In this video I talk about the different factors that I feel contributed to my development of cancer and its persistence.
I focus specially on the emotional aspects illness, the biopsychosocial model and psycho-neuro-endocrine-immunology network that connects the mind and body when dealing with disease as well as personality traits that can contribute.
💫Thanks for watching! 💛

Yes you are so right about Ecclesiastes especially Ecclesiastes 2:24-26. It is the human nature to always wish for something different, maybe the grass is greener on the other side, but it’s really just accepting that God put you where your need to be when you need to be there, and you just have to appreciate it no matter what.

Wow 😯 I just realized how dangerous it’s is , to suppress your feelings . And that’s me I never liked conflict , to avoid arguments and because I didn’t want . People to be upset at me & I always put other people , before me . And I’m I people pleaser , I could have been used a door mat . And when hurt 😢 I would say a word , and then after I would think 🤔 . Why didn’t tell them how hurt 😢 I was . But then it was too late & wouldn’t have the courage , to confront the situation . And I think 🤔 that added to my : severe depression , anxiety , panic attacks . And I have been Hospitalized twice , and so I have to take psychotropic drugs for the rest of my life unfortunately ! And I know I need to change , to stick up for myself ! But no matter how I tried , I just don’t have the courage to do it ! Dr., Tran Thank you 🙏🏿 as always , you have opened my eyes today ! And I have learned so much from you , you’re such a warrior & a true inspiration . And I love ❤️ how you explained everything so , it’s easy to understand ! I will continue praying 🙏🏿 for you & your lovely family . May God Bless your family : today , tomorrow & always . 🙏🏿❤️🤗🤲😊😳😑🤭😘🥰👼

I just want to give you a big hug!! I can tell how kind you are to others with the way you speak to me (a total stranger) and I think that turning that kindness to yourself will make a big difference. I know how hard it is to do that though and before I make any decisions even if it’s grabbing for something to eat, I ask myself, is this what you would do if you loved yourself (or loved someone if you can’t say it about yourself) and it usually gives me some pause to not make the poor decision. Much love to you 💛💛

I have my doubts about suppressed emotions causing cancer. My ex-husband has been more than willing to express his emotions through rage and anger and he has cancer. He doesn’t hold anything back. On the other hand, I’m the kind of person who is that “nice” person that you described and, I too, have cancer. There is a history of cancer in both of our families. I honestly think we are going to eventually identify more cancer markers in our DNA. But I also believe there are environmental factors that can cause cancer as well.
@NhiTranLee
@NhiTranLee 14 күн бұрын
Yes, I am sure there are many factors which I mentioned in terms of environment and genetics, and suppression of emotions is just one side of it. I think in general any unhealthy way to either express or not express emotions that bring a “stressed” state to our bodies is harmful, so it’s always good to address the psychological aspects of disease as well.

I genuinely believe stress is a major contributing factor. I had breast cancer twice by age 40. I always ate healthy, am a non smoker, and was fairly athletic for a non athlete. I was tested and had no "cancer genes", they dis a very broad panel after my second diagnosis. The only thing I can figurw is stress,m. Because I went through many consecutive years of high stress.

Girl!! I had to pause so many times to process! 😭 I previously commented- but basically I was diagnosed with melanoma when I was like 9 weeks pregnant (I’m 32 years old btw), had to wait and was awake for the sentinel node biopsy and wide local excision in my 2nd trimester for baby’s safety. During that time of waiting for surgery and then waiting on results, I was given so much grace, love, attention, and prayer by people. The “close” people that have had high expectations for me and never expressed love towards me were all of a sudden telling me to take it easy and give myself grace. It was such a moving experience and was such an amazing thing. About a month ago, we got the call that they found no melanoma in the skin or lymph nodes they took out (truly a miracle). We were all so happy and thankful to God for days, but now things are back to normal- the expectations are back, the kind words are back to the normal, pre-cancer levels, and I feel myself falling back to my old self of brushing my desires off to make others happy. I can’t seem to stand my ground, as I’ve never really lived like that before. Lord, have mercy! Thanks for putting this video out there. Really praying for good, lasting, healthy change.

Wowww! I am so happy for you to hear that it was not cancer. It seemed like a wake up call for you though and I am sure you have a whole new perspective because of what happened. Things can go back to “normal” so easily when we let it. I can be very stubborn and it takes a few times to knock on my door before I realize I need to change.

Yes! Just to clarify, pathology from a few months ago said it was melanoma 6mm thick, and I still had bumps on the skin before the surgery that the surgical oncologist said was new melanoma growth. Leading up to the surgery, the bumps started looking smaller. We were praying for the surgeons to take out enough to get clear margins, but were absolutely shocked when the results came back that they found no melanoma at all! My regular doctor goes to our church and said it was miraculous and we agree. Anyway, wishing you all the best and praying for you. You’ve been a big blessing to many of us!

