The feather and stone aren’t “thrown” in a vacuum, they “fall” in a vacuum, at the same rate. Newton’s second law, f=ma. If you use that equation, then you’ll notice that the small “m” cancels, and we’re just left with (g). Does that answer your question?

can that be explained by momentum transfer.. since grape has less mass so it will apply less force on earth and in reverse grape will experience less force from earth and for melon , has greater mass so as it touches the earth it will apply a greater force and will experience greater force from earth and it is enough to break the melon..

1:09 "The grape falls a bit slower than the melon" I'd have thought the WATERMELON would fall a bit slower, as it has larger surface area and therefore generates more air resistance. Was this a cox-up?
@fromnorway643
@fromnorway643 4 жыл бұрын
For objects of the same shape, their surface areas are proportional to the _square_ of their width, while their volumes - and thus mass if their densities are similar - are proportional to the _cube_ of their width. That means that if the melon is roughly 10 times wider than the grape, it has a 10 x 10 = 100 times larger surface area, but a 10 x 10 x 10 = 1000 times larger volume/mass than the grape. The grape therefore has a 10 times larger area relative to its mass than the melon and is thus much more affected by air resistance than the melon.

is it newton's law of gravity of particles attracting each other or Einstein's gravity law of mass bending space time? is weight then caused by mass or gravity caused by mass bending space?
@anitaojotoro

It’s not really an either/or question Edward. Curvature of spacetime is caused by the presence of mass. And weight is the acceleration that the curvature causes on that mass.

The amount of food wasted per year in America and other countries around the world is mind blowing. And to say that the melon was wasted is true but no, someone from whatever third world country couldn't have ate it. The cost of shipping it outweighs the worth of the fruit by an insane amount. Your better off giving donations to a non profit charity that sends seed packets and instructions on farming/care.

Isaac Newton - perhaps the greatest scientist who has ever lived. He discovered the existence of gravity. He is remembered prominently to this day in a memorial at westminster abbey. Sir Isaac Newton said "this most beautiful system of sun, planets and comets could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being. This Being governs all things not as the soul of the world but as Lord over all and on account of His dominion He is wont to be called Lord God".

I know mathematicians who are convinced the universe is, essentially, mathematical in nature. Here we have a physicist who is convinced life is subject to our laws of physics. The massive in-depth knowledge we get from specialisation is incredibly valuable but the danger is thinking their specialisation is the be all and end all. Mathematics and physics are amongst our attempts to explain what we are witnessing. Whilst what we are witnessing may not change, our understanding of it probably will. So far it has been constantly changing and it's presumptuous to assume we know it all now. I'm thoroughly impressed with Brian's enthusiasm and wonder and it would be greater still if he got hold of the right end of the stick. What these creatures are doing informs our physics, not the other way round.

actually if gravity were true according to newton, then all falling bodies would also cause earth to slightly move in space even if so small. This has never been observed. Gravity is a myth made up to prove mathematical consistency. Gravity isn't a force. Objects vibrating at specific densities simply merge to their associative density in quantized non curved space times.

the 'bounce' happens because the grape has a certain amount of elasticity - to return to its original shape. The melon has this property too, but is significantly lower. This elasticity or ability to return to its original shape is what causes the object to bounce, and why objects with very high elasticity (such as a rubber ball) will bounce much higher than other objects.

(gravity) the theory that's never been proven! thing's fall through different mediums, depending on their relative density to each other. air and water are both fluids, only ones a gas and the other a liquid, objects fall down onto a motionless plane at 9.82m\s2 because they are simply heavier than the air surrounding them. this is just the rate things fall through that perticular medium. a helium balloon will fall upwards because it's more boyant than the air surrounding it. drop a rock into a lake, it will sink because it's heavier than the water surrounding it. drop a cork into the lake, it will float because it's more boyant than the water surrounding it. this is why birds,... insects,... smoke,... air_balloons,... arn't effected!.... this is also the reason whales,... big sharks,... cruise liners,... don't get sucked down onto the seabed,... because ( gravity) doesn't exist! the earth has no curvature! .... the earth isn't moving!... the vacuum of space is a hoax!
