You can't judge a whole city of people by it's cover. I grew up in Schenectady and I'm so glad that I did. Coming to college and seeing people who grew up so sheltered when it comes to diversity in race, class, sexual orientation, etc. makes me really appreciate the experience I received at Schenectady High School. I met people who came from all walks of life, I had more educational avenues to choose from than at other schools in the area, and I learned not to have paper thin skin.

It's really weird, for me at least, when the interviewer around the 2:00 mark says that he can't believe Schenectady and "towns like this" really exist. I live really close to Schenectady and everything shot in the movie is legit. All of the newscasters they had, the news channel the events happened on are all real. On top of that, Schenectady used to be a really nice town (because of GE), and now it's actually kind of terrifying.

He said everyone does things because of something and you need to know why. Dane and Jason was so honest and real. You should be proud that he was being stereotypical ! He made him a caring human being. You have to see the movie and chill out and respect him. He is an actor who respects people! no reason to be upset

I know that this was posted years ago, but the interview in general kind of pisses me off. It makes me mad that these people can go into a place and assume that it is overrun with homeless drug addicts and scared youth when it isn't anything of the sort. I have lived in Schenectady my whole life. I went to Schenectady High School, I have been to a lot of the places that were used in the film and I have a very different opinion on Schenectady as a whole. Sure some people are homeless, and there are unemployed people but Schenectady is no different than any other place in the world. Every town has their struggles and just like anywhere else, if you want to find trouble you will. I was actually in the movie because they used actual kids that went there, but because there wasn't enough kids they opened up the filming to include other kids from surrounding area schools. Kids from Troy, Albany, Niskayuna, Scotia, and those are the kids putting up a front. Those are the kids forcing themselves to look cool and tough just because they were in a movie and it makes me mad that they gave off the wrong impression. I loved going to Schenectady High because there was such a diverse community of kids who respected each other and their differences and it was a great experience and I don't think that was showcased in the movie or in this interview. Filming a movie in a location for a couple months does not give you full incite of what living there is actually like. Sorry for the long comment, I just thought I should state my opinion. Overall, the acting was great and I did enjoy the movie.
