HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.

For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals. For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.

Dopp kit comes from Charles Doppelt, his company designed the first toiletry bags in the early 20th century. My favorite dopp kit is still the slim from Gravel 🙌🏻

I love this dopp kit. Yes, it's big, but it's a perfect size to put both toiletries and my makeup in instead of having to pack 2 separate pouches. The size is probably unnecessary for most, but for me, it's great.

As someone who owns 2 Peak Design Tech Pouches I have to say I don't see the need for the Washpouch, as a man anyway. From lots and lots of traveling I found it was honestly just easier to use Ziplock bags to carry toiletries, saves a ton of space too.

Hi Bo. Glad you were only filling to max for trial! For my style of travel I try to be very minimalist and as light as possible. Unless I combine med kit will not have such a big dopp kit. As some pointed out below it is named after an american leather maker whose kits were issued to the military during WW2. Charles Doppelt. Funnily enough I was brought up calling it a toiletry bag.

Nice review. Love the thing myself. Would just love a smaller version for short weekend trips... most of my trips are by train / car so I don’t need to worry about airport restrictions and zip bags 😉

According to Wikipedia, the term Dopp kit derives from "the early 20th century leather craftsman Charles Doppelt, whose company designed the case in 1926. "Toiletry" and "Dopp" kits became synonymous when the [US] military issued them through World War II."

Agree! Now use the Tech Pouch at home and for tech on the road I bought the Field Pouch as a replacement

I use the tashtego travel kit v2. It rolls up, so it adjusts to how much stuff you put in it. That looks too bulky for me.

Tech pouch is actually 0.5L smaller than the wash pouch

The trouble with big doppkits is that you just bring way more than you actually need. I kickstarted a Gravel doppkit that has a mio pockets. Hated it. Now I got the Topo designs and it rocks. Easy access and more than enough space, even for wet shaving gear.

Nice video as usual. I think too much thought is given for a toiletry bag. As long as it holds what I need it to hold, that's all I care about, and no way I'm paying more than $20 for it.

LOL my dopp bag is a ziplock bag. When I get back to traveling Hopefully next year that is what I will use, I got my travel bag and camera bag small enough so I do carry on, I got a Rolo Travel bag it I can use it on the bike or travel by plane, train or bus. Trying to do the minimalist thing still😆 That PD bag does look like a nice piece of kit, I could probably fit my Camera kit in it. When I was in the USA Military it was called a shaving kit bag. Dopp kit from what I read on Wikipedia under Toiletry Bag its a term used for toiletry bags a early 20th century Leather craftsman Charles Dopplett designed the case in 1926 and Dopp kit became synonymous when issued to the US Military in WW II. Makes sense. I also read Buxton owns the name now. I got one in basic training it had a zipper and the side opened up and I had until I retired don't know what I did with it.

perhaps a great bag to combine makeup, toiletries and first aid for travel whilst still keeping everything minimal by taking smaller products. the size and pockets make me very drawn to this bag. :)

Thanks, Emma. I would recommend to buy reusable travel bottles. They are small, safe the environment and you can basically just fill them with the liquids that you use on a regular basis straight from the regular sized bottles

I have this and the Heimplanet dopp kit. I very much prefer the Heimplanet. This is way too bulky.

It’s definitely more for luxury travel than minimal travel. Like, I filled mine up only by packing in a loofah and a camping towel, and instead of a small razor and travel toothbrush, I packed my full sized Philips OneBlade razor and my full sized electric toothbrush. Plus three weeks’ worth of medications, extra tissues and toilet paper, full sized body and shampoo soap bars, and a small first aid kit. In comparison, if I was traveling minimally, I would probably only need about 1/4 the space that this thing has.
