I still remember the Muslim techie being killed in Pune. I was shocked since it was my city. But I was equally shocked when accomplished colleagues at office said, it is okay since 'they do the same to us in their places'. These were well dressed, erudite, PhD holders from top places in India, fairly good at their jobs, earning good packages and so on. They came from all castes and were proud of their caste identity but also weirdly proud of Hindu identity at the same time. I remember they used to try and push me to 'act like a Brahmin' while they were themselves coming from the other castes. When I told them I don't follow anything because I hate this caste and religion identity and want nothing to do with my ancestors and would remain staunchly agnostic, they told 'No but it is important, you have a duty to stay Hindu'. Modi's India is full of paradoxical people like this. It's entirely nonsensical.

If we have educated & international fames like Taroor we can dream of a better India both domestic and international.
