I don’t think I’ll ever actually finish this game. I’ve started like 5 playthroughs and it always manages to lose my interest a few hours in, which is a shame bc I really want to like it

I got bored of this one way too fast because it was very obvious that there were no deep rpg mechanics. I don't need a full CRPG with 5000 class combinations like Pathfinder WOTR but this game had like 8 different skills, many of which were extremely broad, I immediately got bored

When he compares the faces at 10:44 I think the biggest difference are the eyes. The eyes look dead and lifeless on the original version compared to the new version.

It may just be me, but I think this looks like an improvement visually. I originally played on Xbox though and it probably had reduced graphics compared to pc. Reed Tobson specifically looked higher res than I remember.

It should be noted that this DLC is developed by Private Division rather than Obsidian's own team. Makes sense that it was a toss up whether or not the DLC was going to be smooth.

It was developed by Virtuos, Private Division is the publisher and they probably decided to do this to squeeze more money out of the outer words franchise before they lose publishing rights since Microsoft owns Obsidian.

Obsidian have nothing to do with this upgrade (now under Microsoft and busy working on multiple projects, including Outer Worlds 2). This "upgrade" is merely a Private Division's (paired with Virtuos Games) cash grab.

@@Arcanua Wrong. The game was already in development when Obsidian started the acquisition process by Microsoft. Private Division even made a deal for timed exclusivity with Epic Games. MS had no saying in this deal, as the publisher (PD) had the legal right to do so.

Most of the guys from Obsidian, from the past several years, are still there. Infact, the creative heads behind the first Outer Worlds... are currently working on Outer Worlds 2 right now. But as you heard, Obsidian didn't actually make this botched Spacers Choice edition. Basically, the publisher who owns the rights (Private Division) contracted out to another studio to make this re-release and completely effed up the whole thing. (Private Division is owned by Take Two, if that gives you any other indication of how that publisher likes to rerelease crappy ports)

Maybe the new "ultra" is targetting higher visual settings, just under the same name. Personally I don't care about the max settings unless I just can (older games ect) I dial it in to whether or not I can actually see a difference, frame rate is always the priority.

if the main upgrade is some nice textures and screen space global illumination, aka ray tracing whats in the scene, makes sense it's a performance hit honestly. doesn't explain the other bugs

Can't believe Public Division (the publisher) dropped the ball on this one, I cannot in good faith purchase a title that they are attached to in the future. The amount of times I've loaded into environments and it's black and white checkered because the textures don't load is three times. It's insane. This is one of the worst optimizations that have come out on console. It's sad as fuck because I loved this game. Hopefully they fix it soon, but they've shown they are more into a quick buck than an actual good game.

@@Jamie_241 They spent their time world building and engine building, not game building unfortunately. The combat spawning is straight out of 2000s MMOs, and in several instances it pretty much copies Obsidians own ideas from NV (Retirement), but doesn't follow through. I think I've heard it was the product of a smaller team, but to me it's just further evidence that Obsidian does much better playing with someone else's toys than making their own (Fallout, Star Wars, South Park). Maybe a sequel will be better, but I was pretty disappointed with this game when I played the standard edition.

My one problem with this game was the fact every area was a limited sized box. You load into an area knowing how big it is hence where the edge of every area is which kills any sense of exploration.

Played through this game a single time. I was a bumbling moron and the only memorable part was the ending: the one where you fly the ship into the sun. I did that then uninstalled and haven't played since.

The only thing i wanted was for them to cap the tinkering cost for normal/legendary gear like the science weapons. I remebered that i could only get the gear from dlc2 to max level 36 (41 ) without wasting all my money. I don't want to know how stupid this will get with the cap to 99 ( 104 ).

I get the meme, to me it looks like a small graphical improvement. People who previously ran at Ultra, I don't think Ultra now is the same as before because it is more hardware taxing, this is fine as it'll give the game more longevity as it ages, there's this idea sometimes people have that "I have a (insert expensive GPU), therefore I should be able to run at ultra". You should be able to run at high graphics, but if a game decides to make Ultra exceed the capabilities of the strongest GPUs in the market right now, that's fine it helps with longevity. Honestly having to run a game at High vs Ultra, the difference is usually menial, I dropped my settings and my framerate was solid in the game. I didn't do an in depth benchmark, but at high it seemed the same as before and looked about the same to where it was before. It's possible frametime or a new DRM has something to do with it, I didn't do a detailed side by side. I went in expecting serious performance issues, but it wasn't that bad, if you have yet to try it I wouldn't let this dissuade you from playing it. If someone did have serious performance issues feel free to reply, I'm just sharing my experience.

Creative Assembly gave that same exact excuse about why _their_ implementation of the Ultra setting ran so poorly in Attila Total War when it released in 2015. They said that it was meant for future hardware that did not yet exist on the market. Well, here we are eight years later and that game *still* runs like garbage on modern systems. Not only that, but every Total War title that has been released since 2015 both looks _and_ runs better than Attila when set on their highest settings. Time proved Creative Assembly to be liars. The developers of this game risk the same if they actually end up using the "futureproofing" excuse to cover their shoddy optimization work, because I guarantee that there will be games coming out soon that look and run better than what we see here.

I got lucky 5800x 6800xt 0 issues so far the opening seen on the capsul was super bad just like I have seen but it runs very well on max does get down to 45 fps at times but it's still smooth.

Looks like they slapped a red/ brown filter on it and also made the default brightness lower and called it a “remaster” 😂

I've started this game twice and beat the starting area and then both times things came up like moving to a different country and I've never got around to beating it so I think when the devs get this edition fixed up a bit I'll finally try and beat it.

I've never played this game before I have a 3060 laptop and was gonna pick up the spacer choice update but then I saw that the original game runs at 90+fps on ultra 1080p and spacer choice gives you half of that without hitting max settings, the colors look good in SCE, and uncap level is nice but I think I'm gonna play the original

Playing on Ultra settings is not worth it to begin with. It's minimal visual gains with big performance loss. Very High/High is the best.

i could make base outer worlds look like that with reshade, we definitely did NOT need this dlc 4 years later

I played for less than an hour, (after playing and beating the full gamepass version + DLC & Switch version + DLC) and stopped and applied for a refund. It looked and played awful.
