Tried to put into practice the grip lesson from last week. It's a winner. From a weak grip to a neutral felt more stable in my hand and through the shot. Can't wait to play around with ball position. I like the look of a ball further up in my stance, so we'll see what happens. Loving this series.

Another great session, Dave. What most golfer's take for granted is critical for a good swing, and solid ball striking. When you get it wrong, a bad shot rears it's ugly head.

3 points of contact awesome tip seemed to help make my contact with the turf more consistent. From where the club impacted the turf I can see hitting ground before ball won't be a thought anymore thanks Dave

I needed this, my swing has felt great, the low point of my swing is good (using an accustrike mat) but for some reason my path is just about a clubhead’s width inside the ball, meaning I am hitting everything 90° left (I am left-handed). The 3-point posture and letting my hands fall naturally has proved invaluable. Dave, as always, your clear and concise guidances has worked wonders (in practice!)

Some sound advice here Dave. Thanks for tne tips. About 55 years ago this drill and ball position training was given to me by our club pro anx working with him got me down to 6. Now at 71 I still maintain that drill and ball positioning. Difference now is. 22 handicap and almost no follow through. Don't we all love age......lol

This is the critical stuff that you need to do befor every shot. I personally play the ball back a bit on the short irons with 7 just back of center and SW way back. It works for me but the key is consistant setup of you, the club, and the ball. I reach to hit my driver but prefer other clubs to not be reaching. If I play the ball too close I will slice no matter the club, so distance from ball is critical. thanks Dave

I am always amazed at instructors that can judge ball position by the width of a nasal passage. Ball positioning has to be flexible for a player depending on his /her physical condition and mobility. Centred for an iron or left heel for a driver is a good staring point and then adjust to one’s own ability. At my age 72+ I find that the second tilt gives me lower back ache and a more upright stance works best. I hope #3 in the series (bad mobility) will show adjustments for the “less than tour pro” players.

Richard Croft; Think of it this way. If we were all under a bell curve you and I (71. yrs old) would be near the end of the curve :). Of course, at our age physical mobility declines and we make adjustments accordingly that are not exactly "Pro Tour Player" caliber. I think this lesson is aimed at the middle of the bell curve where the population still has hope of great improvement.
