I found Peterson's Bible lectures in early 2018 and it was the first step on my way to Christ. Seeing the incredible intellectual weight of Christianity humbled me to see that Christians weren't just stupid and backwards. That was a big stumbling block for me, and of course I didn't know the first thing about Christianity, and assumed that all of my "brilliant" objections had no answers. Peterson helped me gain a lot of respect for religion and Christianity especially. Later that year I started watching debates with William Lane Craig, and actually listening with an open mind. I would think to myself, for the first time in my entire life, what if atheism is actually wrong; I called myself a free thinker who was governed by reason but I NEVER EVER put atheism under the microscope I put everything else. I'm still astounded how I could have been so blind. Once I started to see that atheism was sorely lacking, I then started to study the Bible and I would feel the tug on my heart. My heart was screaming "YESSS!!", and I gave my heart to Christ and even though I am in my mid 30s and life seems to get more difficult as you age, with more responsibilities, I have finally discovered the hidden reality that Christians always talked about, but pridefully I never thought possible. God has been a constant presence in my life, and I have felt more joy and hope that I had ever known before. i say to all atheists, the Christians were right, there is a reality that we were missing out on. It's all real!! It really is!

Welcome Home. Matthew 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field." A field is not worth much unless one had searched in that field and found treasure. Those who found God are like those who found treasure. Many don't see what you found because they are not searching. let's thank God that you found the greatest treasure. Your creator !

Great testimony, a few words of encouragement; Paul defines the gospel in Romans 1:16,17 as “the power of God unto salvation”, he delineates all of the main features of that salvation in Romans 8:29,30 as predestination, calling, justification and glorification. Your story highlights how God called you to himself which is a wonderful presentation in itself of Christian Theism, God reaches through space and time to deliver, save and direct his creation. God bless ya thanks for sharing your story.

If you believe the Bible and don't assume Jesus is clearly based in Horus, the Egyptian messiah, and the 12 disciples aren't based on the 12 zodiacs or "ages" the sun goes through that "follow the sun/son". If you base your logic and intellectual energy on the NT is true and all there is to do is investigate the Word, yes. If you base your logic and intellect on all religions and trying to determine the "one true religion", you realize Judeo Christianity is modern day Sun God worship except Jesus (MAN) has replaced the Sun; and the Holy Bible is an allegory on stars and human conditions.

The last few sentences Bishop Baron said are the most beautiful. We can philosophy about God as much as we want, but he only becomes real once we experience how lost we are and how much God loves us, enough to demonstrate his love by dying for and forgiving us. I cannot listen to anything regarding the Lord Jesus Christ without welling up with tears, and it has always been this way for me, even if I am in public. Thank God for this feeling, and for the willingness in me to share this secret with you today. While I don't understand it, it feels good. In the moments of these tears welling up, I feel a great sadness and guilt within me for all the evils I have committed in my life, while at the same time feeling a great appreciation and love for the one who is perfect, who suffered a death I deserve a thousand times over but couldn't bear for five minutes. Somehow this is mixed with a third feeling of hope that our savior lives and that I will or may transcend the broken, evil and shadowy parts of me, though I'm not deserving. Why do I receive this grace I do not deserve? Is it because I decided at the young age of about 7 or 8 that I believe in our God, the creator of the universe, and that I would not be shaken in that belief, and never was? Even as my peers told me when I asked, "What do you think happens when you die?" and they replied "Blackness. Nothing. We are gone forever," I never once, even for a moment, considered that to be a possibility and even felt great sadness that they did not share the same hope I had and have. Does everyone, even the most evil among us who have denied our Lord receive this grace, even for times in their life? Do those that claim they believe, as I do, but continue to commit sins deserve this grace? I say no, but somehow it makes sense that we receive it, though I cannot explain it. Perhaps the unshaken belief or hope plays a part in this! I hope, but I do not know. The overwhelming emotion I feel when those tears come about are a constant reminder that I am small, prideful, a fool, a sinner and a liar, and most importantly, that those broken and foul parts of my psyche are not all I am destined for. These feelings make it quite impossible for me to have any doubt in Jesus Christ, which seems amazing as a write it here, but has been normal, for me, since I made that decision to believe as a child all those years ago. Mr. Peterson, if you read this, thank you. You have served others in such an incredible way, you will certainly be regarded throughout history as one of the great men. It is good to have similar feelings of hope and admiration that I have when reading about great men in history, the likes of George Washington, for example, when I read and watch you today. It is history in the making, sir, and I am honored to witness it in my short turn in this life, and I am honored to be on the short turn in this life with faith in God, my family, with you, and everyone else reading this today, even those whose ideas and actions I detest, who would quickly do away with me and my ideas, whom I'd quickly resist and fight against.

