saw this with my cousin and sister 1949. We laughed all through it. Never forgot the scene when he ends up on top of the tree. Hilarious!!!

My daddy was sick and in the hospital. I was staying with him and we watched this movie on tv. We laughed so hard and so loud the nurses had to come tell us to quiet down.

I remember seeing Bob Hope when I was a kid at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, Ca.He was the Honored Grand Marshall.

I first saw this film in the early 60's on British television. I was around 10 years old and I thought this was a very funny film. I'm now in my 70's and it is still a hilarious film. It was the first time I had ever seen the gag where he starts is horses to pull the wagon and, of course, they weren't hitched on and he gets dragged away behind them. I was so young I had never heard of Bob Hope!

I'm looking at this again, lost my Mum too cancer on the 23rd of December, she was a strong woman, but if this movie doesn't speak about women being imbowerd way back then, when we seem to have an issue with the guys being represented now I don't know what to say, she was beautiful and absolutely fiesty and I wouldn't like to have gotten into a row with her Hope was a hero to even though he was republican xxx ❤❤❤❤️

For Family entertainment it has a 42:49 Surprising amount of Gay humor. I didn't know Bob had it in him. It's all over this movie. 42:49 is borderline gay pedophelia since he thinks he is being offered a boy. (*I was wrong about this) I'm not saying it's not funny. Just surprised he does that while being flambouyantly effeminite throughout. I was too young to notice it when I watched him as a kid with my parents. Edit: Bonus- 45:38 Bob cruises a rhinestone cowboy. Edit to the Edit: I got schooled! 42:49 is totally sweet and pure. He was just asking if he wanted a boy (or girl) baby. My dirty modern mind took it to a dark place. But the "Dandy"? They laugh REALLY weirdly when they come around the corner of the back alley (and for too long). 48:28 after ducking in together at 45:38 Or am I just poisoned by the times we live in? The next scene is LITERALLY a sexy song by a 'Lady of Leisure' called "Meet Ya 'Round the Corner". It's so on the nose. Am I being trolled by Bob Hope? In my house he was famous for making my parents laugh by dressing in drag with Marilyn from back in the Black and White days. (Or maybe our TV was only B&W).

It's a double entendre which Bob Hope relates to having a baby with Jane Russell. Of course the hotel clerk is referring to a porter to carry the bags.

@@esmeralda3858 That's quite clever! Boy has THAT joke changed with age. And he's effeminate because all Yankees are effeminate I guess. But what about 45:38 where he propositions the Dandy into taking off his clothes (very easily) and they excitedly run down a back alley for privacy, practically holding hands? No chance they were mugging for the closeted gays that worked on the film and watched in the theaters?

I saw a movie starring Bob Hope where he was supposed to be a tough cowboy. I man in a bar made him chug down a whole glass of whiskey and every time he tried to talk steam would blow his hat off and he couldn’t talk. He could only whistle. 😅😅😅
