Covenant could be seen as the set of discipline you put place that guides your life in certain areas. So you establish covenant by sincerely telling yourself what you need to do to see results in your life and being committed to actually doing it and continue doing it even after seeing results. If you want to establish covenant in prayers for example, you could set aside a particular time of the day and covenant it to God as a time you must pray. Same with your studying. This are the things you must do daily. It also applies to finance too, tithing is a covenant, you could set aside certain portions of your earns to give to God as a covenant for financial shifts. It's not compulsory, just as it's not compulsory to pray and study every day but you know it's highly beneficial if you do.
