Tomatoes originated in Mexico, but when they reached Europe, people thought they were poisonous and called them the poison apple.
So instead of eating them, tomatoes were planted in gardens as ornamental plants.
The perception of tomatoes changed only when a European business man surrounded his tomato garden with a thick sturdy fence to tell his neighbours - they were not poisonous but rather edible and tasty.
Which actually tells you that the world may believe that something is of no value. All it takes is one person’s courage to change the story.