"Why do I receive this grace I do not deserve? Is it because I decided at the young age of about 7 or 8 that I believe in our God...?" No, the grace we receive has nothing to do with who we are (good or bad), but everything to do with who God IS. None of us are deserving, unless you say hellfire in which case ALL of us deserve that, but by His love and grace we are spared. I share your sentiments regarding this overwhelmingly great beauty of who God is and what He did for us and how much He loves us. I find it often brings me to tears, which inevitably turn to praise and worship. If there is one thing I have learned in my walk with the Lord and my readings of His word it is that God concerns himself with the heart of a man far more than he does with the deeds of that man. What makes the difference is not your works, it is your heart and your yearning and love for God, your thankfulness for His grace, and your humility in accepting the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice on your behalf. I am not saying works aren't important, they are, just not for your salvation. Even the most evil men should they have this heart can be saved (and in reality there really is no lesser and greater evil, that is something we think of in the world, but to God it is all the same "he who breaks a part of the law breaks the whole law" James 2:10) My heart was touched by your words I hope my response to them blesses you. It brings me comfort to know that there are brothers here with me at this time in the the great timeline and I am thankful we are together and can read each other's words from such great distances apart. May peace be with you my brother and may you know that your heart is clearly visible in your words and it is a beautiful heart indeed.

The term "Accepting Christ" means accepting HIS payment for OUR Sin. We are trusting in HIS finished work, not establishing a basis for OUR work. He said in Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore Perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect". He said that for one reason; so that WE would Realize our utter incapability to do what HE did. As long as we are trying to live up to that impossible standard, we have not Received HIS perfection as OURS. A Relationship with Him is what TRUE Christianity is about, not trying to "imitate" Him. He makes that very clear in Matthew 7:22,23. "MANY will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, WE prophesied in Your Name, WE cast out devils in Your Name, and I will profess to them, I NEVER KNEW YOU, depart from Me..." They are saying, WE did this and WE did that and used His Name to sanction it, and His reply is, You did NOT have a relationship with Me. You were running around doing your own religious stuff while using My Name. THAT is "Religion". He Rose from the dead, meaning, HE IS ALIVE... NOW! We either KNOW Him... Personally, or we have "religion". Religion is NOT Reality! Knowing HIM... IS!

There's times I envy Professor Peterson only discovering Jesus. There is always constant amazement in any major 'discovery'. What I don't envy is his depth of understanding required in order to truly believe. Alas, some of us are born with Christ, others have to work at it, but when Jesus advocated "seek, and you will find", He did also intimate that to reach Him, you must revert to the trust of a child. There should be no tip-toeing as Christ is not a danger. Blessed are we who have not seen, but yet believe.

Enjoyed the quality of interaction and the listening to one another for deep conversation insight. Sometimes the smarter or intelligent a human becomes, the more self governed they become, and lean towards a belief system based on the findings of the self governed ruling of gathered and experienced information. Our own self can get in the way of allowing faith to lead our lives and some are "afraid" to allow faith to determine an outcome in their life, so they put up walls of defense. Pray for Jordan because we've all had someone praying for us, prior to our receiving the gospel of Christ Jesus.

I think Jordan is right on with some very right instincts about the meaning of Christ's sacrifice. It is certainly an example for us to emulate, that baring our cross, shouldering our burden and stumbling toward the good redeems the world. That's a brilliant insight and very true. But it is more than that, as the Bishop says, the depths of which we will never fully comprehend. It is metaphysically the God of creation, the source of all that is, entering into our humanity, in all His fullness, and bringing us back to himself when we were powerless to do so, restoring us to what we were always meant to be. And that's an ongoing process if we will cooperate with it.

I like how you said that we will never comprehend it fully, because the entire bible shows how god is trying to teach us in a certain way and often he will use earthly things to teach people things out of this world. @@thickac7579 Why did god not just make you capable of comprehending it? Why does God need to resort to such bizarre, indirect, and often horribly painful ways to teach us simple lessons? Why couldn't we be pre-loaded with them, or at least be TOLD them, rather than have to experience something awful to learn them? These are the mental gymnastics you have to resort to when you presuppose the existence of a self-contradictory god, and insist on believing in it despite all evidence to the contrary.

