Sohyang is the Queen! Mahalo! 🤙

This performance must have been a walk in the park for her compared to her Everyone and Lean on me performances. She still killed it.

Notice that she did NOT do one of her spectacular arrangements. She did exactly the right thing by simply singing a great song with her great voice. She is SO classy - she never disappoints always surprises and pleases. Cheers.

This was a really well done rendition. So many almost great singers are ALMOST great because they feel the need to oversing everything all the time, as if to show just how great they are, and it gets kind of annoying that they can't seem to just sing anything straight. Celine Dion is particularly difficult to cover because she's such a tasteful singer who knows exactly when NOT to oversing, which means she leaves a lot of temptation for almost great singers to do all sorts of vocal acrobatics covering Celine songs, thinking they can outsing Celine and really impress people, except it never works because (a) you're not likely ever going to outsing Celine Dion on your best day no matter how good you are, and (b) these sorts of songs don't call for it, which Celine knows, which is why she doesn't do it. Sohyang's a great singer for too many reasons to list, but one of those reasons is that she knows when the time and place for that stuff is, and Power of Love is not the time and place, so she sang it straight and didn't try getting all creative and doing unnecessary runs and other things Celine didn't do in her version. And she could have, just like Celine could have, but neither one of them did, because they're great singers.

One of the things you'll discover with So Hyang covers is that even a Celine Dion arrangement comes so easy for her, it feels she could literally roll out of bed and sing this song. We love when she levels up, but it really is nice to just watch her interpret the original arrangement without having to make it super difficult (though she can obviously do that as well.)

By the way there are earlier songs performed by SoHyang than this and she has improved a lot over the years. She started training her voice from about 2010. This performance is somewhere between 2008-2010 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aq6Edtlk266dm3U.html 'A Little Peace & Will You Be There'. Not as supported or resonant but still shows her talent.

I do not think you need to go through the list in the chronological order unless you are trying to really analyze how different she sounds over the years. I think you should react to EVERYONE, an absolute master class!!!

Jennifer Rush wrote and sang it, then Celine's version I'd call The fitness of Love, besides So Hyang one of my favorite versions is Laura Brannigan's The POWER of Love. One other note is the beautiful version of "Terry Lin"!! Just my two centavos!!

This was a very easy and average performance for her. :D But still a classic. This was an Open Air Concert so nothing fancy, just a fairly straight cover.
