The Penn State Cover Crop Interseeder and Applicator

This system was designed to help establish cover crops in areas where cover crop establishment is not that feasible because of a late harvest and short season.
With this system, cover crops are interseeded early in the season but provide minimal competition to the corn. The interseeder is designed to be able to apply sidedress N fertilizer and a postemergent herbicide while seeding the cover crop, eliminating the need for additional trips across the field and reducing the cost of seeding the cover crop.

Hello, here in Europe, Denmark, we farmers are required to plant cover crops by the government and many chose to plant them in with corn for silage. We are only allowed to plant rye grass single specie. Here they usually just grow big enough to survive the winter and then grow most of its in the spring

We have worked with the interseeder in organic corn and soybean production as well, and it can work there too. More of our cover crop research is available at extension.psu.edu/forage-and-food-crops/cover-crops

@@Atimatimukti Did you know that certified organic systems use herbicides as well? Along with a startling amount of plastic mulch. It's difficult to have a system that's no-till, herbicide-free, and productive.

@@AMortalDothApproach agree on the amount of plastic (I never use it) but, herbicide?? That is not possible, if they use it they should loose the certification.

@@Atimatimukti lol it absolutely is possible, there are OMRI listed herbicides, you can look it up. They're based on stuff like vinegar.