These suffering/love cycles that follow each other in life are necessary, otherwise we would probably be permanently condemned to darkness and spiritual prison. Of course there is still Divine Grace given to those who cry out from their hearts for help. In any case, the pain to summarize is regarded by many ascetics as a blessing because they know from practice that in combination with faith it is the sure way to Eternal Paradise .. and this is not a metaphor!!

5:07 Job went through a calamity for sure because he thought himself already righteous, without the need for God. In this case, yes, it will land a person in very hot water. Job was whining about all the troubles he was having and falling just short of blaming God for it, he was upset that he shouldn't have to suffer so, because he had been a good/righteous man. But God rebuked Him multiple times, instilling in Job the understanding that he really didn’t understand anything and he was not above God or worthy of His mercy (isn't that why it's called mercy? bc we don't deserve it?): “Who is this who obscures My counsel by words without knowledge? Now brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall inform Me. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.…” Sometimes we decide to stand up to God, try to prove our worth and show how much we know…..and God just might reach out and touch your hip socket… And all those friends with which he had pontificated about God were all dead wrong: After the Lord had spoken these words to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. Ob 42.7- But the fourth friend spoke of the situation correctly and was not rebuked, and that was Elihu. He explained to Job that he was not righteous in and of himself and that God was worthy of praise regardless of his current situation. We cannot walk this walk and follow the path of Christ without understanding we are broken, in every way, including intellectually. You can’t hold a torch to Him - your greatness is because of Him. (That’s worth repeating here, your greatness is because of Him, not you. This is where many fall short of attaining the deeper walk with God.) “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” 1 Chronicles 29:14 And if it isn’t, then you suddenly are great because the world deems you great…. …and who cares about that? Men who walk in the glory of God are men who wrestle, gain the understanding and crucify their own glories to take up the cross and follow Christ. You may not be able to do it. So very few can. But He will not share His glory with you. You may walk in it, (indeed you have at times) but He must receive the praise. And if you're wishy-washing around on even saying you believe in Christ, well then, out of His presence and His anointing you go. Jesus always pointed to the Father, the Father pointed to the Son, the Holy Spirit glorifies both and never Himself. This is what makes a king in the Kingdom of God. Try to steal His glory without given Him the honor and praise, and you’ll be finished. “I am the Lord; that is my name; I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.”

Read the first verse of Job. He WAS righteous. “...and that man was blameless and upright and one who feared God and shunned evil.” Whining? All his children were murdered, his wealth taken from him and his friends were trying to tell him he must have brought it on himself and his wife was nagging him to get on with it and curse God and even still Job refused to. God may have told Job that His ways are beyond him but the reader knows exactly why Jobs children were murdered, his wealth and health taken from him: God made a bet with Satan.
@ashleygatewood
@ashleygatewood Жыл бұрын
@@jonnyw82 This is the more common interpretation of the book of Job and it certainly has its place. But there is the deeper understanding of the Word which takes dedication and prayer to search out His wisdom. The Church must understand there is the milk of the word and then there’s the meat of the word. The meat takes more effort and cannot be attained without the Holy Spirit. We can learn from the milk of this interpretation, but it hasn’t served to mature the Body of Christ because the subject matter is often applied too narrowly to one’s own situation (from Job’s perspective) instead of also studying/understanding it from God’s perspective and Job’s progression out of suffering (as his mind was renewed to God and he stopped whining to everyone BUT the One who could truly help him). So then, let's not overlook the faithfulness of God to His servants who refuse to give up trusting in Him: Job 42.10, “The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord gave Job TWICE as much as he had before.”. God never abandons those who put their hope in Him (Isaiah 49.23), who keep wiping the sweat and dirt from their eyes as they fight through the valleys, and who humble themselves to learn from Him. God will lift that one higher than where they first began. We must make sure to acknowledge Him always. It is God who deserves all the praise, all the honor, all the glory. If one can do this, then He will let you shine. (Isaiah 60.1)

Job didn't fall short of blaming God. He outright accused God of punishing him for no justifiable reason(Job 27:2, 30:21, 34:5, 35:2). God clapped back at him the way He did in chapters 38:1-40:2 because Job was presumptuous enough to accuse God of being guilty of injustice by his own standards.

