Yeah, your gums can be hurt, because braces might are a bit sharp. But no, sole procedure at the dentist does not hurt, so there is no anesthesia needed. But later you may want to take painkillers for couple of days. Anesthesia doesn't last that long.

Since they have report from the hospital of the girl's condition and determine the incubation period and retrace their steps, once they test the doctor and he is positive I think they have all the evidence they'll need for conviction. Also in this situation the girl doesnt even know or remember that happening cause he used drugs to knock her out. So once they test him for the same thing and it matches then it's a sure case without question.
