The PaTRAM Institute Male Choir Performing in Concert at the Saratov Conservatory (Russia) in 2019

August 22nd, 2019 - an evening to remember! The PaTRAM Institute Male Choir performed their repertoire in concert at the Saratov Conservatory. The singers hail from Russia, Serbia, North America, and Australia. GRAMMY-nominated Maestro Vladimir Gorbik conducted the choir, which included an unprecedented ten octavists, with baritone Michail Davydov as the featured soloist. Bishop Nicholas, carrying the Kursk Root Icon and accompanied by Metropolitan Longin, led the procession into the standing room only auditorium. The Hierarchs then watched with the over-1000 person audience as the Choir gave a riveting performance culminating with an encore and 5+ minute standing ovation.

There is literally nothing on earth like this extremely rare choir. I am a retired cathedral choirmaster, organist, composer, teacher and violist. I have dreamed all my life to hear such a choir. I am so proud of this group and proud of their work. Blessings and long life from a humble musician here in California, USA.

True, man. I'm not a religious person, so there isn't a sentimental or spiritual value for me in this music. I am not a connoisseur of choir music, but after listening to the album, i went looking for the songs in other versions and nothing comes even close to the heights these professionals elevated these pieces. But there's no denying it, they achieve the goal of making you feel something holy listening to it.

To be honest, we don't know. You'll have to inquire with Guiness Book of Records, if they keep such statistics.

1:11:11 I think is The beginning of 'More Honourable than The Cherubim' with that monstrous and awe inspiring descent from D2 - D1 at the end!

музыка для души, I simply cannot get enough of listening to this choir and this recording, I often listen to this on "repeat". It is a blessing to be able to access this music. Maybe one day I will be able to listen to a live performance. Thanks for posting this.

We think you're speaking of the Kursk Root Icon which accompanied the choir at this performance. You can read about its history here: www.eadiocese.org/kurskrooticon. There are many different icons representing the Mother of God (Most Holy Theotokos), each with its own unique history and characteristics. Al di là della performance musicale, del tutto spettacolare, ci sono altre cose che mi lasciano rapito. Una città piccola, molto più di Napoli, che ha una simile sala da concerto nel suo conservatorio, il pubblico, composto, attento, competente ; i bambini, anche piccolissimi, che restano buoni, zitti e seduti ascoltando e la reazione del pubblico tutto all'inizio quando entra il Patriarca. Quale universo ci separa da persone così? Noi, con la vergogna di un vaticano ormai sdraiato alla cultura gender, con la massa ignorante e prona al vuoto di spettacolini per depensanti ..... Quale è mai questo universo ?? Lunga vita alla cultura ed alla dignità del popolo Russo.

Fr. Leonid does not sing the Oktavist part. He is, indeed, a Bass. Not a "regular" bass but an EXCELLENT Bass!
