It would've been so humiliating for Miss Colombia she reacted way better than I expect and I could ever (although it was unnecessary that she fights the crown later on) and I also feel bad for Miss Philippines, there was no way she could've been happy with her whole heart or celebrate it, that year was honestly a bum for (I guess) everyone

Because there's a lot of places in the US that were named after Christopher Columbus so in turn a lot of our spelling says Columbia versus Colombia. And when doing voice-to-text in North American English that's how it spells.

You’ve just been announced as the winner of perhaps the most coveted and most prestigious beauty competition in the entire world, and before you can even celebrate, they tell you there’s been a mistake, you DIDNT win, and the reward is ripped away from you and given to somebody else. Imagine how humiliating that must be, for everybody involved.

If it's some fictional world wherin, According to your consideration, I somehow wake-up on that stage, I would give a lengthy lecture on the Glory and wisdom of *GOD.* I would let all of those woman know that none of these supposed 'events/compititions' dictate their value. It is by God that we are alive and continue to live, without HIM, there wouldn't be a thing.

Philippines are one of the most sweetest and humble people you will come across. I’m friends with someone from the Philippines and she was always so happy and excited to have me try her culture food along with always asking if I was alright or how my day is going or if I ever needed any help or wanted me and my husband to go out with her family. Seeing the expression on both these girls faces is heartbreaking

At least, I think that's how it works.

The world is so different in 2022. Push self love not competition of looks. Beauty is skin deep. Most wipes off or is glued on. Women should be in control of these things. Men like Trump objectify. Ms. Colombia acted bitter after the pageant. She said on the interview that Pia is just a ghost to her. Its not even Pias fault that she won. Miss Philippines moment has been taken away from her too. Instead of them celebrating her win, the other girls are consoling miss colombia, which is fair I guess. But they are both the victims here so she should not act bitter towards Pia (Philippines )

Honestly, the Philippines girl had humbleness, she felt bad and she did what she worked so hard for no more then what the Columbia girl would of done❤️ they both showed that in the hug❤️ but me personally, I'd of dropped out then and there (I'd never have the guts to do this! So I CANNOT speak from what these ladies have worked so hard for) i just can't bare someone being sad over hard work. But i understand this work is different then a silly promotion at work. What’s worse is that after the show ended and the crowning, Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, was seen trying to approach crying Miss Colombia to console her but other contestants around Colombia stopped her and acted like its her fault, so she the staff had to walk her off the stage. It wasn’t until she got backstage when the staff and makup artists congratulated her that she felt that she actually won and cried. This is such a mess and Pia still receive hates for simply because of this fiasco.

I never watched the miss university competition intentionally, but that day my sister and i were zapping through the tv, this was on so we decided to just watch for fun. It was only the last 15 minutes or so but I can't believe we saw this moment live while it happened

Miss Philippines should enjoy the moment. Poor girl. She probably felt a mix of emotions even questioning whether she should receive the crown. The answer is yes!!! She didn’t make the mistake. Ariadna accused her of stealing the crown, she cried during interviews. It wasn't Queen P's fault at all. I remember a lot of candidates comforted Ariadna but Pia wasn't able to celebrate her moment cause she felt bad for her and there were people who was booing her in the crowd. We Filo's were so proud of her she took it like a Queen that she is with grace, confidence and a beautiful heart. Sometimes she just jokes about it with Steve and telling him that he made her famous and memorable. 😁

If you saw how he holds the card you would see why he fucked up. He was holding the card with his right hand I think and his thumb covered the actual winner (which is miss Philippines). Since it was his first time hosting that kind of competition he didn’t know that 1st runner up was actually the second runner up. He thought first runner up was the actual winner since you know it’s 1st. His thumb covered the thing that says Miss Universe 2015 with Philippines at the bottom so he thought Miss Colombia was the miss universe. I think that was what happened I saw it on a video once explaining why he made a mistake.

Her win wasn't also as glorious. Imagine suffering because you won. And for Miss Colombia, I cannot even describe how strong she was for holding it together after feeling pain and humiliation. She also worked hard for it don't get me wrong but sadly she wasn't the one who was supposed to have the crown in the first place. And for the host, he will always be reminded of his mistake because almost 7 years later we still cannot forget it. So, this situation is really heartbreaking for all sides.