As someone who experienced a horrendous childhood that lay a path for extreme struggles with emotional authenticity throughout life, you absolutely nailed it here Every single word resonated as a truth I am now familiar with, and undoubtedly has the potential to benefit others, especially those who are ready to go deep, where it matters most. Why you got cancer? … you’re a doctor so you would know more than most people - but it’s a great mystery why people get sick with disease - especially when they’re young. I had breast cancer. I was dx at 50-yrs - no family history, non-smoker, social drinker although I have had a sober lifestyle for the past 10-years. I am 66-yrs now so I was very fortunate. I was Stage 3b inflammatory - triple negative. But I responded very well to the chemo. I had a single mastectomy with no recurrence to date. If it should return I will deny any further treatment. I’ve had enough and I’ve had a great life. I believe we get cancer for no specific reason other than our cells going rogue. I wish you all the very best.
@NhiTranLee

Yes it is a great mystery and that’s what I mean, multiple factors come together to make our cells go rogue and that’s how we end up with it. In the end, only God knows and best to just surrender and do the best we can. I’m so glad you were treated and hope it will never come back and you can continue living and enjoying life.

Thanks for sharing your introspective reflection of yourself. It's not easy to do, and don't beat yourself up with guilt about not being with your Dad on his last day. You were still a loving daughter that cared for him and often went to see him. Young very busy people forging their own life make tons of mistakes and don't always do the right thing for your own health, career, finding a mate and all the other issues they have to deal with after leaving their childhood home. You amaze me with all the things you have to deal with, demanding work, home maker, husband, children, and all the research you do figuring out who you are and fighting cancer. I don't know how you find the time. Only if you don't have much time you get busy and pack as much as you can into it.
@NhiTranLee
@NhiTranLee 14 күн бұрын
Yes as soon as I realized that I was carrying the guilt and the grief, and I let it go, and it was after that that my cancer got better. Awareness is key and sometimes we are not even aware of what we are holding on to. It takes a lot of time and introspection. Spending time with family is my priority, work is thankfully not too demanding and sharing on this channel is my passion. I feel blessed to have the means to live all of these roles. Thank you for your support.

Perfect Doc. So well put. You are far ahead of your contemporaries. Every medical doctor should be required to view this video as a starting point to learning about true health rather than disease management. A doctor I have great respect for once said that "the first step in getting rid of cancer is to stop making it". We live in an increasingly artificial/stressful environment and with it we have seen cancer rates explode even among the young. We must live in harmony with nature as our biology is a product of it. There is no other way. The few remaining societies who do, have very little in the way of chronic disease. Man is simply not smart enough to tamper with our biology without adverse consequences. My wifes breast cancer was stable (stage 0) for over 5 years and on the heels of a new/highly stressful job it blossomed rapidly. Nothing else in her life had changed through that period and while we cannot prove cause we find it very suspicious. Not only do all these factors (diet/stress/drugs/toxins/emf's.....) create excess cancer cells but they also dysregulate the immune/gut microbiota which are THE systems that naturally kill cancer cells that exist in all of us to some degree. Once this environment/situation exists cancer cells are free to multiply unrestricted and get the upper hand. We not only need to kill the cancer cells but fix the immune/gut systems in large part by returning to a natural state of balance in mind and body or no long term solution can be achieved.

Yes everything you said here is very true and I totally agree. How is your wife doing now? The rise in cancer rates are truly alarming but I do see that more and more people are aware of what may be causing that and are taking preventative measures. We are also figuring out better ways to manage cancer and it’s not an automatic death sentence and I am hopeful that this will continue to get better. Thanks so much for your comment.

@@NhiTranLee Thank you doc. Hang in there. You are doing great and on the right path. Yes, I do think people are awakening to the organized forces of negativity of this world and together we will find a better way. We must. Thank you for asking about my wife. She is a true miracle. I have not told you her full story but over the last year she was in a coma for 3+ weeks and in the hospital for 3 months after a liver biopsy went bad and she nearly bled to death. Her kidneys also failed and most of the dr's thought she was a lost cause but somehow by the grace of god she came to, kidneys healed and after weeks of physical therapy she was back on her feet only to have to fight advanced stage 4 breast cancer. Along the way the cancer moved to the brain and she had seizures that again jeopardized her life and still she somehow overcame and as of today is now cancer free/full remission. We will continue to closely monitor. So never give up doc. Miracles do happen and I know you will soon be cancer free as well.

