I have one more alternative to remember the OSI model layers but its in hindi and it goes like [Aaj-->Phir-->Se-->Test-->Nahi-->Dena-->Padega] this is top to bottom approach. Hope this will add some value, Thank You.

Maybe I missed a part or two but I want to ask that "Can 2 application layers from 2 end users communicate with each other directly or it both have to travel down to physical layers accordingly?" because what is the point of the line connecting 2 layers from different OSI model to each other? Thank you

If it's peer-to-peer network, that means two devices are directly connected to each other without any intermediary nodes then it's fine to exchange data directly through lower layers. Imagine two laptops connected via a cable, direct files transfer is possible with security since the network established there has just two devices. For network with multiple devices which are connected through various intermediary nodes, security is more important and hence data is directed via physical layer as to avoid attackers from directly accessing your data through application layer.

@@harmonyOfEureka peer-to-peer doesn't need servers to transfer data because the nodes to which data is transferred are the end devices (destination devices). Since there are no intermediary nodes like routers, switches direct transfer is possible and quicker as well
