Amidst the collapse of human civilization, apes led by the intelligent chimpanzee Caesar formed a society in the Muir Woods, thriving in their newfound freedom. Years passed, and the apes developed a harmonious community, communicating through sign language and rudimentary speech. Caesar's leadership was respected, and he dreamed of peaceful coexistence with the remaining humans. However, tensions simmered beneath the surface, both within the ape community and with the humans. A group of human survivors, led by Malcolm, discovered a hydroelectric dam that could provide them with electricity. They ventured into the woods to seek permission from the apes to repair it.
