As a student. Teachers in Philippines doesn't make their teaching more fun or interesting and it doesn't give me any satisfaction. What a joke

I've known so many students who were forced to hire programmers to do their Thesis because they weren't taught how to code their programs. Their teachers only taught them theories and lectures but no actual programming. Later, their Thesis advisers and panelists are asking them to do more than what they could do. They expect them to do good even they (Thesis advisers and panelists) themselves don't know how to do it.

funny. why do we always forget to mention the flawed teaching methods of teachers in the higher education? they always get away conveniently by saying 'this is college, not high school' when they just actually provide templated learning materials and not really guiding and TEACHING students anything. The grades the student gets IS NOT A DIRECT REFLECTION OF THEIR PERFORMANCE BUT ALSO A REFLECTION OF THE TEACHER'S PERFORMANCE. and you still wknder why students lost their motivation in finishing college or worse, not even practicing what they finished.

If you will ask me,the Philippines needs to restructure or reformat its educational system properly, for example the government should give more privileges and benefits to all teachers/instructors(aside from compensation)in order for them to motivate in delivering more of their education skills to students. The government should allot more funds to assist underprivileged but to the deserving bright and passionate students like granting more scholarships and provisions(allowances, meals, materials)which will serve as a motivation to study competitively but unfortunately our education department does not supported well especially from local governments(blame it to corruption,bureaucracy,inefficiency etc.)😔😔😔

This is not only a problem for Philippines it's a problem for the whole world too. Memorization is the only thing that the teacher teach it's unauthentic learning!!

Having been an elementary student in a public school in the 1960s, I suggest that DepEd focus more on the basic 3R's - Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic, with extra emphasis on English, from Grades 1 thru 6. I saw the modules for Grade 6 and I couldn't believe them. In Science, for instance, the topics covered were more suited for students taking up Biology or Pre-Med in College. It's fine if students are able to cope but I believe only those studying in schools like UP Integrated, Phil Science High, and a number of elite private schools could truly grasp it on their own. Even the tutors and/or parents aren't able to cope that easily, leaving most students clueless and defeated. And the cycle moves on to the next level. It's my guess that at least 90% of students, esp in so-so public schools, end up not getting educated at all.

Ahhhh yes i remembered that we have a computer subject but got only 3 computers vs many students and it's not even updated thank goodness i do online job and got decent payment

I'm a grade 9 student in the philippines, from my experience I think the problem is how they teach students, they mostly rely on memorization without ever needing to know the material ( except for maths ) + the teachers will always sound very discouraged and stressed out, or just grouchy, im not saying that they shouldnt- I understand why theyre stressed it's just that it makes the students become uninterested with the subject, they would just play MBL on their phone or hang out with their friends, the way they teach it is also Soo boring, no clubs or anything like that, there's more to it than meets the eye, I'm just stating my opinion as a fellow student

ive graduated in a top university and was usually told since childhood that i was a smart kid but after graduation, the course i picked does not really give me a job since the market seems to lack demand and is oversupplied and they only take experienced applicants, which how can i get experience when theres no company willing to take someone on, so i get no job and my educational background is a waste

Eto realtalk lang. Mababa ang tingin ng lipunang Pilipino sa propesyon ng pagtuturo kasi mababa ang pasweldo at walang overtime pay "Teaching lang" naman yan kase. Kaya naman, yung pinakamagagaling na mga mamamayan ay hindi pinipili at hindi nahihikayat sa propesyong ito. Hindi tuloy name-mentor yung susunod na henerasyon ng mahuhusay na indibidwal. Kaya asahan mo, In the next 10 years, yung mga problemang tinalakay sa videong ito, yan at yan din ang mga problemang pag-uusapan ulit. Paulit ulit lang. Hangga't walang pagbabago sa kultura, ugali, at pamamahala, walang mangyayari. Tanggapin na lang na 'yan na 'yan. Kung may pagbabago man, sa mga maliliit na setting o eskuwelahan na lang ngunit wag nang asahan sa national level.

The problem for me stems how there is a lack of comprehension. It is always memorization and memorization. People hate math because there is nothing to memorise but to understand. Memorization is the basis of intelligence. I can't blame the teachers because their education system failed too. They are taught to teach whats given to them and the salary for them is also bad. Some teachers are also not that passionate and it is purely just textbook knowledge. Mapeh is suppose to be outside of textbooks but its not. There are also biases when it comes to picking who. People often pick the smart people to be the leader when there are "average" students who are true leaders. It is truly sad to see that we filipinos are rank low in iq and our comprehension skills. Another thing i wanna add is the honor student stuff. Which is extremely toxic especially to elememtary students. The pressure sucks partner that with a flawed system Im an honor stufent myself but I simply see no point if the intellegence is based on memorization or based on being an honor student. Its a one way learning and some of other peoples passion is usually not entertained as they believe other than you enter their rat race you are a failure. I wish somehow its refurnished in a way that everyone has the opportunity.

Elementary and high school teachers don't have any assistants yet the job is impossible to be done by only 1 person.. Teachers can't focus on teaching because of paperworks na wala namang kwenta yung iba.. its either.. pagagalitan ka coz you did not finish those papers, or Gagawin mo yung paper works pero di ka naman mkakapagturo... Or you do both and will affect your body.. so many teachers in the Philippines were hospitalised due to stress! or worst they suicide... kaya di ako nagtataka many Teachers are resigning and choose to teach abroad for better treatment..

I was always told i was a "genius" by people but when its school being involved I'm always considered "weird" and "stupid" i think that is more than enough.

