No music gets old in the Philippines. We love music, we love to sing. If itvspeaks of our emotions, that music transcends time, genre and the artist. ❤

thanks to the old MTV Asia, The Corrs were introduced to the Philippine music scene in the late 90s. They never fail to put up timeless songs which everyone still sings even in the karaoke.

The Corrs were HUGE from mid-90's to early 2000's!!! To this day, almost 30 years later, I still know the lyrics of their songs to heart! Efra, you were not alone...even Andrea (lead singer) cried in disbelief that people still know their song and support them even after three decades. I just have to say though that Caroline (drummer) was and still is my fave from the band!

What we are watching is the second tour of the band. The magic (the crowd singing and the band overjoyed) happened in two tours - first in 2001 and lately in 2023. 😊 What got Andrea was the thought that they are actually experiencing that surprise moment from 2001 again from the same people who watched it before together with the younger generation who appreciate thier songs. To be serenaded harmoniously by a crowd from the other side of the world who knows one’s composition is one of the most amazing experience for an artist like them. Absolutely remarkable and thus unforgetable for them… Andrea noted this in an old interview.
@jvarquez91352 ай бұрын
Who would not know the Corrs? Every Filipino could watch their MTVs on every electronics store selling TVs every mall Andrea's face is all over the tv screens in the late 90s to early 2000s 😊

We do love ballads. In my college years, I went to so many concerts and all the artists couldn't believe how popular their songs are in the Philippines (when they weren't in their home countries). I begged my Mom for tickets to Barry Manilow, Air Supply, James Ingram, Patti Austin etc. They came back to perform because of the incredible welcome they received from us. I went to the concert of Chicago and I realized they were a rock band😅. It's because their most popular songs here are Hard Habit to Break, You're the Inspiration and After All (a duet with Cher and Peter Cetera.

You guys should attend a concert here in the Philippines at least once to feel how surreal it is to be part of that kind of crowd.
@shysydney2 ай бұрын
ed sheeran & the 1975 were also surprised that thousands of miles away from where they made their music, filipinos know their songs when they performed considering they were new artists during concerts early in their careers. filipinos appreciate good music, that is why even artists from the 70s & 80s still go and have concerts in the philippines.

At their first concert in Manila, Roland Orzabal told the audience about the time he ran into a guy in a supermarket who asked, “Are you the guy from Tears for Fears? What are you doing these days?” Orzabal replied, “Google Tears for Fears in Manila.” He said that “the reception at the airport was great but this (audience) is amazing. He also said that it was “a crime” that they haven’t gone to Manila sooner. The soonest they could go back-they did 2 nights in Manila ang 1 in Cebu. Check out “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” (Live in Manila in 5/10/2010).

Corrs' songs are like 90% of filipinos' go-to songs in karaoke. like, you can literally take a group of filipinos, put them in a room with the Corr's playing in the speakers, and they'd turn that room into a karaoke. no mics, no lyrics -- no problem.

We have this so-called siesta in the Philippines. It's part of our culture where kids have to take a nap around after lunchtime or maybe 03 in the afternoon. And that song is an easy song that plays over the radio. Just so nostalgic.

For an artist, speaking as a musician as well here. Nothing is more rewarding to hear and receive when the people/crowd not only knows your song but sings it back to you. It is way more than "Thank you's". No one can explain how it feels inside. It's like your purpose is completed on earth and you are ready to leave and pass on to the other life.

I just hope artists who will visit the country will embrace how we are as a fan. Though sometimes, it's too much but by far most artists who visited the country appreciated how Filipinos reacts. This is just for concert, you should have tried visiting basketball and volleyball games even in a small community the energy is contagious but it is really overwhelming. I guess when we truly support someone we always give out our best

This song has been played in many weddings in the Philippines, including the wedding of a big celebrity couple. They attended this very concert. Based on the band's story, they had a similar scenario the last time time they had a concert in the country, which was 22 years ago. They were surprised that everybody sung in perfect pitch. I know, I was too young then to attend the concert.