It's like if you want to build up a muscle of forgiveness let's say, there needs to be something for us to forgive. What is better than to suffer in the hands of our enemies and then forgive them. In doing so we learn to be like Christ, a symbol of perfection.

Religion can be a tricky thing to talk about depending on one's experience with how its followers portray themselves and whether or not they bring out the best or worst in you. I developed distrust issues many years ago that I cut out everyone and barely keep in touch with family. I guess a simple way to put it is I feel some people want to pass judgement and only attach themselves for their own amusement, not wanting anyone to become self-reliant. There is a dependency on others to an extent, because in an isolated life there isn't a lot one could know how to do but try their best to avoid the possibility of being taken advantage of. It can become more of a power play than a healthy relationship, which is a truth of human nature.

Well my friend I hear you, regarding how people in a certain religion portray themselves. Is it on alignment with the faith they profess to follow? Do they say one thing yet act another thing totally opposite to the beliefs they espouse. Are they using religion as a form or an institution to control and deceivingly dominate others to serve their agendas? There are many things we can ask, many hypocritical situations most of us can point to, using that as an excuse to justify our unbelief. However this is not a wise avenue to walk down. Just because a person or people misuse, distort and deceive others with that which is true and pure, doesn't make the thing which is true and pure a lie. Not at all. This is a logical conclusion actually. Let's use an example: If I invite you to my house for a braai ( I'm South African, braai is a barbeque) claiming that I buy the best steak from a certain butchery. Top AAA grade beef steak. Best cuts. Clean, juicy, tender and delicious. If I convince you to stop what you are currently doing, enticing you with this incredible steak, and to come to my house for this steak braai. Then when you arrive at my braai of wonderful promise, hyping up expectations within you to the point you begin craving this steak. Your mouth watering as you watch me cook it for, the steak smelling so so so good. Once the steak is cooked and served on a plate we both sit down and begin to eat. However unfortunately it was a terrible let down. The steak was terrible. Utterly disgusting. You created an expectation based upon the testimony of another person. You even witnessed that person cook the steak, it smelled so delicious and tasty. But it tasted nasty 🤢 .........Who was false in this situation, the butcher, the cook or both? This is what you need to ascertain regarding Jesus Christ, the Bible and Church. Because sometimes cooks misrepresent the quality of a butchers steak because they simply do not know how to actually cook steak. Even though they claimed to be the best. Christians will always misrepresent God, the bible interestingly enough warns about such hypocrites who use His Name for the purposes of ungodly sentiments. You it isn't God misleading you, it's people and people are fallible. But God never lies to us, never misleads us, never makes mistakes. He is Eternally trustworthy, even when His own people misrepresent Him. God will Judge all of us according to everything we have spoken and done while alive on earth. ALL OF US WILL GIVE AN ACCOUNT TO GOD FOR THE LIFE WE LIVED, AN ACCOUNT FOR WHAT WE USED THIS LIFE FOR THAT HE CREATED AND GAVE US. We cannot blame the mistakes that Religion has made as a justification for not believing that which is true. Jesus Christ is the only Way to the Father in Heaven. Christ and Christ alone my dear friend. When you die, whenever that may be, you will see that this is the truth. I hope that you don't come to believe only once you're dead, it will be too too late. Eternity is forever remember. Consider the ramifications of being wrong regarding whatever it is that you believe. It's serious my friend. Seek Jesus, really search for Him with a genuine heart. You will see that He is the only truth but He will judge sinners. Anybody who rejects Christ rejects Life. So if you reject Life then God will give you what you want. An eternity in a place without God.

@DonnyBlips In reference to your first point, I agree that Jesus allegedly suffered greatly for a weekend. Many human beings today, however, suffer terrible deaths and so Christ’s alleged experience is not unique. With respect to your second point, Christ did not “fully give himself to God” given he is still allegedly divine and is able to return to earth. If you believe the Eucharist embodies the literal body and blood of Christ again, I ask what exactly was sacrificed? To sacrifice something is to give up something important or of value for the sake of other considerations.

