Over the past years I’ve been asked quite a lot to design a movemnet program specifically for surfers, i thought I would start by sharing a morning flow that we captured a few weeks ago when I had surfing on my mind.
The sequence is designed to prime the key areas of the body used when your in the ocean as well as fire up the system to be nice and electric by the time you enter the water.
The isn’t the one size fits all approach but it’s a broad routine that I reckon a lot of people could enjoy.

I'm just getting back in the water after shoulder surgery for a torn bicep and labrum - this warm up certainly helped my confidence and feel ready to paddle out!

amazing routine! been doing it for the past 2 weeks - waves or no waves. I'm definitely more flexible and comfortable with my mobility. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this video! The teacup exercise brought flashbacks of doing traditional Filipino dances as a kid... we would do this with a glass of "wine" (grape juice) or with candles. Haha!

Thank you very much Nic! Very interesting and easy to understand for not regular english speaking perople as I am. For me I always add a cardio moment at the beginning of the warm up. Ciao from Switzerland

I have to say, if I don't do this before surfing, it's definitely not going to be great. As a carpenter I got to get loose, just connected on a couple 3-4s, thanks to your pre surf workout. Thank you!

@Nic Laidlaw-- Love this warm-up, thank you. I echo the request for some additional neck/shoulder mobilizations (warm-up) and post-surf stretches in other vids. Also, any movement tips you have to deal with the back hyperextension issues from paddling would be great. Thank you again!

Thanks for reaching out, apologies for the very late reply, im inconsistent on this platform. There are some big questions there, but id recommend general hanging from a bar as well as extending your spine over the swissball if you have one. Ive done videos in the past on spinal mobility, waves and circles are great for all round mobility. All the best

its a pleasure Thibaut. The most common stretches post surf for me are the hang or to lie over a swissballx on my back :)

thanks for reaching out. Yes i have, I met a feldenkrais / alexander teacher when I was around 14 and that is what lead me on this path
