If Lakan is behind this why would he ask Jinshi, and thus Maomao, to work on cases that lead someone to know that an assassination is planned?

Btw the guard that attack moamoa was severely punish buy her father, and I think the reason for his shock face was because of jinshi carrying moamoa outside with people with him hiding his identity en all

@@gerardmourits8709 They don't go into it in the anime, but yeah, the guard gets flogged to an inch of his life by Lakan, but isn't executed because ultimately, he was doing his job.

Im 90% sure that Lakan isn't plotting Jinshis death. Otherwise, he would have kept Maomao far away from the metalworkers knowing that she would have figured something out. Monocle knew something was up, so he sent his daughter/bloodhound in to shake things up and uncover stuff. He did not plan for her to get seriously hurt though, hence him being really pissed at the guard, then shocked at jinshi carrying her. 90% confident there, i don't think that was ever fully explained from his perspective.

the impression show wants you to have is that lakan is plotting to kill him, but the show is smarter than that so there is more to it

@@derpderp283 The show shows you Lakan telling Jinshi about cases that, if he is the mastermind, would eventually lead to him and his plan. Which would be incredibly stupid. He also found the pipe first but left it there. The show doesn't try to portray him as the mastermind here.

@@ssjokg4952 but they do though, only after the latter episodes its shown he wasn't the mastermind. Its the part of this writing, they clearly wanted to make him suspicious to subvert it later

@@derpderp283 I explained to you why thinking he is the mastermind is stupid based on what the show showed us. He is still shady and creepy in regards to Maomao but at the very least he isn't stupid enough to be the mastermind and lead his assassination target to figure out what he is trying to do.

@@ssjokg4952 you are right about not killing jinshi, but there was enough false signs of him trying to mess with jinshi, like by the smoke pipe potentially making maomao the suspect or by telling jinshi that he knew his identity, all i am saying is that it wasnt as clear cut to say that he was innocent, he might not have been the killer but maybe working with the shady eunuch, which was my impression

The replacement metal part has a weaker melting point, so the heat of the incense would be enough to melt it. Has nothing to do with perfect timing, just enough "coincidences" to line up. Think of how All For One makes lots of contingency plans for his contingency plans, decades in advance.

11:17 : Spoiler: Lakan didn't do it. But he helped her go up there. He's shocked because he didn't think his daughter would get hurt. And lakan is a genius strategist and an overseer. He figures stuff out but doesn't do anything about it if he doesn't want to. He gave Jinshi those tasks ( the pufferfish case, the 3 brothers tea party case and the flower storage case) so that he can figure out his ( jinshi's) own assassination. Which lakan figured out ages ago because figuring out stuff is what he does. Lakan actually kinda wanted jinshi dead if he couldn't figure it out himself. Because Jinshi bought Maomao when he always wanted his daughter to be with him but couldn't. So he didn't tell jinshi directly anything. But didn't calculate Maomao getting hurt in the process.

Great review! I wish we could've gotten this level of theorizing sooner. 👎🏽On you reverting back to mispronouncing "Apothecary," I thought you were done with that 😅! Jinshi repeatedly finding MaoMao with Lihaku was a funny gag😂, but that guard hitting MaoMao in the face was infuriating! Despite my dislike of Lakan, I never thought he was involved in the assassination attempt of Jinshi. I guessed the look on his face had to do with seeing MaoMao carried out that way. His anger over MaoMao being brutally hit was when I started to believe he wasn't such a horrible person & that he cared about/loved his daughter.
