Judge Mathis is so detached from reality. You can't stop paying rent to save up for another place. No one else will rent to you once they see that your current landlord is suing and evicting you after 3 months of non-payment. And when you have kids, unless your family will help with childcare, a second job won't work out well since off hours daycare is more expensive.

The defendant probably owed for damages, but I don't like the way JM shut her down trying to explain why she couldn't move 6 kids on day one. She already put down every bit of money she had on a month of rent up front. She probably has no credit, finding housing with no good credit is HARD & even when you do have good credit, most places want 1st & last months rent plus deposit to move in, plus proof of income that is 3 times the rent. There are not many places willing to do a month to month. As much as he "fights for the community" he shows his ignorance to some very serious struggles. But also, defendant should have had used birth control or condoms after baby #1. There's no way she birthed 6 kids & didn't know that she was putting herself in an unmanageable situation.
