Interesting choices. Never heard of Conversano before this. For a curve ball, I would have actually chosen Nicky Butt. Next job for my choice? Assistant Manager or Technical Director

@@fmscout he also starts unemployed, right? He's actually pretty decent at a variety of roles - I'm probably going to approach to sign him right at the start of my next save and see what role he wants (besides manager, of course, hehe)

One thing I think you might have missed. HOYD Reputation has a pretty significant effect youth intake. I went from a 2.5 star HOYD to a 4 star HOYD both with similar stats and the PA of my intake jumped by about 20 points ("elite" prospects went from 150 to 170+, top from 130-40 to 150-160 and so forth)

Aaahh yes, good shout!! I think I "automatically" assume that you would sign a high as possible reputation HOYD, or all staff really. But very good tip indeed, thanks!!

Thank you for the recommendations. I had Dirk Mack or a newgen as candidates for HOYD in my Werder RTG. But will check out Mertesacker, always nice to have former players return home.

Luiz Fernando Moraes is my head of youth at ATG in Brazil! And we have had some insane youth intakes.I am in season 5 and have 12 first team members we developed and we have sold multiple Wunderkinds to English and Spanish clubs. He applied for the job, I didn't even have to seek him out. He is amazing.

Great video! Something you missed but is SUPER important during that 1st year that your HoY works with your prospects: MAKE SURE THEY SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF THE MAJORITY OF YOUR TEAM. If you take an English team with the majority of your youth team coming from England your kids will develop much slower if your HoY comes from say Brazil and speaks no English. Ive havent quantified the results but I think your youth players develop 50% slower if the coach has no language skills in the country he is coaching in. This goes down as the HoYD learns the language but it's very noticable.

@@kennymabaera7719 it helps over the course of a season but even a coach with a high adaptability attribute will still take a few months to fully learn a language if they dont speak the native language at all. You will lose around 50% of any training bonuses for at least the first 2 to 3 months. That % goes down as time goes by but it is noticable.

The HoY is automatical included in your U18 coaching staff without adding it as a part time job.

Hi Andrew! I went and checked 5 of my random saves just now and my HOYD is nowhere to be found/seen in the U18/U20 coaching staff, if he doesn't have that as a secondary job. So or I'm missing something here, or what you say is simply not true 🙂

Confirmed by SI. 1. All youth coaching staff can impact on personality/media handling style of intake, but HoYD has most influence. Same is true for quality of rare 'freak' (SI term...) Youth intake, but again HoYD has biggest influence.

What do you think of the generic HOYD that FM creates?. Do they influence the quality of regents the club generates as well? Are they better or worse than Real life HOYD

Hi Peter! So you mean the regen HOYD's? If so, I think they can be REALLY good, or REALLY bad as well :-) and everthing in between really, same as with regen players. Hope that answers your question? Let me know!

Personality : Determined Judging player ability: 20 Judging player potenial: 20 Working with youngsters: 20 Determination: 20 People managment 20 Motivation 19 Also Amazing coaching skills. Attack, Defend, Technical and Tactic all 18!

What a surprise, staff members only feasible for top clubs (and top clubs in England especially). For people who don't run to take over Newcastle (or some other Premier league club), 3 of the five in this list are largely unattainable at save start. Eric's reputation alone would be an impediment, unless you let him sit unemployed for a year. I think you should also mention that even with a "perfect" HOYD, you're still likely to get trash in your intakes. If you're looking for an affordable option that doesn't require you to be top-6, look at Ingrid Vanherle. I don't play in England ever and I don't take over creampuff clubs (tons of money, Champions league ready squad, etc) so my shortlist for staff is comprised of people who are good with upside.

I’m running a Sochaux save and just won Ligue 2 first season, actually had a very good intake, but considering how good the facilities are I feel my HOYD could maybe be a little bit better, thanks for the suggestion I will check him out next time I hop on

Hi! So 2 of the 5 are attainable for lower rep clubs, right? Which is kind of the point of these episodes. Especially nr 4 should always be REALLY attainable for lower rep clubs. And yes, a perfect HOYD does not mean every or ANY youth intake has the next Messi in it... but I would hope everyone knows that by now, or will find out for themselves real soon. 🙂 Every little bit helps, I would think, also having the best HOYD you can possibly have.

I worded that poorly. I was just disappointed about the choices. I was expecting something like the wonderkid series on your channel (i.e. some out of nowhere choices available to pretty much anyone 2nd or 3rd tier up). HoYDs are typically lifers to me. Get a good one, sign them up for max length and keep them signed. I'm even trying new ones like Lorena Balaci. I figured she gave birth to a once-wonderkid so she can't be THAT bad. Especially for a 2nd tier club in the Netherlands.

@@Remianen Hi again! No worries, I totally respect that opinion. The reason why I created the five "different" kinds of recommendations, is to hopefully have at least one in there for everyone, no matter what club you are managing. It won't always be waterproof of course, but all I can do is try 🙂

Does the HOYD play an important role in youth intake? In my MK dons save, the players suggested to be my youth intake were very bad and I don’t know who to blame for that.

Oh yeah Onah, really important role for that! But as other people also already said: even with a brilliant HOYD, you can still have a crappy youth intake 🙂(so it's not a magic wand solution)

Hi Mark! To my knowledge, this simply indicates how eager they would be to take a job in THAT function, so the "job interest". Their actual ability to DO that job, is based on the attributes and all. Hope this helps!

@@spud312001 Yeah, the only way (I think) to increase world knowledge for ANY staff member, is to have them scout certain countries/areas or to hire them when managing a club in that country. If that's not an option, I'm not really sure you can change that... Maybe someone else has another solution, but I can't really think of one. If you do find out, let me know! 🙂

You can try to hire them as scout first. Let them scout nations like Brazil, Argentina, and Spain to build up knowledge about these countries and then promote them into the HoYD role. Make sure to check the adaptability attribute. Otherwise, it can take a while before they build up new country knowledge. You don’t have to bet on one staff member, but can hire multiple scouts with good attributes as a HoYD and try to increase their scouting knowledge.

When i signed abidal at the start of my save, he wouldnt accept anything less than director of football. He was terrible at negotiaiting.... kinda felt bad about replacing him in march

Coaches have a CA and PA as well. Coaches will develop depending upon where you put them during training as well as who they are working with. Say you have a mediocre coach with a 10 Attack and a 10 tactical attributes. If you put them as the coach for Tactical Attacking over the season youll see them develop a little bit over the season. However, if you put them on Tactical Attacking and use another coach with much higher attributes in those categories you will see a much higher jump in the younger coach's attributes. Ive seen coaches go from 10 to 16 in the attributes that theyre coaching from workong under a veteran coach in the same training sessions.

Hi Alex! Nope, I don't know the developers, unfortunately 🙂 Everything I put into my videos, comes from a lot of research, playing the game for over 25 years, and mostly testing as well! BUT in theory, since I don't know the actual game code, I could be horribly wrong! 🙂

@@HERMES_10 for this kind of video I have also loaded in all players form ALL continents/countries/... (player count of +/- 438.000) I guess this also loads in ALL staff from those countries. That's the only explanation I can give you really. Let me know if it helps!
