My mother was a seamstress who worked there in the 1960's,for Jim Mullenbach (spelling?) ,who was a clothing designer, making breathtaking creations. The fabrics I saw and touched were so incredibly lovely. Eventually , she left there, and went into business herself. The downstairs of her house often had half dressed ladies, or girls, being fitted for a ballgound or a wedding dress when I would stop by to visit. And yes, she designed and made wonderful things for me as well. In particular, a raw silk dress, that I wore for years until it finally simply wore out. It's always been my most favorite piece of clothing I've ever had. How I wish I could find at least one of those wonderful dresses which she made. Some of them were made by hand because the fabric was too precious to trust to her sewing machine. Her name was Theresa Miller; her skills were honed up there on the balcony, in Jim's shop in the Pfister's Hotel. .

I will go Ga Ga over those ceilings of those old buildings from the late 19 towards early 20th century. I remembered touring these beautiful mansions when I was 6 going on 7 years old with my family. It still gets me to this day.

Back then, a million could build you a grand hotel. Today, my high school built a freakin basketball arena for 1.6 mil. Inflation has got out of hand.

The technology of building like this has either been lost, or covered up.....

Kind of weird former president Taft got word that WWII ended while he was staying at the Pfister when he died in 1913 and WWII ended in 1945 lol
@brewcitymike14 жыл бұрын
actually he was potus from 1909-'13 and he died in 1930 which still means he couldn't have gotten an announcement about neither WWI or WWII ending, but it was probably just a mistake and they were meant to say Truman

@@brewcitymike1 : *former* president Taft could certainly have gotten word about WW1 ending, which ended in 1918 or 1919.

I believe this building and many other old world milwaukee buildings to be a lot older than the "founding" date. Historical societies cover up the truth. "Generating stories".
