Important correction here: Alexander III (1159-1181) was not British ("only Briton to reign as Pope"), he was in fact from Siena. His immediate predecessor, Pope Adrian IV (1154-59), was British - or more accurately, English. His original name was Nicholas Breakspear and he was to be the only ever English or British Pope. Excellent and fascinating video though, covering such a broad sweep of history.

How about the treacherous IV Crusade during Innocent III?? No mention about this at all...!?

Great video but one correction. The Vatican isn’t on one of the 7 Hills of Rome, so therefore there is no walk around a “Vatican Hill”.

"Vatican Hill (/ˈvætɪkən/; Latin: Mons Vaticanus, Italian: Colle Vaticano) is a hill located across the Tiber river from the traditional seven hills of Rome, that also gave the name of Vatican City. It is the location of St. Peter's Basilica."

There also seems to be another error. The formal date for the Great Schism is 1066, get you have it set during the 1050s.

Nah the formal date for the Great Schism is 1054. The only notable thing happening in 1066 that I know is the Normans taking over England.

The first 1000 years of the papacy, almost every pope is bald... why?
@woodshed_moments2 жыл бұрын
Because toy can't have hair on a pope that wasn't there... there is no papal succession consistent enough to call is a "primacy" until after the crusades.
