100% agree with you. While pros are blowing people's minds with svengali decks, beginners are saying it's too simple. What a paradox! Btw, I just discovered your channel. I love your stuff!

This is awesome! Some magicians may call it old or amateurish, but the payoff is HUGE. Audiences love ACAAN. It just looks so impossible! And you explained it very well! Thanks!

Meh. My experience is that most just 'like it' because they don't really understand what happened and are peer pressured into being amazed. Tricks can be too good. It has to be right on the threshold of impossible, so that it makes them think and quickly exhaust any ideas of you you could've done it. 'Impossible' is just overwhelming and bypasses wonder, straight to stupification and boredom. A lot of times when they see something so 'impossible' they in fact do assume 'trick deck'. Magicians quickly forget their experiences as a spectator, when they start turning tricks.

This is a great use for this deck. My mom ordered me this deck at the beginning of COVID and I only knew the original trick. This is something I am going to try since I love ACAAN's and I was looking for some other tricks with this deck. Another thing is I didn't know you could shuffle the deck! Thank you for the video Cavan! #Roadto14K!

To get over the odds and evens I use a roughing stick for the first two cards that are identical to the key card in the rest of the deck. Odds mean you take two as one card and evens you take one at a time. Start the count then say sorry you continue the count. Now whatever card they land on its the chosen card.

If you "only" want to use a Svengali-Deck to force a card or to show effects which are related to cutting the deck, you can even do an overhand shuffle. Because even if the cards are not perfectly interlaced, you will almost every time cutn to a short card.
@CavanBooth1

Very true! Just for this effect, that would be slightly riskier!

The 'mime' beforehand will almost guarantee they copy you and do it by the ends, and even if not, every time either a face up or face down card will be the force, so you can change in the moment to land on the force card!

If the spectator cuts the pack holding the short ends of the pack it would work but what happens if they cut holding the long sides of the cards wouldn't they run the risk of cutting straight to the repeated gimmick card ?

I love your thinking here. Clean, mostly hands off, able to emphasize the performance which translates into relaxation and fun. I used to perform using Ken Krenzel's "Open and Shut Case" (super devious method) but there is some on the spot calculation which translated into anxiety. Hated that! Your method appears clean and hands off to the audience. That's worth everything! Well done.

It will work if you cut it from the side, as you always cut to two cards when you halve the deck. The force card will be cut to either way, as they alternate.

@CavanBooth1
@CavanBooth1 11 ай бұрын
You don't need to cut from the top ends. Cutting anywhere and anyhow still results in cutting to a force card, as they are every other card. Also, ignoring the fact that most non-magicians do cut cards from the top ends?

@@CavanBooth1I enjoy that instead of asking "what if they do this..." he says a condescending statement. Like oh sorry this FREE TRICK doesnt work the way you think it should. This is a good idea. I have a svengali deck i never use. As a working pro this seems like a good reason to toss in the case.

It's not impressive to do a thing with a deck of cards set up. Certainly not to the degree of half the cards being the same.
@CavanBooth1
@CavanBooth1 Жыл бұрын
You've entirely missed the point. The method never ever ever needs to be "impressive". Magic is about the effect, the memory you leave with the spectator. Doesnt matter how you do it or how easy or impressive it is.
