@madeleinefoissac7417
@madeleinefoissac7417 10 ай бұрын
@topologyrob
@topologyrob 10 ай бұрын

@susangavaghan
@susangavaghan 10 ай бұрын
This film is full of examples of animals and those who care for them being the focus of ridicule. In his movie Macbeth, Polanski included a disturbing scene involving a bear in a cage and then the same bear dragged away after being used for bear baiting. The fact that he dislikes animals and enjoys tormenting them is proved in the book Chaos where an actress claimed he deliberately tormented her dog by throwing a brick in a swimming pool so the dog would try to retrieve it. The end scene of this movie shows a dog and this penguin having sex - this is a reflection of Polanski's mind. It is disappointing that John Cleese has a role in this sick movie, which has had appalling reviews. In 2020 there were protests at the Cesar awards when he won best director, and a young actress walked out in protest, due to Polanski having drugged and raped a 13 year old girl in 1977. Since that time there have been other allegations against him. With the Me Too Movement his past has caught up with him and his behaviour can no longer be excused because he is an acclaimed movie director. I have seen only 3 of his movies, Tess (which I enjoyed), Macbeth and Bitter Moon. His movies have a negative and destructive energy. I believe this vile movie is an expression of Polanski's anger at the movie industry which has turned it's back on him. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kOCgdrhh1pepnH0.html

@@chamindujanith6337 Do they have the common theme of invasion. as his other movies do? Do they show the characters becoming empowered and overcoming adversity? Do they show women being empowered and overcoming adversity? Tess is raped, suffers the rejection of her husband because of it, kills the man who raped her and then gets hanged at the end. In Bitter Moon the young, innocent girl becomes degenerate, bitter and twisted and gets shot at the end. Macbeth has a dark energy, involves a scene of animal abuse and both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth die a the end. I would be extremely surprised to find any positive message in Polanski's movies. This does reflect his character as there are reports of him having been abusive to Sharon Tate and throwing a brick in a swimming pool so a dog belonging to a actress would try to retrieve it. I is ironic that Polanski is now on the receiving end of invasion through the Me Too Movement.

@@susangavaghan "I would be extremely surprised to find any positive message in Polanski's movies" LOL. I would read a book if I want to know about a positive message. Not the purpose of watching a film. Polanski is a genius and many of his films were awarded at the Oscars, Cesars etc. And both Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby are iconic for a reason. Polanski is in the mild category when it comes to his behaviour towards woman in his films. Other directors have done far worse. Scorsese, von Trier, Verhoeven, Kubrick, Pasolini etc. Polanski is controversial because of one incident not because of him including controversial content. I don't see Polanski being cancelled or whatever. The man is 90 years old. Maybe some of his latter films would have gotten better Oscar attention if not for his reputation. His output is very frequent still. Scorsese has released 6 films since 2010. Polanski the same amount. Mostly in the same year. The Palace is a light affair after the serious drama that was An Officer and a Spy.

@@chamindujanith6337 He drugged and raped a 13 year old child and escaped punishment for this. There have since been other allegations against him and a book about Sharon Tate entitled Sharon Tate A Life in which it is claimed that he was abusive and controlling towards her, forced her to have threesomes and filmed her during sex. A couple of weeks after her murder he was out partying with Warren Beatty. In 1983 he was interviewed by Clive James and was completely unrepentant about his actions claiming that the girl had had sexual experiences with other men. In fact she had had sex on one previous occasion with her 17 year old boyfriend, who was her equal, not a 43 year old movie director. This is what Polanski claimed in his book and Samantha Geimer sued him. He settled out of court with a six figure amount. The fact that Samantha wasn't a virgin and even if she had had a number of other sexual experiences did not exonerate Polanski from blame. A 13 year old girl does not have the mental capacity to consent to sex. Polanski said that he was 'just 12' when he was told his mother had died in the concentration camp - Samantha Geimer was 'just 13 when he drugged and raped her. When arrested in 2009 Polanski said in interview that his children came to visit him and he was concerned about them not having a father. His daughter would have been 16 - 3 years older than Samantha was when he drugged and raped her. What if someone had done that to his daughter aged 13? Would he have said 'oh, this man is a genius so we will overlook that?' Somehow I doubt it. The women he regarded as powerless and unimportant are finally fighting back and he has been banned from getting a Cesar award under the new rules and his almost 50 membership to the Film Academy Of Motion Arts has been revoked. His age doesn't matter and cannot be used to excuse him - after all, he didn't care about Samantha's age.

@@susangavaghan Roman Polanski can get Cesar Awards but not appear on the ceremony or get messages of congratulations if he win But that solidarity towards victims includes presumed victims, which in this year many are liars or have rancor and the morons that believe them look ridiculous for kicking the presumed culprits, Justin Roiland and Till Lindemann are proven innocent but no apologies from the companies that congratulated the "brave women for speaking" Also, Ladj Ly should be included for his past crime of assisting a kidnapping, kidnapping is a serious crime in many countries 11-12 year old girls run more risks with french directors of appearing almost naked on a film (Cuties), doesn't excuse the plot and the fact that the director is a black woman, if that's diversity no thanks, I stick with french movies with only white celebrities, Aissa Maiga can film in another country or quit like Adele Haenel, which many are glad cause she looks like she hit the bottle now, Roman Polanski continues directing, hahaha! Now Morgane Polanski better not be harrased or worse for the mere fact that she's the daughter of Roman Polanski, the society wouldn't be better than the criminal groups

I gave this movie a fair chance and went in with an open mind but goddamn was that a waste of time. The humor lands flat, none of it makes any sense, the acting is questionable. Just a weird ducking movie, and not in a good way

a shame considering the struggles to make it thanks to the feminists like Adele Haenel But wasteful are the Disney movies that spent over 200 million dollars that care more about diversity and inclusion than being good I'll watch this over Peter Pan & Wendy or The Little Mermaid

A whooping 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Possibly the worst reviewed film in Venice Film Festival history. Pretty satisfying to see that Polanski's final film is a steaming pile of garbage just like the man himself.