Because graduating teachers cannot take the Licensure Exams after earning their degree (some provinces they are told for one to two years while they process old curriculum students), they are forced to look elsewhere for jobs, especially OFW. Instead of holding these Licensure Exams twice a year, why not hold them twice a month until DepEd is caught up. We need to get these teachers into school while they are still excited about teaching and are mentally equipped to do their best. Waiting two years for the exam not only increases their chance of failure, but wastes the money spent on that education as they are more likely to find some other work that is available like in call centers or OFW. DepEd is specifically responsible for this excessive Licensure delay.

I believe it is crucial to reduce the amounts of homeworks or projects assigned to students so that student like me could at least enjoy their social life and not entirely focusing on to academics!!!! 🥺😩

The vice president was appointed by our president to be the secretary of education. Was the president choice a wise one.? The answer is to be seen. Why education deserved a much needed attention, simply because the outcome is too crucial for the future of our country. As a Filipino we cannot afford to be left behind, as such the. Govt should do the best that they can to give the proper education to our future generation and future leader of our country to be the best among the best.Our leader in the future should aspire that our country should become one of the richest country in the world.

Destroy the "No Child Left Behind" policy. This policy punishes teachers who fail students. In an interview I did with a few teachers and students in a public elementary school, I found several 4th grade students who couldn't read at all! But instead of being turned back to work on their fundamentals, these kids are being passed on to the next grade. How is the teacher going to cope? They usually teach 40 to 50 per class, and have at least 5 different classes to teach. It's impossible for them to give each child proper guidance, and with the NCLB policy, they have no choice but to pass students who are failing. They implemented the k12 system, yet didn't give proper support for k12 graduates nor enforced changes in the employment sector to accommodate these grads. The k12 system could have been the PH's best hope for quick development, instead it became a tool to line the pockets of the education mafia. No mention at all that most who don't finish school is because of their own financial family problems where the kids need to stop going after a certain point if their family income gets affected? Government can put all the money it wants but if none of it go to students that need school supplies for projects or even to write on paper then access will always be affected

I am a product of "pasang awa system" in a back water school. And I failed my subs in college due to my poor performance and our prof letting us report in front and not actually teach well.... Some of our prof also are not compassionate and instead of teaching they let us do our thing like letting us cheat our activities but it is Ged subs hehe. And i regret not doing my best in highschool. One of my prof also did say quote "hello nasa university kayo hindi college so you should report in front"

Some kids dont relate well to academics. There should be alternate paths for them through vocational training and farming.

In my opinion we must take examples from our neighboring countries that have excellent systems like japan. 1. Make preschool (ages 4-5) be more about teaching moral values. And dabbling on creative learning like music and arts. (Look at japanese counterpart) 2. Grade school year 1-4 should have math, science and english(reading) as main subjects. Minor subject should be lessened to not burden the children. (One of the reason why children are having difficulty in English, its because we have also Filipino language. In other countries, they don't use English as much, and only learn other subject aside from English in their native language. Its different from us who uses english in most of our major subjects. So they should be given these 4 yrs to at least be proficient in English) 3. Grade 5-6 Introduction to Filipino subject and other minor subjects. Music and arts should be mandatory (learning one instrument/or any art (painting, sculpting, poetry, etc) should be required) 4. Grade 7-10 leveling up Math and Science (at least on par with international requirement) 5. Grade 11-12 aside from STEM, Maths and Science should be on the level needed on that strand. I know that there are alot to improve aside from the system. Infrastructures are lacking. Also, without the parents help, it will be a uphill climb. We must remember that character and attitude towards self, others and also to learning are very important; and teachers are only second to parents or relatives in teaching these to the child.

Simple but no one would like to sct. First have sn assesment exam on subject like Marh, science snd English in Grade 6 in grade 10 and grade 12. If s student fails he mudt take a remrdisl classvl and take exam until he pass before going to the next level.

Where does the line go for education problems in the Philippines? Many years ago I chatted to a filipina from Iligan City, how ever she turned out to be less than she claimed to be. But some of her answers was extremely weird, like when I asked her if Tagalog was written with signs just like other asian languages. I had ask that 3 times bcoz she couldn't understand the question the first two times, the third time I asked that question she replied with "we don't speak tagalog we speak bisayan" or when I asked her if snake was eaten in the Philippines and she replied with "we don't eat snake" or her clueless reply to my question about Iligan City "well it's a big city, it has a civic center and it's the provincial capital of Lanao del Norte". There was just a massive problem with her answers, tagalog has been the national language of the Philippines since 1937 and it's taught in schools in Iligan City, snake is eaten in the Philippines (maybe not in Lanao del Norte, Mindanao or Iligan City) but that's not what I asked and it's eaten in the Philippines. I asked her about Iligan City but she described the 2nd Class municipality of Tubod, I know that Maria was a compulsive liar that lied about her siblings whereabouts and their ages, she had listed Tubod on her dating profile even though she wasn't living there, and she lied about the existence of the international airport. But shouldn't someone who was studying nursing at the time know such basic things like the language that 95 % of filipinos are speaking?

Throwing money at this isn't the solution. Maybe stop the emphasis on dance routines and awards and for sure confiscate the phones. Obsession with Facebook games tictoc etc is a major detriment to success.

As a student in Philippines. it was more essential to give more fucos on the core subjects which is the Mathematics, science and English don't give granted the minor subjects,minkr subjects also can be vocational course like the extra curricular activities such as the TESDA program. in school year start they should imply more in the 3 core subjects,and the students should required to attend TESDA course in atleast 14 days in summer.

But still filipinos got the highest EQ in the world🎉

Its always the third world and emerging economic nations have mostly poor and corrupt education system and Philippines is a great example of it especially how extremely unequal the nation is.

How many of the peso invested in the education system are used for education instead of ending in corrupt peoples pockets???????
