Every July, watercolorists come together to celebrate World Watercolor Month and share how this soft, dreamy water-based artwork is an accessible medium for everyone.
Mary Whyte, an American figurative artist internationally known for her watercolors including our past exhibition, "We The People: Portraits of Veterans in America," shares with us her inspiration and how art positively impacts the lives of Veterans.

Some of these portraits will make you cry - the emotion on the paper is fantastic. Mary Whyte paints the soul of a person and does it with watercolor! My husband gave me the book for Christmas and I kept saying, "this isn't watercolor, it's magic." Just a beautiful book. Thank you! - from Jo Ann Dongweck

Watercolour is always called a lesser medium by they who can not master its complexity…it’s actually the best!

Truth!!!! My first medium was watercolor, because I thought it would be easier to learn. LOL!!!!! Years later, just for kicks and giggles, I took a portrait oil painting class. My first oil painting was good enough to sell. It was soooooo much easier than watercolor. But I love the challenge and complexity of watercolor.