It was necessary for him to die so the world would see that when you keep the commandments death is incapable of holding you. It was also necessary that he died so God could fulfill the promise given to our ancestors about the promised coming resurrection of the dead. By raising the Messiah from death, God proved that the promise of the resurrection of the dead was in fact legitimate. If you recall, man didn’t die until eating the forbidden fruit if animal flesh. Yeshua Again Gives The Holy Humane Law After six days, when the Feast of Tabernacles was nigh at hand, Yeshua did take the Holy Twelve and did bring them up into a high mountain away from the people, and as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was changed, and he was transfigured before them, and his face did shine as the sun, and his robe was white as the light.
And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him and speaking of the Holy Law, and of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
And Moses spake, saying, "This is HE of whom I foretold, saying, A prophet from the midst of thy brethren, like unto me shall the Eternal Spirit send unto you, and that which the Eternal Spirit speaketh unto him, shall he speak unto you, and unto him shall ye hearken, and whoso will not obey shall bring upon themselves their own self-willed destruction."
Then Peter said unto Yeshua, "Dear Lord, it is good for us to be here; if thou wilt let us make there three tabernacles - one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
But while he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and twelve rays as of the sun issued from the cloud, and a voice came out of the cloud, which said, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him and keep his law."
And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly astonished. And Yeshua came and touched them and said, "Arise and be not afraid." And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Yeshua only. And the six glories of the eternal spirit, the first of the holy Archangels, were seen upon him.
And Yeshua said unto them, "Behold, anew I give unto you, The Law, which is not new but from old. Even as Moses gave the law to Israel after the flesh, so also I give unto you the law for the Kingdom of Israel after the Spirit.
"For who are the Israel of God? Even they of every nation and tribe who work righteousness, love, mercy and keep my commandments, these are the true Israel of God."
And standing upon his feet, Yeshua spake, saying:
"Hear O Israel, the Eternal All, Thy God is One; Many are My overseers, and My prophets. In Me all live and move, and have subsistence.
"Ye shall love thy God with all your understanding of the Holy Law.
"Ye shall love thy neighbor as yourself, even as the law instructs.
"Ye shall not take away the life of any creature for your pleasure, nor for your profit, nor yet torment it.
"Ye shall not steal the goods of any, nor gather lands and riches to yourselves, beyond your need or use.
''Ye shall not eat the flesh, nor drink the blood of any slaughtered creature, nor yet anything which bringeth disorder to your health or senses.
"Ye shall not make impure marriages, where love and health are not, nor yet corrupt yourselves, or any creature made pure by the Holy One.
"Ye shall not bear false witness against any, nor willfully deceive any by a lie to hurt them.
"Ye shall not do unto others, as ye would not that others should do unto you.
"Ye shall worship One Eternal, the Father-Mother in Heaven, of Whom are all things, and reverence the Holy Name, keeping sacred Their daily holy communions.
"Ye shall revere your fathers and your mothers on earth, whose care is for you, and all the teachers of righteousness.
"Ye shall cherish and protect the weak, and those who are oppressed, and all creatures that suffer wrong.
"Ye shall work with your hands the things that are good and seemly; so shalt ye eat the fruits of the earth, and live long in the land.
"Ye shall purify yourselves daily and rest every Seventh Day from labour, keeping Holy the Sabbaths and the Festivals of your God and Creator.
"Ye shall do unto others, as ye would that others should unto you."
And when his disciples heard these holy words, they smote upon their breasts, saying: "Wherein we have offended, O God please forgive us; and may thy wisdom, love and truth within us, so incline our hearts to love, keep and cherish this Holy Law."
And Yeshua said unto them, "My yoke is equal and my burden light, if ye will to bear it; to you it will be easy. Lay no other burden on those that enter into the kingdom, but only these necessary things.
"This is the Law renewed unto the Israel of God, and the complete Law is within, for it is the law of love, and it is not new but old. Take heed that ye add nothing to this law, neither take anything from it. For verily I say unto you, they who believe and obey this law shall be saved, and they who know and obey it not, shall be lost.
"But as in Adam all die, so in Christ shall all be made alive. And the disobedient shall be given many tests, for they who persist in wickedness shall descend and shall perish eternally; but they who obey my Law will inherit everlasting life."
And as they came down from the mountain, Yeshua charged them, saying, "Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the sleep of death."
His disciples then asked him, saying, "Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?" And Yeshua answered and said unto them, "Elias truly shall first come and make ready all things.
"But I say unto you, that Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they lusted. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them." Then the disciples under stood that Yeshua spake unto them of John the Baptist. .

