This song reminds me of the first time I was driven to a mental health facility. I remember being on the stretcher and just crying the entire time, looking down at my feet and seeing the slight blur of the cars driving behind us. It was so surreal knowing that the person behind me was having a perfectly normal day while I was being sent away for attempting suicide. I wondered a lot of the time what my life had come to. Where I belonged. Where I was. Where my mind was for ever thinking this was a good course of action. The haunting vocals remind me of the bright hospital lights, the guitar of the intense emotions I felt, and the way it ends of how it really felt like it was all over. This song makes me so sad, yet comforts me. I look back now on it, and I feel stronger, and thankful I failed.

Who else feels sad when you hear this song...and yet you still put a smile on your face while recalling all those memories from young age.All the happiness, the sad moments,the oportunities you lost,your first love,the time you spend with your buddies,the stupid things you did while playing around. We didnt know we were making memories...we just thought we were having fun.

It made me feel sad when I was younger and Iistened to this every single time I went to my favorite club. I never cared much about the lyrics but the music teared my heart out every single time. I felt lonely and lost and the music seemed to echoe my emocions better then anything I had ever heard. I felt understood in some weird way. I still do feel lonely and lost but the song doesn't make the same magic to me. I lost that special part of myself.

“You are not special. You're not a beautiful and unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We're all part of the same compost heap. We're all singing, all dancing crap of the world.” "We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.” More relevant now than ever. Edit: To explain my position on these quotes because some people can't read though things lol. The first one I take from a perspective of being realistic about life and yourself, you aren't better than anyone else, doesn't matter who you are. Also to be realistic about your limitations. The second is to not get brainwashed by modern TV and society telling you that being rich or buying x will make you happy. Success isn't always about how much you make, the car you own, or the gold watch that you flaunt. Also to the youth of today who are disappointed by life. Life isn't a free ride and you won't get handed anything in this world. Some people work hard, some people get lucky, just don't be upset if your illusions of grandeur don't come to fruition.

This song is honestly so beautiful, but yet so haunting. It spreads different emotions to each different individual. The vocals are perfect in every way but the emotions it gives are not so great. It takes me back to a time when I was afraid to speak, and eventually, it just felt like I had a different mindset. I would agree to everything just to fit in. I felt like a different person. I didn't have my own opinions. I just realized that I literally sound emo AF but I'm posting this anyway soo... To late :)
@shrepnell6935 Жыл бұрын
I relate to that feeling. it's almost like you feel pathetic and you have to mirror people just to fit in, the fear of not being accepted. it's not emo, it's just an insecurity, a pretty hard one to overcome. it depends on the surroundings, mostly people who are judgemental about everything. even now I don't feel comfortable about many things and i dont like to talk about my life.

This song is very special to me. Met my friend before I could remember anything. He was there with my first memories. Grew up with him, watched Star Trek with him, played some of our first videogames together. We pretended we were in space, that we were knights, that we were important, that countless versions of countless beautiful worlds existed for us to disappear into at a moment's notice. We shared music too, one of our greatest passions. Laughing to Al Yankovic, enjoying Beatles classics, rocking Chili Peppers, Offspring, shit with lyrics we probably shouldn't have been listening to at the time. Both of our parents were really cool like that. Middle school happened. His dad left his Mom, and god that was a mess. He had a bunch of difficult shit happen in his life, didn't see him very often. I missed him, missed him real bad. Would call him on the phone, he said he would call back and tell me when he was free. I often didn't hear from him for more than a year or a month after that. High school happened. We went to the same school, got into the IB program together, and the dreams started coming back. We were better at writing, better at dreaming, and we began to ponder maps, peoples, stories, back up amongst the stars where we had idly spent our youth with no consideration for balance of power or themes. We started sharing music again. Better yet, we started playing music. I was on bass, he was on bass. We played chili peppers, wrote simple chord progressions, just generally fucked around. One day he played the somber chords one day to Where Is My Mind. I started playing along. I liked how it sounded. When we didn't know what to play next, he would riff on that, starting to sing. "With your feet on the air and your head on the ground" "Your head will collapse." "Try this trick and spin it." It was the drift, the doubt, that uncertainty and desire that comes with the brink of adulthood. It mourned our lack of direction, yet celebrated the freedom. I will never forget what his guitar sounded like on that cheap-ass amp, how his contrastingly lovely voice wove the lyrics with such talent and somber perfection. College happened. I stayed at home in the desert, and he was off to New York. I don't see him for two years. It's middle school all over again. I hear this song on the radio while driving. I pull over, because I absolutely have to pull over, because seconds later I start bawling my eyes out. Still have trouble keeping the waterworks off when I hear it now.

It's day 26 without dad, I was crying a while ago in his room reminiscing how we made a lot of good memories and were living our best life before he tested positive. This song popped in my head out of nowhere and I could listen the music in his room while everything flashed back. I wish world could go back to normal so there'd be no sudden irreparable changes for adults like me. Dad it feels strange, you're my only friend.

I found this song today while travelling to college for one of my exams. Previously my teacher who was teaching me the exam unit that was happening today told the class that she went to a pixies concert and they are one of her favourite bands. I’ve never typed them up before and this song popped up on a random tract i was listening to. I am shook. I am also now obsessed with the Pixies.

i heard this song a total of one (1) time, at the end of fight club. it fit the mood of the movie so well, totally encompassing the chaos of the last scene so beautifully that i literally never forgot it. despite only hearing it once, years ago, i can still feel the haunting instrumentals resonating “in my mind,” if you will. damn it’s just a really cool song. i seriously recommend watching the last scene in fight club purely for the satisfaction of seeing the song paired with the events in the movie, even if you haven’t watched the whole thing.
