This dog was really good at grooming treatment, like he is every few days at grooming salon. But, unfortunately he was probably for the very first time on the shaving, and under that mated hair was a ton of ticks!
His owner was lying to us and told us that he found him on the street, but his daughter wasn't saying that... Later was too late, but probably, that if we knew, we would act differently.
What do you think about all this situation? What should we done?
Now he is ok, and clean, but we don't know how long that will last...

If they scammed you they’ll move onto another groomer with the same sob story in the future. Please communicate with all the other pet groomers in your area so the owners can be called on it before their neglect is covered up by another person’s work. Hopefully something can be done to help this poor dog

It's so kind that even after you found out these people were scamming you, you continued to put the needs of the animal first and continued to groom him as well as you could, knowing this might be the only time in his life that he is properly taken care of.

@@Tazerboy_10 there are 2 types of "owners" the ones that see the pets as family and just call themselves owners because the dog belongs to them, and then the one that are owners because they _own_ the dog and it is their property to (in their mind) do what they want with.

It was so kind of you to continue to do your job and not take this animal to a vet for medical intervention. And if the owners were short on cash and this was a "free groom" them why not offer to pay to have it tested for Lyme disease? That test is probably cheaper than what they charge for grooming a Doodle. I checked, they're hypocrites 😑

Me too. I brought her in 2 weeks ago and it had been exactly 3 months. I felt so extremely guilty .. meanwhile there was no matting .. just looked wrong and I felt awful!

They don’t know what they are doing. The dog needs to go to another home before it ends up in the same condition again. If they loved this dog so much they would find it a better home and not get another pet again.

I can't believe how many different ticks managed to get through all that matted fur...who knows how many generations of ticks lived on the poor thing. 😱. I'm glad you got to give this little man the royal treatment he deserves and he definitely showed how much he appreciated it by being calm.❤️

My dog got like hundreds or maybe even thousands of these ticks because we live in a tropical place and there is sand everywhere. She was the only one who got infected with a lot of ticks. It took me hours to comb all the tick away with the fine tooth lice comb. Out then all in boiling water gave my dog a kerosene sponge bath(because I can't afford to buy 10dollar tick shampoos for dogs) and lots of shampoo and conditioner after that

They’re lucky that they’re not in Australia. Any one of those ticks could have been a paralysis tick, and that dog wouldn’t be breathing.

Omg the way he just lets you put the stuff in his ears is just magical. Not sure if the poor thing is just exhausted or incredibly docile. I can’t get my dog to settle when I clean his ears, he’ll run a mile as soon as he thinks it’s ear drops time

Girl with the dogs uses a makeup pad and puts the ear cleaner on that so that it doesn't go down in the ear canal and make them uncomfortable. Worth a try

You can tell the pupper knows that you're trying to help him because he's not acting out or anything, despite this likely be his first time ever getting groomed which can be scary for dogs at first.

You can tell by the cloudiness of his eyes that he's older and probably doesn't have a lot of life left in him. But I feel confident that the rest of his days he will be happy and taken care of. Thank u On behalf of all of us dog lovers.:-)

I really hope his awful owners took him to the vet after this. His stomach looks bloated from parasites. It's such a shame an organization can't take this dog from those people, such a sweet thing, he deserves better. At least you were able to make him feel much better ❤

The video made it clear that in that place there are no authorities to call. Without animal rescue infrastructure and a legal system to back it up, the dog groomer has very limited options.

There’s probably enough of a legal system for withholding the dog from a registered owner to count as stealing, but just not enough laws in place to protect animals from poor owners. It’s basically ‘I own it, I can do what I want with it’ and there aren’t any animal rights laws to say otherwise.

I hope he was not returned to the owner.. I would complain to the authorities.. what a good and calm dog , you could tell how much he was enjoying the bath , as an animal lover If I was there I would take him into my arms and give him the world to enjoy he looks like he needs a lot of T.L.C .. It's likely because they're removing the pain from him. Matted fur is already extremely painful for a dog, what more for endless tics, worms and insects crawling around and making your skin itchy? And once you did scratch, the matted fur pulls and damages your skin? So he's standing still simply because it's relieving.