What Jesus Christ did for us on the cross is far beyond our conscious! Because this a deed is high spiritual act. He did more than forgive us and the Sins of the world but also beyond the cross he created the way to the father's house for souls to be forgiven from their Sins. Because Jesus paid the price for our punishment. Also he defeated Satan and death. The cross is a symbol of strength and hope and eternal life ❤️ hallelujah praise Jesus Christ our Lord and savior

I think you speak the truth. But it's ok to start with worldly discussions, especially as open minded as this one is. It starts many on their journey, as witnessed by the many, many people who came to Christ through watching Peterson's theological conversations. But yes, to finally and truly submit to God, you can only use your heart. True surrender cannot be achieved with the mind, it is just a tool. In fact what you say is so true, that nobody will really understand it by reading it or thinking about it. You have to experience your own profound release by letting go utterly to the infinite power of God.

This is a waaay out there, superficial comparison from a non-religious person who has no business making these connections, but here it goes. Extending this to a worldly view, the work that Jesus did to die on the cross for our sins and then return to help us anyway is an exemple of what we need to see in our world. To fix many of the problems that we have today, we need people who are willing to work really hard (die on the cross) to become successful resource givers (give back to people in a resourceful way) instead of resource takers (as if Jesus took revenge on humans for nailing him to the cross). It's easy to find success and then convince yourself that you are owed the resources that open up to you through your success. But Jesus was never owed his revenge and probably never considered such a thing in his human form. Our world isn't sustainable unless we give back all that we can to help people. Of course, this is ignoring the politics and views of what it means to "help people". Maybe I'm off in left field after only a single viewing.

You are not off, you are very much on point. That is one of the quintessential messages of Jesus Christ. How much better our world would be if we could all "bear our cross" Luke 9:23 and "love others just as I have loved you" John 13:34. As you pointed out this is what our world sorely lacks and desperately needs.

Sir the answer is LOVE God is LOVE He LOVE all his creations, the creations were made because of his Son Jesus Christ. Even if we put it literally. A parent who loves his / her children had keep all those things pertaining to those children and will do anything for the sake of their children. A man who loves a woman keeps her things if not things - memories. Father knows how Jesus loves his creation because those were made because of him. It's priceless since its life - a human with soul... We have some parts from them. Because we're created as to their image.

What happened to verse 10? For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, (not the law) which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. The Gospel is Not faith alone. It's faith in the unseen and beliving from the heart that God raised Jesus from the dead "and" confessing Jesus as Lord "and" abstaining from wickedness and asking forgiveness of our sins and forgiving others. Also, we should ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit to be born again. Do you not know that you are a temple of God and His Holy Spirit can dwell with you?

