That was in fact the intention. The Tallgeese III was designed to be the "Perfect" Mobile Suit for Zechs from a narrative perspective. A brand new official Mark I Tallgeese Model Frame, with the most state of the art Tallgeese Base kit, the Epyon's Whip like Heat Rod, and the Mega Cannon is one of three most powerful weapons in GW matched only by Epyon's Sword and Zero's Twin-Buster. The Tallgeese III was a love letter to us Zechs fans.

Fun fact: Sunrise's animation quality on this level gained a nickname from its' fans called "Sunrise Smooth".

OVA tend to have a fluid and smoother animation than tv serials due to the timeframe of each releases and the budget it has. Example, one episode per month. 12 episodes in total in a year. One month is enough to make a movie quality animation for a 30 minutes of runtime. Also the budget is from DVD sales.

If you’ve ever gone back and watched old gundam wing you can actually see a lot of where they budget animation and episodes. Even back then stuff was hit and miss.

I love the TG. but Mk. II is my favourite lol. Mk. I + III are godly enough though.

The Mk III is basically a heavily up-armored Mk II, which was in turn a Mk I with some extra armor slapped on. If development had continued the Mk VI onwards would have been more or less spherical :P.

Not the Tallgeese II, just the original Tallgeese. It was part of the upgrades to make the original Tallgeese space-capable and also came with a heat lance. The wings were placed onto the damaged Wing Zero when Zechs went to pilot it, with him saying the Tallgeese lived on as part of it. The manga really did a great job retelling the anime and adapting the mechanical designs of Hajime Katoki into that setting.

​@@user-qn1zj5bs5pI believe the tallgeese 1 was damaged beyond repair and just left in space. Now in the Manga they use the wings from the fluegel and transplant them to the wing zero. They also could've used the tallgeese 1 for parts as well to make repairs

@@miafillene4396 Technically yes, Leo is the most direct derivative of the Tallgeese design, but it was essentially the basis for all of the mobile suit technology created after it.

Actually no they’re not the same outside of the basic design. The Leos have a smaller and weaker frame which also lack the Gundanium armour. The Tallgeese also came first, they made these changes because it was too expensive to mass produce and too dangerous for most people to pilot.

different goal, if i'm not mistaken, the goal is to make enemies surrender without killing them as much as possible. he even complain 'its hard to defeat enemies without killing them', same with the rest of Gundams.

@@Nematoda4ever he, Noin, and the Gundams spared the ones on earth to be a demonstation for the people on how the revolution is not the way that should be done. If they choose to kill the earth pilots then they be viewed as terrorist too like the Gundams in the past, thus not achieving their goals to win the peoples heart. Plus this should speak volumes on how it's really hard not to kill even if you are a skilled pilot, cuzz they had to hit specific parts to not hurt the pilots inside.

For me it goes one of two ways. Either A) It was Noin's call off screen. Or B) They used their telepathic love powers and wordlessly agreed it was simply the best political move. Either way its definitely A Political Move. Don't forget Zechs and Noin are both VERY skilled politicians. Edit: Is it actually Irony that in the finaly of GW Zechs nearly destroyed the Earth to bring about peace, then turns around and fights for peace without killing anyone in the Finaly of EW? Anyone actually know?

I'm pretty sure Treize is honestly the most skilled, best overall pilot in the series. He could've bodied Wufei in Alton, he literally gave up and died.

I'd say it's a hard shakeup, but it does point out Heero and Zechs being top pilots. Treize is questionable, as it doesn't show enough of his skill, Leo and Tallgeese. Also, Quatre later mastered the Zero System, beating Dorothy using it. Pretty sure Treize knew he would die against Zechs. Honestly, Treize's death was foreshadowed with the Epyon, episode 34, he told Heero, he had no future to choose from. He also mentioned about parting with their lives if Heero ends up the same as him. He also tells Heero about not being a winner, Gundam Epyon is not a weapon, and that he hopes Heero returns as a loser. This also later sets up that Zechs cannot win against Heero, and sure enough, he loses in the final fight. Oddly enough, Zechs returns in EW, having been a loser. Also, at the end of 34, he tries to give Heero his pistol, to which Heero tells him he doesn't have that right. Treize is not allowed to die until a certain someone appears. Though it could be thought that Treize wanted to die by Zechs, a "beautiful" death from his friend. Though it is actually Wufei that beats him and it actually pairs up nicely. Remember, Treize respected Wufei for leaving his Gundam and fighting man to man, it was honorable. Plus, all that dialogue later set up the fight at the end of the show where they actually do fight again. There is so much that goes on in the show, you wouldn't really pick up on it. Re-watching it every so often and you might find something new. Also, Heero figured out about Zechs a long time ago, which Noin makes a nod to it by her comment in the last episode that Heero should have "figured that out by now." Zechs was trying hard to win against Heero and die. Meanwhile, Heero is trying his hardest to save Zechs, while holding back to not kill him. On a further note, there's a little dialogue at the Antarctica fight that Trowa tells the mechanic that Heero doesn't want anyone touching his mobile suit (repaired Wing Gundam). Notice, Heero had to calibrate Heavyarms for himself, there's also other places where they calibrate their machines. Another thing of mention is that there was some mobile suit and gundam swapping in the show. That in itself is a lovely feature of the show. Gundam Wing Zero got passed around, all gundam pilots, Zechs, and that crazy tech had it sometime. Also, notice that even when Duo got his upgraded Deathscythe, that crazy tech guy inside the Wing Zero completely overpowered Duo's upgraded Deathscythe, nearly crushing his head. The strange thing is Duo's shield blade, ironically called the Buster Shield cancels out the Wing Zero Buster Rifle shot. Here, I think the pilots are best in their own machines, to which Heero eventually accepts the Wing Zero, helping elevate him more.

After giving it some more thought, I think Treize was at one point the best pilot in the series, but both Zechs and Heero eventually surpassed him. Seeing it this way, I now realize that Treize and his ideals had become obsolete by the end of the series, along with OZ, and the inferior mobile suits they were using during the Eve Wars. It was as if Treize himself had literally become this allegory that was synonymous with the end of an era, and he was determined to die along with it, fighting with honour and chivalry, as Mobile Dolls, the Z.E.R.O. System, and the Gundams, fought to decide the future of humanity.

I think this also helps me understand Treize's fight with Wufei a little bit better too. Zechs wasn't going to give Treize the honourable and chivalrous fight he was hoping for (as Zechs had disavowed their friendship earlier in the series, and therefore, felt he wasn't obligated to fulfill Treize's request). Instead, it was Wufei who gave Treize what he wanted when they fought eachother during the Eve Wars, and its the reason why Treize calls Wufei his "friend" just before he dies; Wufei had fulfilled Treize's final request instead of Zechs.
