I haven't seen one comment yet about how the husband is a guilty party too. Women love to blame the other woman, without looking at the husband first. The other woman is the OTHER WOMAN. Your husband is your HUSBAND. He's the one that's been with you for years. You should be wondering how your husband actually felt about you all those years. I also feel that, if you LOVE two people go with the second person, because if you actually loved the first person, another person wouldn't be a problem. ALSO THIS MOVIE CAME OUT IN 2009. Some people are like how they saved money....................... its already online. just my opinion.. holyshit over a thousand likes, I haven’t looked at this comment in a while. 😅 thanks man

This movie tries to support adultery, and doesn't care for the ones who suffer the most (the faithful spouse, and the children who lose one parent to a lover who is responsible for the divorce).
@slexie278 жыл бұрын
when there is a divorce you don't actually lose your father or mother, if both parents do it right. Or at least you don't have to lose, but if both parts play difficult to make arrangements, they will hurt the kids. Even if a husband or wife cheats on her/his partner, this person still has to find a solution for the kids not suffer more than they already have to. If someone leaves the wife or husband they are not always leaving their children... And the movie does not support that, they are telling a story...and the main one is not even foccused on that. Is about loss.

Bit it’s a whole lot of work for everyone else. Grades typically drop in school. Yeah I didn’t like it that some of the characters supported the affair, but I think it was showing the toll it takes on the child and the cheated spouse & even the toll on the homewrecker herself. I don’t know about the adulterer. I hate all that and pity the child lost of course and even her. So I’m not sure if it’s promoting wrecking a home or your own home, but asking is the suffering of others worth it or make you a heroine? He still gets to look like the good guy?

Yeah Natalie, Kudrow and Cohen all dominated in their roles! They all portrayed emotional turmoil so well, the feelings of grief, loss and betrayal. I found myself relating to Amelia because I have a very complicated relationship with my biological father, but I've never involved myself with a married man. Then there was William, studies show than children with separated/divorced parents usually have trouble being more social. Then there was the ex-wife who I sympathized with until she suggested that it was Amelia's fault that her daughter died of SIDS.

What annoyed me about this movie was that Natalie’s Portman’s character was mad at her father who had cheated on her mother years ago. Yet she’s doing the same thing she’s mad at her dad for? 😐😐I don’t know make this make sense someone🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
@davidslocum95362 жыл бұрын
Well Ana, this actually happens often. Sometimes children who are molested grow up to be pedophiles (very unfortunate). No child wants to be or deserves to be hurt in that way. Kids raised in a environment inundated with drugs, albeit they hate it at the time, go on to use drugs/alcohol. When we were kids, my sister use to flush my mother's cigarettes down the toilet. Guess what? Now my sister smokes like a chimney and my mother doesn't. Humans are complex.

I believe people who cheat on their spouses, boyfriend's, girlfriend is not happy or satisfied with their relationship. if they were cheating would never even cross there mind or it shouldn't. it's not fair to play with people's hearts and emotions like that. if your truly not happy in a relationship just leave. it's better than running around with other people

I haven't watched the movie, but from what I'm seeing here the character Natalie Portman portrays is a young beautiful woman, who is indeed looks very selfish and self-centered. She does things because it feels good: sleeps with the husband because it feels good, she likes him and doesn't care about hurting the wife and agrees to marry him and agrees to "live" with the child since it's part of the packeage. It's all about her and what feels good, not minding her side effects or hurting people. One day she becomes a mother and feels completely different,she feels deep love and her baby girl is the one thing she will put first and will protect. That baby girl dies and in a way this woman is forced to feel deep pain and sorrow for the first time in her life. Whith these new feelings she starts to feel a little more empathetic towards everyone else: the child, her husband, the ex-wife and everybody else around her. So in perspective, only from what I've watched and of course I can be completely wrong, I sense she was selfish, then she experiences a deep loss and because of that she gains empathy and humanity, as a result she becomes a better person at the highest of the costs. Not bad, this actually happens in life to a lot of people, this is one case but also can happen to a person in a job, a family, etc.

Those twisted bastards expect us to just forget about the common mistakes she made in her personal life simply bc she suffered the loss of a child. It is just entertainment, and in this case, it's not Star Trek, so it's mirroring real life instead of science fiction or fantasy. Whether it's someone cheating on a spouse, a tax return, or an exam, it's wrong, but it doesn't mean the cheater is evil. It's bad judgement or behavior. Not interested in watching a family be destroyed and then cheer them on for keeping it going afterwards

I know a lot off people are talking down on this movie bc they think it sympathizes with a homewrecker but I LOVE THIS MOVIE. its so real to me. Yes emilia is a homewrecker but she wasnt a bad person. Sometimes things happen and people learn and accept and grow from them which is what i think this movie is trying to show. So many people refuse to feel sorry for emilia but she was just a person who grew up viewing a fucked up marriage like her parents so cheating was something she was familiar with. And because of marrying a man she loved she received all this hate as well as losing an innocent baby. I honestly loved her character. Its such a humbling, different view on hardship. Everyone is a person and one day we are all going to die. The best thing is to be kind and loving and always keep going. Sorry but I had to defend emilia! And its just my take and opinion on this movie :)

fyi: homewrecker=bad person. A family is sacred, specially if there is children. Its easy really, just stay away from married people. A homewrecker destroyed my family when i was a child. So no, no sympathy for that kind of people. Sounds like you are trying to find an excuse...

Pragma Life um im not excusing what she did? Lol and it takes 2 to tango honey. You can't blame just the homewrecker. And no it doesnt make her a bad person it means she did a bad thing. Homewreckers CAN be bad ppl but the movie showed her as just a normal person who made bad choices. I am just saying that the movie teaches you about forgiveness and acceptance. I am really sorry that happened to you but bad things happen to everyone. Its a part of life.

Lenny Cruz I actually felt sorry for "the other women aswell. As for the dad sometimes people fall out of love with people. He shouldn't have to stay in his marriage if he became unhappy.
