The masquerade question stumped me too lol. Unfortunately Masquerade isn’t one of those songs that gets sung by every classical singer

Why do I find it amusing that there is a clip of Hadley and Sierra, a clip of Norm and Sierra, but no Ramin and Sierra?

I’m pretty sure that first clip is Ramin and Sierra. They used clips from the 25th anniversary show which Hadley, Ramin, and Sierra were in.

I a lucky guy, got all of them right. I've seen it three times. First in Toronto, and twice in Pittsburgh Pa..I loved every time!

0:28 This question for some reason doesn’t seem right/ fair.(?) I know this is for the Broadway production but technically in 1990, Robert Guillaume (the voice of Rafiki in The Lion King) was the first black actor to play the role, when he took over for Michael Crawford in the Los Angeles production. Norm Lewis made history by becoming the first black actor to don the Phantom's mask on Broadway in 2014. This is just my opinion but I think the answer could have been either of these two men.

The question specified “on broadway” though, which is why Guillaume would be incorrect. I had the same thought but realized that the question was actually correct after rereading it.

The answer wasn't the name of the actor. The answer was the name of the song he sang in the video clip.

Abby C. Phillips I wondered why no one knew that they were celebrating New Years, but I listened to the song again and "New Years" is only mentioned twice, once where you said and another one right before it.

I saw this at the Curran back in the Christmas of 1997, when they had Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman... Man, I can't believe it's been 20 years.

Uh… Crawford’s last show as the Phantom was in April of 1990. He did London in 1986, Broadway in 1988, and LA in 1989. He never performed at the Curran. Sarah Brightman only starred in the London and Broadway productions of the show. She left in June of 1988. Brightman only played the role at Her Majesty’s Theatre and the Majestic Theatre. Crawford played those two plus the Ahmanson Theatre. Brightman also played Christine at a pre-West End 1985 workshop in Sydmonton (but that was even before Michael Crawford was cast in the show). If you saw it in San Francisco at the Curran in December of 1997, you probably would’ve seen Franc D’Ambrosio as the Phantom and Lisa Vroman as Christine. They both played for most of the show’s run at the Curran (December 1993 to January 1999… I think D’Ambrosio joined in March of 1994, but I can’t remember who preceded him. It might have been Davis Gaines?)

I did see the show at the Curran, and it must have been D’Ambrosio/Vroman. I wish I still had the Thank you so much for clarifying!