My mom had a coworker who once asked her to take care of his shih tzu for him while he went on vacation. She agreed and was horrified when the little dog arrived. The poor thing had long matted fur and obviously hadn't been well taken care of...she took him to the groomers who said they hadn't yet seen a dog that bad. She didn't like that coworker after that.

not really true, you can get ticks in any wooded area regardless of how well its taken care of. Source my dad owned a landscaping company so our backyard was impeccable but it also ended in wooded area so they were still around.

Ticks are wild animals - how much a dog can get, depends on the area where you live on this planet and how exposed the dog is to the outside. Is is basicly the same as if you would shame someone because for the amount of squirrels or spiders that live around their city. You can get preventiv treatment though and overall this dog is pritty neglected.

From WC, you guys do great work, I wish more people (and owners) felt like you people! If they did all dogs & cats would have a good clean, healthy satisfying life! We spend hundreds of dollars sending our dogs to the vet for shots and general health issues! Ours pets are worth it as they really are our best and loyal friends, and really part of the family!

I had a similar experience and basically volunteered by charging the owner of 11 dogs $20ea. These maltipoos were in such a bad way that almost all of them had shells of matted hair taken off and most if not all could hardly see or poop due to the increased mats covering their orifice and also temporary blindness until I Cleaned those areas!!! It took me 2mos, an aching back, very sore hands and feet, but through it all I managed to gettur done!! Sooo instead of getting $$ I traded for my 10mo baby girl, Abigail, who they NEVER NAMED, OR PAID ANY ATTENTION TO, WHICH LED TO HER BEING INTROVERTED WHEN I GOT HER!! But now she is doing wonderful and I am so blessed to have her!! As for the others I was told they were given to friends and family in Mexico and LA. What an absolute angel of a client 😇🐾 his wee face appeared from underneath all that nasty, he put me in mind of my first love, who was our family dog for 20years and 9mnths 🐾♥️ that broke my heart, she needed a clip every spring, her curly coat would have probably gone the same way had she been neglected in this way😭 all I remember was the different shades that would shine from her blackness in the sun😍 The state he was in when he was brought to you would be enough in my country for the S.S.P.C.A (Scottish society for the prevention of cruelty to animals) to step in and save this beautiful soul from the nightmare owners he has now🙏 Thank you for showing him the love and compassion he deserves, even if only for a little while 😔 he will remember your kindness 🐾♥️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Where I live in Australia you can report them to the RSPCA and as long you have evidence, like this video, they will remove them from the owners. We had to get video of our neighbour’s puppy as the kids kept swinging it by it’s leg. When the RSPCA came the leg had been broken, maybe for days. We didn’t know anything about the dog being seized until my son told us he had taken video and contacted the RSPCA. Couldn’t have been prouder, he was 12. ❤ PS you guys are amazing for doing this, he just seemed so grateful throughout the whole process.

Outrageous! As a pet parent there's no way!!!! Absolutely no way! I wouldn't have let that dog out of my sight until I called the authorities. The poor thing was probably starving too! Shame on the so-called owners! They're just holding that dog captive.

Thank you for your coment. Of course. That's what we do. People in our area know that we groom dogs for free who need it and whose owners cannot afford it. We have been doing this for years. 😃

Such a sweet boy and even sweeter groomers, you did a wonderful job! I would have had a tough time turning him over to the owners. I don’t care if you are dead-ass broke there is no excuse to not at least keep him clean and brushed. Another case of humans not being fit to own pets.

La négligence animale existe dans tous les pays, ici en Europe comme aux États Unis et partout ailleurs , les chaînes et vidéos en témoignent, ça ne manque pas si vous vous donnez la peine de chercher. De la même façon que dans ces pays existent aussi des âmes charitables qui s’occupent et aident les animaux abandonnés et négligés, avec des moyens plus ou moins importants ,d’après les aides publiques ou privées attribuées et leur niveau de vie. Les lois concernant la protection et le bien-être animale sont brisées partout malheureusement , aucun pays n’a l’exclusivité.

I really have tears in my eyes watching this...while hugging my 6 yrs old maltese watching. How can ppl mistreat their dog like this, my dog is like my baby, we sleep on the same bed, we shower together (he does it weekly). I cook healthy food for him. We go out together every single time. Dogs r ur best friend in ur life, dont mistreat them

That was a nice looking dog underneath all of that matting and years of neglect. Hopefully the new adopted family will take much better care of this little pooch for the rest of its life.

I’m glad this dog got help a lot of dogs like him are in the same situation with out getting help and that makes my heart hurt so I’m really glad he got help
