There are so many incredible cycling routes in Southern Germany, but even amongst so many wonderful options, the Donau Valley stands out as an absolute highlight. If you enjoy riding gravel, then this ride is worth putting on your list for sure! I was very lucky to be able to experience the route during the Everve Gravel Tour 2024, an organised gravel group ride, sponsored by local cycling company Everve. The organisation was absolutely top-notch, and the route selection really could not have been any better. There is a fantastic and diverse blend of terrain, as well as plenty of sections ready to test various technical skills. But none of it is too challenging, so don't be shy of giving it a try! The gravel sections specifically were all pristine, and were some of the smoothest I've ever ridden. I would be more than happy to ride here again anytime!
I encourage everyone to check out the event for its future iterations, but in the meantime, definitely check out the amazing route, which you can ride absolutely any time! The entire Donau valley is full of gorgeous landscapes and wonderful cycling paths. No matter what, if you love cycling, you'll love riding here!
