The farm workers have to pay all the taxes like the cetizen and yet not getting any benefit. they need to give back the money they deduct from their pay.

I am wondering which farm the minister visited and the conditions were fine. I have many family members who travel from Jamaica to Canada to work on these farms. For what I have seen with my own 2 eyes the living conditions there is despicable that I am embarrassed for them. Too many men packed in 1 room, no proper kitchen or bathroom, it's dirty and stink. Furniture outdated it's a dump really, and being forced to work from early mornings till the sun goes down. What it is, is modern day slavery. So the minister is covering up something or being bribed to say all is well. 1 and 2 might tell a lie but thousands come on now. Government must do better ti protect these workers, after all they are the ones putting food on our tables. Notice how Canadians NOT DOING THIS KIND OF WORK!!! SO PLS TREAT FARM WORKERS WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY!!!

It's not just now this has been HAPPENING.YEARS the horrible treatment has been going on. Zamunda will never admit that there is a problem because his pockets get lined nicely. What does he care as long as he is receiving a benefit? There are thousands of pictures and documented problems in Canada's farm workers program. Slavery was never abolished! It still exists. All countries especially CARICOM countries who continue to send workers are equally responsible and complacent in the system of slavery.

This is nothing new. Jamaican farmworkers have been complaining for years about the terrible and inhumane condition they forced to work under in Canada and America, but the Jamaican government did nothing about it. Jamaica needs to invest more in agriculture, and create jobs at home; we have the land.

The Jamaican Government has some of the most cowards, illiterate and selfish people governing Jamaica. They don't care about its Citizens. They're scared of speaking out and protecting it's people because "they want to maintain foreign relationships." Also, they called their Citizens "cowards" for migrating and wanting a better life when they, the government not even providing opportunities, safety, etc. We know you can't work miracles but all the people ask to see is a little effort, stand up for them, they want to see some things being done for some of the problems in Jamaica, but no, ya'll are like stagnant water (slimy, stink and no movement). If the tables were turn and Jamaica was mistreating Canadians, best believe the Canadian government would hold the Jamaican government accountable. Love Jamaica but this is how I feel.

If you don’t respect and treat you people in high regard no one will respect them. Jamaicans overall need to develop a greater sense of pride, we should work just as hard to develop our own country as we do for another just because of money. Yes we don’t have the resources and big money but what if more persons farmed and build to our country this would be different. Sadly after all this is said and done you’ll have persons still lining up to go on these programs. The policies need to change because it’s needed. Also these programs are too political.
@sonyaoldfield601
@sonyaoldfield601 Жыл бұрын
Listen we don’t have the resources and benefits neither is the government here providing opportunities for us… so we go to the place where the opportunities are, relax Owen because a lot of farmers here take on the opportunity to nurture their business in farming here from that opportunity due to the lack of support in Jamaica and their resident country, so the people them a try but the government here and in Canada needs to reward these people equal and accordingly.

What a poignant interview. Both guests were spot on. It's outright outrageous and totally unacceptable how our people are being treated in this matter. Poor and economically challenged people in Jamaica are often abused, disrespected and deprived. Yet they are the ones ironically who are often strongly politically aligned/loyal in order to get access to farm work programmes and similar tribal hustles/eat-a-food gigs...it's all by design. Minister, if the working conditions of the farm workers are in your view satisfactory, you should have your son join the programme and work under those exact conditions for at least six months... then we'll believe you. Is it that difficult to treat fellow human beings/Jamaicans with a little respect and dignity? If the people of Jamaica have not yet realised that the politicians (PNP/JLP) represent and are the cause of EVERYTHING that is wrong in Jamaica then I don't know when they will recognise who the real enemies are and reject them. Despicable!!
