Classic Ghost Stories Podcast - Tony Walker

3 жыл бұрын

A wonderful tale from Brittany set on Christmas Eve with owls and ghosts and snow and deep, deep forests. An owl leads a man to discover and old book. His greed prompts him to take it, and you can guess what happens next.
Translated from the French by Faith Lancereau.
I filmed this and there were some technical issues, but I hope they were all adequately resolved.

Please, Please - do NOT stop the commentary. I listen to audio books if I don't want to hear commentary..I listen to your podcasts because you are interesting and so informative and I value your observations and reflections. So relaxing and human. As I said, there is endless content available to those who just want to be read to. Please don't diminish what you do in order to appease those who can just as easily pay a small monthly fee for just a lovely voice reading a story. I am certain the majority of us listening to you listen for the whole experience which includes your thoughts and your knowledge. Thank you for your wonderful efforts. I (and many others) get so much from what you do. Keep doing it just as you are inspired to do!

Personally, I really enjoy the talking. You often give interesting back stories and personal context. It makes the stories that much richer. I hope you don’t drop that aspect of your show. Being a seminarian that loves tales of the supernatural, this story spoke to me. It is a pretty big deal to refuse confession especially for the RC church. In that tradition, by denying someone the sacrament of confession it would also be to deny them absolution. That’s not my tradition, but we still can’t turn a person in need out to the cold.

I love that you talk to us like we're all good friends!! Please don't stop talking to us! Of course, it is the best plan to put the chat at the end of the story, because that is the best time to comment on the story while we are still digesting it. And also because if anyone does not want to hear commentary for any reason, they can easily skip it. But I have yet to hear any reading from you that was not perfectly done, enchanting and still so human. Thank you for so many wonderful stories!

This is one of my favorite stories. I also loved the live reading. IF you hadn't told us there were a couple little glitches, I don't think most of us would have even noticed. Be easy with yourself Tony. Really, you are keeping so many of us entertained and more importantly educated. I mentioned in The Sand Walker how I felt about people not wanting to hear you talk. I have yet to enjoy a channel as much as this one. I guess I should have said it here, you have created a great community of listeners and people who love and looking forward not only to hear the great stories you choose BUT to also hear the valuable information given about the stories and authors. I have been feeling crummy due to a broken leg and fractured ankle. (Who knew a few broken bones could be THIS exhausting.) Anyway, I mention this because I fell asleep four times listening to this story. Your voice is like Valium! So glad I listened again all the way through without nodding off. I felt as if I could feel the owl in my hand. I have always loved owls. I have looked right into the eyes (up close) of a great horned owl. I swear it felt as if he and I were communicating. We have what is called the Chewonki Foundation here in Maine and one of the many things they do is rehabilitate birds of prey. That is how I found myself staring into the eyes of that magnificent bird. It was incredible. Anyway Tony, you are NOT the only one who loves to communicate with others. Sorry I went on so long. Just know I believe there are far more of us that WANT and LOVE to hear you talk about any and everything. You are such a dear person and put so much care into each and every video. I would love to know where to purchase Merchandise. Could you set up a link or tell us how to purchase one of those great hoodies? Thanks for ALL you give to this community and PLEASE continue to be yourself. ( Sometimes, we tend to be more critical of ourselves than others. Stay YOU and Stay well ...everyone.

Don't pay any attention to them Tony! You are wonderful! I love listening to your stories while I work cataloging books by many of the authors you read.

The first time I heard you talking about a story I was so pleased and thought it was a wonderful addition. I think your voice is perfect for telling these stories too. ♥️🥰

Listened while knitting some owl themed mitts!I like the random talk about the stories etc.You can't please them all.Theres a story called The Shepherd done by Alan Maitland which is a CBC radio Christmas Eve tradition here in Canada.I bet you'd do it justice if you haven't blown a vocal cord by then hehe.Only on Christmas Eve that's the rules.hehe

Yes, it is like having a friend Tony, i also vote you go on as you had been doing. Relax, put up your feet and let your hair down, so to speak. No need to stand on formalities here! 🤓