Let me just take a shot in the dark here~ “Is it the willingness to bear the pain?" It isn't. And I am sorry you are dealing with this - it makes me mad honestly because the devil is stealing your health and your joy. But I know God can turn this around for you. God does not punish us with pain. We wouldn’t break our child’s arm to punish them, and it doesn’t make us feel good to see them suffer. Why do we attribute these characteristics to God? I did for many years until I finally understood otherwise. There are two issues here: 1. healing of sickness 2. bearing one’s cross/partaking in Christ’s sufferings. These are TWO separate issues with wholly different approaches to both understanding and overcoming them. I will focus on ‘bearing one’s cross/partaking in Christ’s sufferings.’ The cross is what you don’t want to do, at any cost, however, you know you’re being called to do it. It’s like Paul’s thorn in the flesh. Like Christ’s cup in the garden of Gethsemane. If we don’t want to do something, then we don’t do it; that’s simple enough. But in this case, the Cross represents something we know we should do, we just don’t want to do it. Maybe it’s pride, fear, annoyance, etc. that keeps us from moving ahead. This is often recurring, not a one time thing. Furthermore, the cross is what you DO want to do that you know is wrong (this is usually an evil intention or sinful nature we haven’t gained control over) that we must put under/refuse and instead pick up our cross and deny ourselves the indulgence. This can be very difficult. Now all have sinned. But in this case, the cross is an example of a recurring, perhaps addictive sinful pleasure that one cannot (does not want to) break free of. This can be chronic laziness, gluttony, or sexual sin, to name a few. The pain of the denial will be the same across the board for each individual’s cross. Suffering under the oppression of sickness and disease is not what the word is teaching when it says, 1 Peter 14.12-14 "Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial that has come upon you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed at the revelation of His glory. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.." The suffering? Persecution, in this case insulted for speaking of Christ, acting like Him, acknowledging Him or just in general people hating you because you love doing good and fighting evil. The world hates us, we’ve got to get over it. This is partaking in Christ’s suffering. Jesus said, If they hated me, they’ll hate you. If they loved Me, they’ll love you. A student is not above his teacher… Next, Sacrifice: Matthew 10.37-39 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." The suffering/sacrifice? Leaving something/someone we love (the life we love, the pleasure, indulgences, comfort etc) to follow the call of God. Not all are called to do this. (Responsibility/talents…) God sees each of us as individuals, and He treats us, like we as parents, treat our very different, individual children. What He has called you to do is not (perhaps) what He has called me to do. The flesh, as Paul calls it, is our own sinful nature. Perhaps it’s the secret sin only we know about, but we must sacrifice this behavior if we want to walk in the Spirit and become who God calls us to be. This is suffering- the truly deep heartache, that one thing we long for more than anything that is not good for us but it’s hard to say no to…. it’s what Paul was struggling with in Romans 7, sooo many get stuck here and never advance beyond Christianity 101. We wrestle with our sins and stay stuck in this fallen, earthly tent. The Holy Spirit cannot use a vessel trying to pour new wine into itself without taking off the old wine skin and putting on the new wine skin (Christ). The answer to Pauls perplexity, is in Romans 8 - walking in the Holy Spirit. Putting off our will (old wine skin) and submitting to the will of the Father (Christ). Christianity 500+……(This, ‘Walking in the Spirit’, is a different class:) [Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Galatians 5.24] Offering the body as a living sacrifice to God is difficult, mainly because it keeps wanting to crawl down off the cross and run away….the suffering of Christ was submitting His will to God’s will. For Him it was the Cross, for me it’s something different, as for you. But it’s always putting off our own will and submitting to God. Not all can do this, they will make it to heaven, but they will miss their calling. God has provided healing (by His stripes we are healed & my brethren, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, EVEN AS your soul (mind will emotions) prospers. So let’s get that off the table; your cross, partaking in Christ’s sufferings, has nothing to do with suffering in pain, sickness or disease. So there’s the other issue of physical suffering and how to overcome it and get healed of it. Honestly, this is the hardest thing for most believers to conquer. Many a sermon has been preached about healing and the power of the Holy Spirit to heal us. Look how many people Jesus healed. Some had faith, some didn’t and He still healed them all. But they had to come to Him. This is what God wants for all of us, to heal us of our sickness and disease. Whole books have been written about it. There are many who preach and demonstrate the power of God today, perhaps one of the greatest in understanding the healing power of the Holy Spirit was the late Kathryn Kuhlman. She’s also the farthest thing from academia that one can get. There are many modern books about healing, Kathryn is just a personal favorite of mine because she was so unashamedly devoted to God in all her quirkiness…and He loved her for it. God does not remain in the tidy boxes we fashion for Him…

