I’m Latvian living in LA , and how paradox it might sound but the most I miss in this Lockdown is Sunday gatherings in church. First month was okay, but now I feel like part of me was taken away. I can’t wait when I can be back in church together with my tribe. One Love

@erwinMcManus Dear Erwin. I have come to understand that Jesus was not forsaken or abandoned on the cross like so many of us believe by taking that verse "My God my God, why have you forsaken me?" at face value. Jesus was merely quoting Psalm 22 which was a prophesy of Jesus Christ on the cross. Kind David wrote this 2000 years before Jesus was born and before the death by crucifixion even existed. "My God my God, why have you forsaken me?" is merely the song title that Jesus quotes. The people gathered around Jesus would have known this Psalm of David and either continued to mock and cry out blaspheme or question why Jesus is calling Himself the savior as this Psalm depicts. The reason I do not believe Jesus was forsaken is if you keep reading towards the end of Psalm 22 in verse 24 it reads, "For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help." There are also many other scripture that talk about how God swore an oath to never abandon or turn His face away from His people ever again in Isaiah and we know the heart of God saying, "I will never leave you or forsake you even to the end of the world". Also, Jesus even referenced this saying, "How can Satan cast our Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, it cannot stand." So if God cast out God, then His kingdom could not stand. Also, Jesus said, "I say nothing other than what the Father gives me", so the Spirit of God would have had to be the one speaking through Jesus on the cross. Also, right before Jesus was captured, Jesus prayed saying "Father you and I are one, I am in the Father and the Father is in me." We hear nothing about a separation or being divided from the Father or the Father abandoning or forsaking Jesus ever in the entire Bible except for this one moment in Matthew. Something is not adding up and maybe there is more too this. Also, if God cast out God and Jesus was now divided from the Father or forsaken, how would Jesus then have authority or speak saying to the thief, "Today you will be with me in Paradise" or "Father into your hands I commit my Spirit." What Spirit was Jesus talking about and why was He still talking to the Father if He were forsaken and divided? Lastly, if Jesus knew His purpose all along was to save the world by crucifixion, why would Jesus then cry out as if this shocked Him and as if He was tricked or deceived and didn't know and He's crying out asking God this question so confused and concerned? That's not our Jesus and makes absolutely no sense. Again, this was a song title referencing the savior of the world will come and die in this manner. David was the one crying out where are you God and then the Holy Spirit guided and spoke through David this prophecy to come and in the end David corrects himself and says, "No you have NOT abandoned or forsaken this Holy one, but have heard His cries for help." Erwin, if your son Aaron saw a bunch of people about to get shot and your son ran over to fight the man with the gun and allowed everyone to escape, but got shot and killed in doing so, would you then be so disgusted with Aaron that you had to forsake him for this act of pure courage, sacrifice, and grace? And if you Erwin who are evil in the contrast of God, do good thing for your son, just think of how much greater He who is in Heaven would do for His children. Its also not like God didn't deal with people or look at people that were steeped in sin, so its not as if God couldn't bare to look into the eyes of a human that was covered with sin. The devil himself even stood in God's presence in Job. Also, God had a great conversation with Kane who just murdered his brother. God spoke and dealt with Adam during the first sin ever committed. God has done this since the beginning with man kind and it makes absolutely no sense that since the beginning God spoke face to face dealing with us in our sin, but when His perfect son takes a bullet for us, then God forsakes and turns away from His son? What!? And one more thing, even if all the sin of the world was put onto Jesus which I do believe it was, Jesus still didn't do it and God wasn't tricked thinking He did. He was proud of His son and knew this was the plan all along. "My God my God, why have you forsaken me?" was one of the greatest songs/Psalms during that day to prophesied the death of our savior and proclaimed praise to Him forever and ever. Thanks for reading and I hope this blesses you or others who read it.
