Power Creep certainly does a number on the viability of most Pokemon but what about the other side of the coin? We often think Power Creep in terms of offense but offense isn't the only thing that gets power crept. #pokemon

The year is 20XX, and it’s generation 69, and smogon finally banned Ferrothorn and Toxapex from Ultra OUBL, and now only allowed in Triple Ubers. Chansey and Blissey both fell from Mega Gigachad OU to untiered, but it had a niche in Triple ZU during the first wave of DLC. Ultra Instinct Swampert’s new ability Sap Sipper was too powerful that the new Mega Evolution: Mega Kartana VMAX didn’t have a chance that Swamper got banned from OU V to Anything Goes GX. you again huh? I told you, pokemon is highly predictable. I'm tired of these nonsensical hyperbolic pokemon predictions, full of these fake new forms and other terms pokemon are apparently going to get to illustrate how far out of control the power creep in pokemon will be. despite the status of 69 as a Funny Internet Number, your prediction of generation 69 is way too far off from the consistent and observable pace of a generation every 3 years. 2069 should see the debut of generation 22. personally I think this is a far scarier notion, of pokemon continuing to march at the same pace for decades without any change at all.

Zama's BST and ability is nerfed to keep it the same with Zacian's since they are direct counterparts. @the_bookworm8281
@the_bookworm8281 Жыл бұрын
@@cintronproductions9430 Nah. Nothing fundamentally changed about it that would allow it back to OU. I would actually say the addition of Body Press makes Zama-Crowned more buffed than nerfed overall. It is the move that pieces its overall playstyle and attributes beautifully. Before you had to worry about Howl (+1 Atk rise) + Close Combat. Now you have to worry about Iron Defense (+2 Def rise) + Body Press, coming off its higher base defense. It is now 140 instead of 145, but that is still phenomenal defense. Oh yeah, opposing Knock Off does nothing to it, and it is immune to both Trick and Toxic, as well as resisting rocks. It is still blazing fast for a defensive focused mon, and while it went from 92/145/145 to 92/140/140 (HP/Def/SpD), that is still phenomenal bulk. I'd say normal Zama-Hero is nerfed overall since it doesn't benefit from Body Press as much as Zama-Crowned does, but it is still way too strong for OU, and BP is still a very nice addition to its toolkit.

I'm sorry. When the designs were first revealed, I internally remarked that Zamazenta looked better than Zacian. The psychics leashed in the Pokemon Company's basement intercepted this and the game devs went on a crusade to continue ensuring the mons I like remain unviable. I never wanted to hurt anybody, I just thought shield dog looked cool.

That's not reverse power creep, that's just individual buffs. Power creep is about the overall power of the metagame, which has consistently gone up, except arguably in gen 8 with Z moves and Megas gone and Dynamax banned. Edit: Actually, that means that gen 8 was still adding power creep, since it's about what the developers do to influence the metagame, not what Smogon does.

One piece of Defensive Powercreep was featured in the Scarlet Violet story mode, but I'm actually not sure how useful it actually is. On Iono'a team, her representative Tera Pokemon was Tera-Electric Mismagius. Using Terastalization, it could turn any pokemon with the Levitate ability into a stronger and/or bulkier Eelektross: toting 0 Weaknesses and likely better stats or moves than Eelektross.

This brings back memories of Gen 2 where I would use Umbreon to slaughter entire teams. Could he be beaten? Of course, but not many people used Fighting types and next to no one used Bug. Even so, I made my defensive bulk high enough that I couldn't be taken out even by super effective moves. That bulk combined with Leftovers, Double Team and Moonlight meant I essentially never went down. Toxic took out most enemies. My 4th move was usually either Confuse Ray, Mean Look, Protect, or Sunny Day. In some cases, I'd replace Moonlight with Rest. Even if Umbreon went down, I had Snorlax. With more offensive styles in mind, I also ran Jolteon for its speed and sheer damage output. Espeon or Alakazam covered psychic when I was choosing to not use legendary pokemon though I prefered Espeon since it could better take a hit, did almost the same damage, was usually fast enough, and had a similarly impressive move pool. The other 2 pokemon I used varies a lot between Tyranitar, Scizor, Gengar, or Skarmory for the most part. If my friends wanted me to go all out, I'd use Mewtwo, but he was so stupid OP and I rarely felt the need to incorporate him into my team. Instead of Jolteon, I also ran Zapdos (largely due to its immunity to ground and lack of weakness to electric), Those were simpler times ^_^

@weesticles650

This explains why so many people I talk to really don't like gen 9 OU and prefer Nat Dex or some other format. The cutting of all healing moves PP in half combined with less Pokémon getting Heal Bell, Armomatherapy, Defog, Scald, Toxic and Teleport makes it way harder to play defensively. Defog especially since it makes hazard stack way more prominent meaning almost every Pokémon has to wear HDB to not get chipped which means they skip out on Leftovers recovery. The reason the generation has so many bans and is regarded as not fun is because there was extreme offensive powercreep without barely any defensive power creep. If anything they tried their damnedest to make playing defensive hard as hell. It's just like fighting games, you may hate Zoners but they're necessary for a healthy meta in the same way defensive mons are necessary for keeping offensive mons in check.
