The Steelers struggle to gain any momentum in the first half but behind a STRONG running attack by Rashard Mendenhall, the Steelers were able to break free & go up 28-10.
This game is a memorable one. Just one of those that I remember the entire day of & after. Truly a great nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Ill never forget the disappointing 09 season. This game was the end of the Steelers 5 game winning streak after knocking off the undefeated vikings, and the 6-1 Broncos back to back. Steelers sitting at 6-2 after this game would go on a 5 game losing streak to bottom teams like KC, Oak, Cleveland, all of them losing the leads in the 4th quarter. At 6-7 they were at risk for a losing record, then they win on a last second Big Ben td to Mike Wallace as time expired against Green Bay starting the 3 game winning streak to close out the season at 9-7 ultimately missing the playoffs.

Polamalu's injury completely sunk the 2009 team just when it was finding its stride. He was at the peak of his powers and definitely would've made a difference against the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns. I think there was a stat around that time that the Steelers were Sub .500 in games where Troy doesn't play. He was THE engine that made the defense, and the team go for that stretch of years.

That 3 game losing stretch was brutal All 3 of those games were winnable... and the play calling vs the Browns was terrible. Can't remember the specifics at the time but I recall them being down 6-0 in the 4th and running 3 straight passing plays when they could have just ran the ball. Few years later we had the 5 game losing streak that nailed another good season. Always with these steaks late in the year.

i miss hines ward, as a steeler receiver, i know they have had and currently do have excellent receivers but hines was just a different beast, he is leap frogging a hall of fame corner and one of the best of all time at the corner position to put the explanation point....but also what a top 3, holmes, wallace and ward, pretty great trio

Hey, I was at this game! My dad and I went on a sports vacation and saw an Avs game, Air Force vs. Army CFB, some Air Force hockey games, and this game on Monday Night. We abused the Coors brewery tour in the afternoon and they had Peppermint Schnapps Hot Chocolates for sale at the game so I was plenty toasty by the 4th quarter. I remember I hated Ty Carter (he mostly sucked) but saw him pull down the 2 picks.

Nobody really talked about H. Miller. But, he was damn good at blocking. He was just one of those guys that did his job year after year. Retired with two rings. Hines jumped over Champ. Amazing!! Harrison didn't have to do that man like that. But, what a hit.

Shout out to Tomlin from taking the decision out of Ryan Clark's hands to play in Denver in this game and if I'm not mistaken a playoff game later. If you ask me, when people call him a player's coach, reasons like this are why I think that he can be a players coach but still command so much respect.

Then we lost 5 straight, all close, two in OT and both of those without Ben at the end of one game and not at all in the other. Polamalu was pretty much out all year, and I'm convinced if he's healthy we win a few of those closer games and make the playoffs. We only missed it by one game.

I remember this game was when I said ‘oh hell yeah, the 6-2 Steelers are gonna repeat. Then they went on a horrific tailspin. Losing to KC in ot when they threw a pitch to mewelde Moore. Then Joe Burnett had an interception in his arms that would have beat the raiders. He dropped it and Bruce gradkowski threw a td pass to beat us 27-24. That was when Tomlin said December we’re gonna unleash hell. They went 9-7 I hate that I remember all this nonsense.
@nick56677
@nick56677 2 жыл бұрын
2009 was a season where I had really really high expectations for this team. After beating the undefeated Vikings and then the 6-1 Broncos back to back to be at 6-2 and have a 5 game winning streak after starting 1-2. I thought for sure this is another deep playoff run team..Then Cincy happened followed by the 5 game losing streak to teams like KC, Oak, Cleveland etc. At 6-7 with very little hope they finished on a 3 game win streak beating GB, Baltimore, and Miami to finish 9-7 but ultimately miss the playoffs. Very disappointing year 09 was. The defense couldn't put teams away in the 4th quarter all season, key injuries to Polamalu and Aaron Smith on defense, inconsistent running game etc.

Has there ever been a team that has had so much and done so little like the Steelers the past decade. So much talent and not even a trip to the super bowl since 2010. Especially when they had the big three. How can anybody not look back with extreme disappointment.
@ItzYinzburgh
@ItzYinzburgh 2 жыл бұрын
While I agree, that talent was almost entirely one sided. When the defense was molded to be around Shazier & started clicking- He got injured. It’s been one sided talent from 2013-2029. Last year was a great team but held back by play-calling and offensive line play.
@mshat18
@mshat18 2 жыл бұрын
That’s true. But for me that much talent has got to get you at least one appearance in a super bowl. I understand you’re not beating the pats in 16 but 2017 they had to beat the jaguars.
@ItzYinzburgh
@ItzYinzburgh 2 жыл бұрын
@@mshat18 Yes, but taking away the turnover by Ben, the D let up 38 points to Bortles. It was just too much one sided power, especially once 50 went down.