My dad is a Vietnam Vet. I have stage four colon cancer. My husbands bf was diagnosed a few months before me with stage three colon cancer. His dad is also a Vietnam Vet. After i was diagnosed i talked to a genetics lady and they told me they think bowel cancer is primarily emotional. Second is diet/ environmental. Third genetic. I asked her about agent orange and she said " not sure but it is a possibility". I had always been one to suppress my feelings didn't want to bother anyone. About ten years before i found out i had cancer i had been caregiver at different times for people. A grandma that had dementia for a couple years until she died.Taking care of parents a few times after surgeries. About two years before my cancer had three deaths in a three month time. Majority of the people i have known that have had cancer are/were real nice people.

Sorry to hear about your health struggles. Life can be a b1tch. But I admire your courage and resilience. Sometimes trying to establish connection or find a logical scientific explanation between lifestyle and disease trigger can be counter productive and drive a person insane. I agree it would be helpful to identify the cause and risk factors so we can avoid future recurrence or help others who may be at risk. There is a multitude of causes in which you may never know for certain but can only speculate. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine the cause(s) other than genetic disposition if the cancer is hereditary. I believe there is a psychological and physical component to most diseases since the mind/spirit and body are closely interconnected and stress is a known cause of many serious illnesses. Sleep deprivation is another killer too. Some people are predisposed or more prone to acquiring diseases than others. I doubt it is diet alone. A set of conditions had to arise that triggered disease onset (perfect storm as you had described) eg, immune suppression compounded by other factors. Sorry to hear about your father's tragic passing as well. Remember agent orange was used during the war so many civilians were exposed and developed cancer and passed genetically to future offsprings. Stay strong and walk close to God. 🙏

Yes this is so true! It is a balance to not obsessively overthink and be overly strict and perfectionist when it comes to dealing with cancer and illness. It is the control factor that brings more stress and I’ve learned that the hard way. What I pray for now is to be able to surrender and let God lead my life because I know his plans are way better than mine. I will just do my best to listen and obey and do what I can to support the natural healing in my body.

You can either fight cancer or embrace it. I would rather embrace it and live 100% quality of life. This life is temporary and the Lord's will prevails. I see cancer as a gift and to be closer to our Lord Jesus. The world is awful as it is. Evil is rampant.

@@NhiTranLee Quite the contrary: vast majority of patients who _fought_ their cancer (surgery, chemo, radiation) lived much, much longer. There are millions of women who had breast cancer 20+ years ago and are alive and well today. And male patients (testicular cancer) who would not stand a chance w/out chemo and surgery. Survival rate *when fighting* testicular cancer - 99%.
@NhiTranLee
@NhiTranLee 10 күн бұрын
@@mv848 by "acceptance" I do not mean giving up and not doing everything you can to treat the cancer whether that includes surgery, chemo, radiation or other alternative treatments as that is what I have been doing. I just don't like to use the word "fight" when it comes to cancer because it feels like it is a war when it's really just our own cells that have gone rogue. It is certainly not something I would want to call a friend, but accepting that I have cancer and surrendering to God's will for me while doing my part in my treatment is the balance I hope to find.

@@NhiTranLee You replied to a comment that suggests exactly that: giving up. You agreed by writing the following "...Yes fighting it just makes it worse and more stressful. @@mv848 Yes, I understand what you mean. It is because you wrote "You can either fight cancer or embrace it," so I would also rather "embrace" it and to me part of embracing is accepting and again I did not mean it in a way to give up.

I think It's all generics. My family has no cancer history. All my grandparents died of something else. My grandparents on both sides had many siblings. My mom (78) had 11 uncles. My dad had 7 siblings, mom 4. I have maybe 45 cousins (age 40-65). No cancer ever in anyone. Most smoked and drank heavily. Nutrition was a joke. Parents and us were raised in easter Europe (Poland) under communism eating bread with lard sprinkled with salt. I remember eating that for years. Any fruit we picked was turned into alcohol. We would have some meat and fish on Christmas. Still no cancers. Most died from cardiovascular issues, liver and kidney failures. One uncle died of nonmalignant brain tumor. Statistically it is impossible to not have any cancers sine a third will die from it, but we had none. Somebody should study my family.

My video can apply to other diseases as well in terms of how we get sick. I focused on the cancer personality but Type A personalities tend to be more prone to cardiovascular disease for example. Of course the process is complex and depends on many factors including genetic predisposition. Cancer is just one of the diseases that can occur when there is metabolic dysfunction and only 5% are truly inherited, the other 95% comes from mutations that happens later on in life from multiple factors.