IKR Ms Philippines (my country!) got death threats and extreme negativity from blind haters that she HAD to get a psychiatrist to deal with the hate! I don’t like comparing pain and shame with people, but for the people who do, I’d say miss Philippines had it worse... they treated her bad ever since that silly error... She also said that Pia was like a ghost cause she only saw her twice and did not think of her as a competition. Right after that, another candidate came out and called out Miss Colombia saying that the Latinas were making fun of other Asians days prior to the event. Edit: I forgot to add that when Ms. Philippines was crowned, she tried to comfort Ms. Colombia and the other candidates told her to step back. There are also reports saying that she(Ms. Philippines) was being bullied but Idk if that was true, though.

Sad to say Colombia didn’t win. She never did, she never won. The judges knew who was the winner and they jumped from their seats in shock that Steve announced Colombia. Harvey made a very unfortunate mistake. There’s been a lot of interviews on YT from diff parties who knew the winner before it was announced.

I respected Steve because in one of his interviews he addresses the situation. He said that he did read the card right but the producers had it wrong, so they were going to ignore it and address it the next day, but Steve said no, he’ll go out and speak up about it. Although it hurts, I’m glad he did what he did

I don’t know. Honestly…..I don’t know if it was better to just do it the way they did & humiliate one young woman….while putting a dark cloud over the win of another - or if it would have been better to take them both aside after the show, explain what happened, and figure out the best way to handle it with everyone being on the same page. Either way is problematic. Either way, one young woman has her dreams stripped away, and another never has the chance to really experience her win. Both women were given their dreams, but both also experienced an enormous loss. Personally, I think they should have waited. I don’t think it should have been part of the show. And I recognize that regardless of when they did it, the outcome would be the same…..but it shouldn’t have happened that way. I know that the true winner should have been given her moment on that stage, and if they’d waited, she never would have had it. More people would have seen the show, than would have seen the follow up announcement where they corrected it. But, did she really get her winning moment onstage? They took the crown off of the head of the wrong winner, and put it on her head…she watched that girl’s heart break into a million pieces in order for her to get her moment. There just wasn’t a way for anyone to really win after that. Psychologically & emotionally, I just think this was the worst way to handle it.

@@DrAnderson1 I wished there was a way to handle this situation in a way where they all won, but this was one of those situations where it would have been a problem all around, and people would still pass their judgments regardless. Because even if they did waited, although feelings were hurt, the real winner wouldn't have been able to celebrate the same way. Im sure she didn't. Situations like this happens all the time; I wished we had the same empathy is all situations like this, but its not the case all the time. If anything this could be some sort of lesson, even a humbling one for the producers, contestants, and audience. It does hurt a lot, but Im just saying, it takes a lot of confidence for a man to speak up and out about it because even he was harshly accused and picked on. And you never know what could have happened after the show and what happened to the one who didn't actually win. Notice we only focus on her and not the real winner? Even if they waited, I'm sure there would be people who ask; "Why didn't they just leave it alone?" It would be unfair all around. Im still glad over the real winner because she's still being stripped away from the spotlight. It's a sticky situation but it's really unfair being pitiful instead of giving it to the real winner. The one I truly feel bad for because she's still not in the spotlight. So congrats to her and her composure.

So beautiful in her speech, so fluent, very intelligent in every word she speaks. Her beauty & brain is a whole package. Filipinos are always very strong in their advocacies, very promising! They do actions more than speaking. They are a christian country where most loving, caring, kindness, best in empathy & hospitality, known at their very respectful people. It was bad for both of the girls but the audience there booed miss Phillipines like it was her fault. No other contestants were willing to wish her.Their behavior was what made it more pathetic.

This happened to me at senior prom nearly 20 years ago, and I was legitimately so very upset. The girl who did actually win, wasn’t nice about it at all and I was so furious at how she treated me (and my reaction to that was very immature to be honest but holy moly was I hurting ). What I experienced was on an infinitely smaller scale but I can absolutely still remember how it felt and can only imagine the magnitude of how She felt up there, in that moment. So happy to see the graciousness of women sticking together and uplifting one another ❤️❤️❤️

That is so embarrassing I would have ran off stage and left. That is so sad. She thought she won because of a mistake they made and had to give up her crown. I can imagine how she felt.