@@Jcg12957 Ah, Paul and his grace enthusiasts. I love his second letter to the Corinthians about this man, but alas, this is a different topic altogether. We are dealing with two formidable opponents here on Earth: our own sinful nature and Satan. These also intertwine at times, but not always. Our own decisions can absolutely ruin our life. One can be persecuted for Christ’s sake which is honorable, and one can be persecuted for doing something stupid. Let’s not blame everything on God. Take note, verses 4 and 5 tell us everything we need to know; the man has sinned. The consequence of Satan getting ‘at his flesh’ is not a willful punishment by God, it is a consequence of sin. (I will add briefly here that truly, the man had to be kicked out of God’s presence in order to receive the punishment. That doesn’t sound like a ready-to-punish-willfully God to me.) Now, if we sin, we receive the wages of death (and death can come in many forms: physically, financially, relationally, etc). However, our redemption through Christ is not based on our willingness to bear the pain of our own sins. How convenient that would be! “The more sickness I bear the more holy I am, look how I am barely breathing! Oh how holy I must be”….ha, not on your life. Our redemption was the price HE paid. You don’t earn your standing in the kingdom of God by how much pain you can bear for your own sins. That was Christ’s cross for the sins of the world. Your part is to walk in Christ and put off sinning. He came to redeem us of this fallen state. We do not worship a temperamental Father in heaven. And personally, I have a hard time with Christians who attribute evil to God so that they can clear their own guilty conscience. It’s neurotic on our part. I’m thankful I understand differently now. Christ died for us. Let’s walk like we care about that. This needs to be front and center: God does not punish us with pain, sickness or disease. But Satan certainly will, and he gains access through sin. Don’t forget the man by the Pool of Bethesda: “Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” If that man were to begin sinning again, after Christ instructed him not to, I’d say that isn’t God punishing him, but rather his own stupidity he is suffering from… If we sin, do something wrong, entertain evil, sin itself brings the wages of death: “For the wages of sin is death; BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6.23. So again, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I [God] am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10.10 Luke 11.12-13 “What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” God has provided all manner of knowledge that we might live a victorious life here on Earth. “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” I think we often just get big egos about holding to a certain old-fashioned idea about God because we are being lazy and unwilling to do the real work to pull out the deeper revelation in scripture. Now, lastly I would say this to you personally John G: it is you who should take your verses 4 and 5 and determine how YOUR view lines up with the scriptures I have given. Should I do your work for you? You lazily cut and paste and ask me to explain myself, yet again, after all the scripture I have already given you. This is why the Body of Christ has suffered. Lack of effort; and instead burden others to do the intellectual and spiritual work for us.

Jordan Peterson If u ever read this I love ur work u encourage me to think deeper and develop habits to better myself. But I say this with love please stop keeping God at arms length. Idk if u are trying to find the truth of God and come to believe in him or you are fascinated with the person of Christ or maybe both. But "Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore seek not to understand that thou may believe, but believe that thou may understand." Augustine And regarding the sacrifice of Christ it is not this romanticized version u have been hearing. It wasn't the Father looking at the nails in Christ hands it wasn't the thorn of crowns it wasn't the betrayel of his friends or even suffering for being innocent and the embarrassment or physical abuse and pain emotional or physical. It was the wrath of God that u and me deserve for all of our wickedness it was Christ on that Cross suffering at the hands of an angry and just God showing his hatred for sin on Jesus that U and I deserve and that is why we can be saved from death and judgement. Isaiah 53:10 Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him he has put him to grief when his soul makes an offering for guilt he shall see his offspring he shall prolong his days the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied. John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. Romans 2:5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's judgement will be revealed. Please I plead with u repent and believe. God is not some mere physcholgical figure to be studied and figured out. Rather he is a loving and just God who has sent a savior for those who will trust him. The simple gospel message is one of good news u and I have broken God's law he has payed the fine. Hebrews 10: 28-29 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without Mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses how much worse punishment do you think will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified and has outraged the spirit of Grace. Romans 5:7-9 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person -- though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die --but God showed his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.

I truly don’t understand why religious people keep missing the real message of Yeshuah, they complicate things in a way that only the intellect and the ego can rationalized, the way of God is so much easier and simpler than that for sure, I was a none believer for 53 years of my life before my NDE and there I meet Jesus. I agree, and would add there is an obligation on our part to live according to his example if we are to set the world straight. Christ 'took the sins of the world upon himself' (Christ voluntarily took responsibility for the world's chaos and disorder) and the way forward--to birth order out of chaos--is for the individual to set themselves straight and live with the highest degree of integrity conceivable (as Christ did).

@@jeremyashcraft2053 Im a realist, i understand ppl are gonna sin. I have no issue with that, all part of the learning process. When you start worshipping false idols we've entered a much more serious conversation tho.

I recently learned something about the Lord Jesus saying "father why has thou forsaken me" Jordan used to quote niezche and say "the suffering of life is such that even God would question his own existence" Well what I learned is that Jesus was quoting Psalm 22. And he that so that the Pharisees may know who he was.

Well, as far as missing the mark goes, misunderstanding the word and/or reasons is a major part of it all inasmuch as we ought to leave it to GOD, whatever is far fetched, just trust 100%. He created all things for himself and, he's not going to allow some perverted idea to take any of it from his pleasure, much less his more precious creation. The story of the prodigal son testifies to answer it. Consciously good! Conscious Love towards the Father, recognizing his Glory for what he truly is, a Loving Father. Embrace the Pain, it has brought you to God! Consciously Good, Very Good! Thank You!
