, I mean, come on, he is (was) by far, one of the best characters in the TVD "universe". Series finale did not do him justice. give a few more episodes a chance perhaps. I usually love most of your videos, but just like the series finale of the originals, this video was a let down. sorry :)

Agreed with everything you said until "Series finale did not do him justice." because that couldn't be further from the truth. The ending absolutely did him justice, it is the epitome of his character development. For a thousand years he's never cared for anyone more than he cared for himself, he never hesitated to stab each one of his siblings over and over, then locking them in a coffin for years or even decades, when he found out about the pregnancy he didn't want to help/save Hailey, he didn't want this child out of fear of what this kind of love would do to him. Throughout the seasons he learnt how to love his daughter, how to let people in (thanks to Cami too), how to be more vulnerable and, at the end of it all, he died for his daughter, out of love for her and in total selflessness. So yeah, it's sad and I was heartbroken but it made sense, and it did do him justice.
